What if you just register as a company?
I will not do KYC, much rather not have a company than have one that attacks privacy
1 Question: Who would pursue such a thing?
The "They fight you back"
They could have just left us alone.
Instead they choose war.

And I hope everything will be fine around you! 🫂🦙
Could the same thing happen to Damus? They’re based in Canada and facilitate the exchange of value without a government license.

I'm confused why you ran the service custodially when you could have easily made it non custodial by wrapping the invoice. Then it wouldn't be money transmission
Oh 😞🫡🫂
How easy would this be to implement?
This is so messed up….hang in there, you’ll rise above this🫂
🤙🫂🫂
Nvm. It’s PHP. Don’t have time to learn that.
Lawyers are always trying to create new rules so you pay them more.
These were in-house and their decisions arguably cost the company hundreds of millions. So, dislike them, though we may, this is where we are.
My point is that wriggling away won’t save us. Fighting back on their territory may.
Fuck this commie dystopia.
A dark day. Thanks for putting it on the line for the plebs. God bless you in the days ahead.
Problem is, having kyc is building in the direct opposite of the direction we want
Damn that sucks…. Sorry to hear this
keep fighting the good fight brother
Do you have the option to register a company overseas in a bitcoin friendly jurisdiction without money transmitter licensing requirements, then run nodeless out of there?
Do you prefer it is not? Wanna let folks know but will honor your preference here.
Also, looks like one can still signup on nodeless?
The end is near. Banking collapse any day now.

🐤
How? How did they get to know it was you running it? Are you doxxed?
If you're saying you don't want to kyc/doxx yourself... Wyoming in the USA gives you the option of registering an LLC without entering your name into public record. You just have to hire a registered agent to do your registration. Though then you run into unfriendly US regulators. I'm sure there are other overseas jurisdictions you could do similar. Perhaps Estonia?
No
This is really a bad news. Sorry 😔
😢
😮.. Wtf. Sorry to hear.
Really a bad time, other than Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Christmas coming up....
I'm very sorry for you, I sympathise.
It's gonna be a really bad day when Nostr clients and relays get the same treatment.
We all need to spread benefits of Nostr to the masses but unfortunately when I talk to friends and family, they see me as a shadowy super coder.

Probably a good idea to DL the repository just in case.

I bet u can find a friend in the US to host it for you in a VM and give you remote access.
Feel sorry for freedom loving Canadians. Hope that another instance of nodeless can soon reborn. Thanks for your commitment to open code and transparency 🫡
Will say a prayer for you. Remember, this too shall pass & I hope you are acquitted of all charges
Thanks for your efforts to the community. Keep us updated.
There is no "court of law" or "justice" to be had if you don't have private property rights.
King Charles III is the head of state.
King Charles III and his private government writes the laws and owns all the land and all the people within.
No one has private property rights, the basis of all other rights, which means they have absolutely zero rights.
You don't own yourself, "your" children, "your" money, "your" bank account, "your" house, or "your" land. You own nothing.
You're a slave.
What is the point of walking into a courtroom if you're without private property rights?
What is the point of even having lawyers? Lawyers doesn't have property rights, either. The lawyer is just another slave.
In a court of "law," the only thing being decided is who gets to keep his privileges, and who doesn't. "Justice" need not apply.
In a court of "law," it's you vs. His Majesty King Charles III. The slave owner wins.
The plebs only have privileges. Privileges can be taken away, rights cannot.
Canada is not a democracy. It's a full-on dictatorship. This is written.
A slave can only revolt.
Kill of the entire British Royal Family.
Finish off the cleanse with a complete physical elimination off the entire Marxist nomenklatura of the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, etc.
Americans and the Europeans should do the same. Annihilate the entire Marxist state apparatus, from top to bottom.
This is the only right a slave has.
Fucking commies..
Stay strong 💪

Sorry to hear. Happy to help anyone with anyone wanting to run a node. 🤙
It was.
Until Fidel banged Pierre Trudeau’s scumbag wife.
Now we have Justin. Intentionally destroying our way of life.
We’ll be back.

Can I run this node through my Mac mini?

To 'gain a new territory', rather than fighting on theirs, might be an idea. I'm pretty sure someone notable used that phrase, a while back ;)
Bitcoin is money in Canada now? LFG!
PS. we know it is not recognized as currency in Canada so that should be your first defense.
Force their hand.
I would keep running as per usual or you are admitting to wrong doing.
Fuck them.
More like English absolutely monarchy.
Know your history.
Better, still.
I have so many questions.
What was / is the difference between signing up for paid service or running your own instance?
Can you move your business to another country and still offer the same service to Canadians? Or go completely behind tor?
Thank you for everything you do.
Stay strong brother, we are all in this together...
This feels anything but arbitrary. Will someone in the EU be the next?

