Google Play Store is banning all non-custodial wallets whose developers do not have a FinCEN registration, state banking license, or MiCA license.
This means that in the US, *all* non-custodial wallets on the Play Store will have to employ AML/KYC.
Sounds bad? In the EU, it’s even worse:
MiCA licenses are not issued to services as simple as non-custodial wallets, effectively banning non-custodial wallet developers from the Play Store in the EU.
As with all dumb AML ideas, it’s of course the FATF that opened the door to this nonsense, claiming that even non-custodial/decentralized software could have some element of control over funds.
The DOJ tried to enforce this quagmire with Samourai and Tornado Cash, and now we’re seeing the largest App Store in the world enforce it on its own.
After regulation by prosecution, here comes regulation by monopoly

My brother, what devices do you use? There's only a handful of manufacturers making these chips on your phone/ laptop, the internet runs off cloudflare, all of your apps are on Google Play, Apples App store or GitHub.

OnePlus has great price to performance ratio and probably still the fastest in screen fingerprint reader.
Lenovo/Motorola is a good manufacturer, I don't particularly like Samsung, Pixels are nice, I've been eyeing a nothing phone as my next purchase. Probably CFM phone 2.

It's open source. It can be and has been removed in graphene for instance. But there are many other flavors.
Ok. I use gift cards from bitfrefill. Plenty of options. The mobile ln wallet I maybe use once a year when I go to a conference or meetup. Then I load WoS with an on chain transaction which allows me pay with sats (ln) and that's about it.
It’s more fun to use bitcoin every day. I highly recommend trying it. 😀
