I’m not really sure I believe in nostr’s claims of value for value over the long term. It’s rather idealistic and disconnected from reality. In most cases, people’s money is often people’s time. It’s their lifeblood. They don’t have the privilege of venture capital or other structural means. So in most cases, if you want 10,000 sats from someone, you’re more likely than going to need to earn it by providing a solution to a real problem they’re having. If I have $30 to spend on art and entertainment, is it really going to go to a post on nostr that I’ll forget about or is it going to be that one event or show in my city? The reality of business is ruthless but so is the exchange of peoples time and lifeblood for products and services.

I've been using nostr for nearly two years and it's pretty much the only social platform where I haven't encountered hate. That's the ultimate success of a social space not dependent and incentivized by algorithms. God bless you all, even if you think differently than me.

I feel like most startups these days only get seen because they’re venture backed. So some investors have a spreadsheet of startups, they pump it eventually by sharing it with their network, and then the market validates it because there’s money on the line. So the startup ultimately gets seen because there’s money on the line. But if you build tech products from your own pocket, it becomes a lot less likely to be seen regularly, depending on sales more than marketing.

I feel like the Like button shouldn’t exist on nostr. Coming from TikTok, a drugged out version of social media, I mostly see nostr as a rehab of social media. It makes me question why the Like button exists. The Like button was designed for advertisers. We have a competitor to the like button here and we ought to flex that. The Like button is a time-sink designed to optimize reactions and superficially uncommitted engagement. I feel like zaps shouldn’t be considered “super likes” but the default action. Content that gets created is valued at maximum authenticity and it incentivizes creativity and real interaction between individuals and communities.

Feel like rebranding "followers" to "connections" or something like that would be a healthy thing for the internet. "Followers" implied a kind of awkward hierarchical relationship, mostly meant for advertisers and personal brands.

I feel pretty strongly that nostr is a game changer for education technology and maybe even education as a whole. There is an authentic innovation and product market fit there.
