The amount of OG whales who have told me privately that they are planning to reduce bitcoin exposure (fancy whale talk for begin selling near the lows) is shocking. Many have expressed to me that their confidence is shaken in bitcoins future. Feels a bit like capitulation.

do you think that is because they want your coins?
What are they buying instead? Like I understand selling to maintain their lifestyle but they are going to sell and invest in stonks, real estate, bonds? Also I thought the OG whales were the ones that have been dumping on us since $120k and have been driving the price down?

My question as well. I’m by no means even close to being in their position, but this is how I imagine their main ideas/focus: 1. diversify and reduce volatility 2. knowing the risk of stocks when there’s a bubble & P/E ratios are bloated 3. knowing bonds will erode your wealth over time against inflation 4. they probably already have significant real estate exposure and don’t want to over-allocate I would probably buy, start or invest in small businesses like a farm.

sounds like typical investor panic. wah, my shares didn't go up same as last year. wah, the company only made $2bn profit this year instead of $2.5bn last year. wah, sell everything the sky is falling and the world is about to end if you want anything out of btc its a long game. gold has been typically boring over the years, but if you held it a house today costs half what it did in 1950, but its twice the size
Mainly they are just emotional I think and some vague notions about bitcoin failing its narratives or purpose
my man the amount of bullshit you accumulate here on #nostr is absurd 🤣 schizo @HODL feeling bullshitish today? wtf is going on? #asknostr
Prosperity causes burnout for most people. OGs losing their grit and optimism is a statement about them, not #Bitcoin. They are becoming swampified. Sell us your sats and return to fiat where you belong! #Bitcoin View quoted note →
Seems like trading the price not position. Many such cases. Nothing has changed, thesis intact

Sounds good to me, let’s get those coins widely distributed. Seems like an important part of the process.

There's a small % chance that the idea we all had about what Bitcoin would become, doesn't transpire. At least for a long time. Instead, Bitcoin essentially gets narratively controlled for the public, the elite and bankers fool everyone to control most of people's holdings, and Bitcoin replaces S&P portfolios. The banking institution could plausibly keep the price suppressed for long spans through market overselling (to each other, or through opaque markets) so retail fights it out and sells coins to institutions further centralizing holdings.. There's a small chance, say 15-20% that Bitcoin just becomes new Gold for banks mainly. No huge pleb revolution. No millions of node runner etc. This is a real plausibility.
They've been reducing exposure for a solid 18 months, they killed the bull run for fiat. It's freedom money and everyone can do what they want but on chain data was loud about this.
If the bulk of their net worth is BTC its probably advisable to sell some to mitigate risks. Would spread distribution of coins to more shrimps (hopefully). The ability of papercoiners to manipulate short term price, the enshitification of the chain along with centralized mining to enable that are legit concerns
I wonder if this means less that this is the capitulation or if that the capitulation is coming soon. “Smart money” dumps and then retails dumps. I guess we’re seeing the groundhog’s shadow.
Is it safe to assume that those friends of yours do maintain now some fiat status (board member or advisor to Bitcoin treasury companies, expensive lifestyles, celebrities, etc) and in reality don’t care any longer for the separation of money and state, and improving the future for humanity? If that is so, they are Saruman. Intelligent but unwise.
Pussy «OG’s» If we have ever learned anything from how bitcoin moves in fiat terms. It is that it’s at this moment right here that you throw everything and the kitchen sink at the damn thing. History ain’t kind to cowards.
People are people. They will regret it BC the brightest part of bitcoin's future hasn't been seen yet.
Unfortunately this is true. I think a lot of it is just blowing off steam though and getting negative emotions out.
100% this. People are afraid to say this out loud and want to treat bitcoin's success as a foregone conclusion.

Well am talking about people who've been in the space over ten years and are fed up with what they see. Not sure that's necessarily weak handed but fair enough
Maybe they're just trying to capitalize on what jews are doing to Saylor because they see the direction Fink is going. Unless these "OG whales" are jews themselves then that would be a different sign entirely. Assuming you're being honest here, why would they even tell you this?
I don’t think any of them factored the Jews into their decisions lol They told me because we’re friends and we talk on the phone.

I see what you mean. I wouldn’t blame people if they just got burned out. But honestly I have just tuned out X and only selectively follow accounts on NOSTR. Limited my podcasts lately too - just haven’t been motivated to listen. With all these practices, I’ve avoided the drama and I don’t worry much.
People in a coma don't count! Seriously, I guess some folks just won't take the time to learn about what they own. People are weird.

5 years ago I said to some friends about how I feel buying when the price is low is so unfair to the people who understood it for years and kept buying higher. They thought I lost it. Anyway, no matter we are on the right track. Distribution is good too.
I am buying $50 everyday, please add that into your data. Have a good day 🫡
@strike isn’t accepting AUD anymore, and new wallet tracking rules take affect in Aus tomorrow. I’ve cancelled my DCAs and closed my exchange accounts. Not sure how I’m going to accumulate from here. It’s been made much more difficult to participate somewhat freely down our way. Feels a bit like losing

When everyone goes silent, that's the buy signal. The underlying value of Bitcoin hasn't disappeared.

Don't forget about the plebs dude Many things to be bad, but many more good. Sunshine, plants, vibes. The evil one wants to sew seeds of doubt in your mind. This is nothing but a bump in the road. 🫂
When you're used to parabolic bull runs and they stop, it would be a bit of a shock. But failing to understand why and thinking it is somehow bearish is doing themselves a disservice.
