I am the patriarchy of my family. Many will balk at that statement, but my wife and daughters love and respect me enough to gladly follow my lead. That does not mean I am perfect, as I often make mistakes. That is why I LISTEN to them and take their perspectives into account. But at the end of the day, whether I go with their suggestion or not, the responsibility for the outcome rests on my shoulders, as God intended. Men: Lead by sacrificial service and loving, prayerful, shepherding of your home, not lording it over those under your charge, but lead you must.

So, who wants more castles? This is Karlštejn Castle, built in the 14th century by King Charles IV of Bohemia, who became the Holy Roman Emperor. For a time it housed the Imperial Crown Jewels. The castle has been beautifully preserved in a form similar to how it would have looked in the medieval period when it was built.

Spent the entire day wandering around Prague. Time for a photo dump? I think so.

This statue comemorates Jan Hus, a Bohemian proto-reformer of the 14th century who preached in Czech at Bethlehem Chapel in Prague. This was unheard of during his day, when mass was held only in Latin, which most common men did not understand. He was burned at the stake in Constance, Germany on July 6th, 1415 because, inspired by John Wycliffe, he wanted the Bible to be available in the language of the people and because he preached against indulgences, and other errors and corruption in the church. The inscription on the base of the statue says, "For the Truth."
