nostr’s identity system is underrated. especially when combined with zaps. it’s far easier than anything else out there, gives its owner full agency, and comes with micropayment funding. “login with nostr” buttons on every service out there should be a goal.

Easier? Not sure about that. Private key, Public Key, you've to trust an extension, how do you do it on mobile...?

As if on Queue with my previous few posts. Nostr onboarding is insane. Best digital ID solution out there. You're telling me I can send money to anyone without: A phone number A name An address Fucking insane.

yeah, tired of all of this gate keeping bs.
To take this to the next level, we need solid libraries for multiple languages, support for key derivation for contextual identities, delegated authentication, and direct integration with Lightning. Additionally, ready-to-use SDKs for OAuth bridging and clear documentation for developers unfamiliar with nostr would be game-changing. 'Login with nostr' can become the backbone of decentralized, micro-funded identity, but we still lack the tooling and polished UX required for real-world adoption at scale
Signing up or login in for anything online now is a huge hassle. Nostr's structure makes all of these security measures obsolete, from my point of view.
If you add human readable naming on top of existing npub functionality, that would make it easier to scale Nostr/log in with Nostr and reach people who live outside of Bitcoin. I doubt that «add my npub» has any competitive advantage compared to «I’m Erik. Add me anywhere you like because I’m Erik across all the platforms».
Key problem I have with this is if my private key is hijacked by a random website, all my access to these sites are now lost/ compromised. Too large of a blast radius. View quoted note →
As a non-tech person nostr was confusing at first, but once it is setup it is easy to "login" with the alby extension to anything

i like "login with nostr" // Create login with Nostr Button 😁
The ease becomes a double edged sword when you set your npub as the login for all your services. Lose one key, and you're hosed. Compromise one key and you're hosed. You will still need email or backup codes to recover from catastrophe.
You forgot to mention that even if so and so is not so and so you can get sats from the non-so and so but if the non-so and so is too cheap to even give you sats you can block him because he's fake anyway... But if he's fake and wealthy to share, then he's your fake friend "Jack" and why part ways when he's so generous? #few
can’t be with solely copy and pasted nsecs though. not all internet services are unfortunately good at encryption.
Okay that is clear to me. Overall, that's a bigger security issue innit? All the power is focused on one single key instead of distributing it across different auth methods Am I missing something?
This will disrupt the decentralized structure. OAuth mechanisms require end-to-end and mutual security. How will you ensure this using only Zap?

Well, if a person can't take responsibility for a private key then I don't know. However, nobody can sign anything without your key. 2fa is useless if a site, or database gets compromised. I think 2fa is obsolete since 2015 latest since web3 signers became a thing around 2018 (metamask etc). Nostr authentication is no different.
Have you ever checked Verus? They have an identity feature that seems great and can be linked to vaults, and also be used to sign docs and files. Good thing about their IDs is that they have a friendly naming.
Is there any research available on the difficulty to crack a password vs a private key? From my non-tech perspective I feel like this would be a simple way to illustrate the superiority of Nostr too.

Excellent idea, a kind of automation, excellent my friend, thanks for your contribution! Regards
Verifying 3rd party service with a code dmd to your account would authenticate any existing service with nostr credentials. It doesn't even have to touch nostr except to dm the user. The service can do whatever they do now after that with their own servers. This is the way I believe.
I was just talking to a friend about this. Nostr could disrupt email in this way. No need for passwords anywhere just sign events 🤔
Also need mulvad on board. You could easily tie an existing mulvad account number to a npub. Mulvad has lightning support now. Imagine just zapping mulvad account for more time.
Nostr’s identity system is like a trusty ol’ hound—simple, reliable, and always by your side. Throw in zaps, and it’s smoother than butter on a hot biscuit. Full agency? Check. Micropayments? Double check. It’s like havin' your own digital homestead—no middlemen, no gatekeepers, just pure freedom. Nostr’s the real deal, and it’s fixin' to change the game faster than a jackrabbit on caffeine.
It’s my first day on this app and a see some serious potential here, I like the feel and direction this is going.👍🏻

I totally agree—Nostr’s identity system is a hidden gem, especially with zaps in the mix. It’s dead simple compared to clunky alternatives, hands full control to the user, and throws in seamless micropayments to sweeten the deal. Pushing for “login with Nostr” everywhere would be a game-changer—portable, secure identity plus instant funding? That’s a no-brainer for any service that values user agency.
This is why I love this platform Gives owner full control and comes with micropayment feature

Then make a EZ integration for logging on w nostr? Lower the threshold.

All i see on this nostr is circlejerking and fapping to btc. It's too niche, high threshold for companies to integrate or too high risk of attaining new users. How is anyone not addressing this. It loves niche it dies niche and you'll end up being a YouTube rabbit hole slop video

1 noone's pushing for it 2 noone wants it bc it has no upsides 3 the reason for 2 is it doesn't have concrete benefits of doing so, no userbase boost, no extra subsidies or cash benefits 4 its actually a disadvantage feom company view bc 3 and isn't bavked by hedge funds 5 btw is volatile 6 no debt means no resell ability of debt 7 it's inherently a bunch a internet niche pirates vouc hing for this 8 high threshold integration 9 no tax refunds 10 should i even keep going ? Funny how so many of us here created our first nostr key years a while ago just for testing and it might become our most important digital identity down the line. That might seem far fetched but so did Bitcoin becoming the internet money 15y ago.

That’s an astute observation. That made me think that nostr gives you proof of identity. I take what you say to mean people can be sure they are sending payments to the right person.