This is the harsh reality of: Then they fight you. Stay safe. Have a bugout plan. Thank you for your commitment and can't wait to see what you buidl next!
Yep, it's a commie shithole, run by commies
Holy shit! All the best and hopefully you come out of this whole situation unharmed.
El salvador fixes this.
Lol, counterfeiting scammers trying to claim our database is money and that they have jurisdiction over it. All the stuff that's happening now is the signal for bitcoiners to gtfo of the collapsing fiat empires before they start lashing out wildly at *you* next. You don't owe them anything, you are not their property. Opt-out.
how would that work in this case?
This is utter 🐂💩‼️
I really hope all this is cleared up as quickly as possible.
Take care, everyone ✌🏾
Different systems for different people. There is room for monarchies, a natural human order system, and room for libertarian free states. Not everyone, every family, tribe or culture views their system as slavery. Some view it as an extention of their genetic and cultural family.
The American style revolution replaces monarchy with celebrity, god with money and family with media. The french and chinese although very different replace monarchy with the state, an artificial creation.
We should have one or a few free states, libertarian, voluntarist , whatever. Like Bitcoin they provide an alternative if abuses go too far in other state structures as they cycle through various factors such as economy and population age.
I appreciate where you are coming from, but its short sighted in regards human behavior, needs and inter human relationships.
A subject of a monarchy is not a slave, but they are not "completely free", neither is an american, and less and less so. I can point to several people in prison and actually persecuted in sipposed free countries for every one "under investigation".
But they were more free. Following your same arguments even americans, who must always pay property/land tax, subject to the draft, and all sorts of other things, are slaves.
I know this sounds statist, but in light of the fact your alternatives have yet to proven to work for millions of people and be a better alternative (slavery is allowed under some libertarian visions) i can be "anti" statist and also acknowledge it could be much worst, that monarchy and democratic states have some good features, and i can then also further claim that a non-violent transition to a better one would be good, without contradiction.
Your post calls for violence, which itself would lead to an NAP violation of people who enjoy monarchy. Have you considered that under libertarian principals the king is just a large inter generational property owner? Property Rights as you conceive them did not exist before terra nullus, for instance. All property rights also derive from the ability to enforce them, thus for americans this transferred from the king to the state system and minor kings, presidents. Someone had yo claim all lamd, to then be able to parcel it out. How could it be otherwise ? All the while these minor kings maintained slaves , while the monarchy actively abolisged them, for capitalist reasons by the way, not just humanitarian.
You need to read more history, the violent stuff. Touch more grass and travel more, meet people and live in other countries. OP can pay a fine, others can continue work on it, the community can learn the dumb and obvious lesson that releasing potentialy controvertial software under your real i.d and without opsec is dumb and obvious, by now. They can move, work on new things.
But killing monarchs instead of slowly making them irrelevant and symbolic, is burning down the house to kill a mouse.
Cypherpunks write code. They don't kill or fed post.
Fuck…

Saving for posterity - never know when I'll want to make my own BTC payment gateway..
Except then they can claim he's into international money laundering too :(
I can't wait to sew them rush it, get backdoored by China in some rando dependency, and have to roll the whole fucking thing back.
Fuck Justin Castro
Coming after Bitcoiners aint? The Lib government doing this at the behest of the WEF of course. The slimy bastards.
The way his previous way worked was create an invoice and then after it gets paid immediately send to the person's lightning address.
Instead he could get an invoice from the person's lightning address, then create one of his own with the same payment hash. Once the invoice gets to him, he pays the original invoice from the lightning address and use the preimage to settle the payment to him.
Damn it, hate to hear this. I appreciate your foresight and making this open source. Hope your lawyers give them hell. Keep us plebs updated as best you can.
El Salvador is only one stolen+rigged "democratic" e-voting election away from: turning their narco gangs loose again; and joining in the WEF's vision of the future.
I'd never move anywhere that doesn't grant me the right to at minimum defend myself.
I'd love to see it make its way to a startOS marketplace.
🙏
Jack should just hire you to bring lightning to cash app
Such saddening news. I wish you well, Nick. Stay strong and hang in there 💪
Thank you for all🙏
Wait a minute - bitcoin is not money, so you have to pay taxes from it, but on other side, it is money, when it comes to illegal money transmission. Nice.... Goog luck with that stupid rules.
Thank you for your service to the ecosystem, UTXO. Stay safe 🫡
Shit. I’m really sorry to hear that. 😢 don’t hesitate to ask for help if you need it.
Sad to hear this. Stay safe mate.
I can't tell for sure but I think the power of the product was in invoicing for payees that are not constantly online, or don't have a reliable LNURL presence
Man, this is a bummer to see. Sorry you are having to deal with this. Hang in there utxo 🤜🫂
Just because "they" say it is illegal, makes you think the laws are there to keep the plebs under. Anything we will create for a better life making "them" irrelevant, they will make a NEW RULE: yes we have to make that illegal for no logical reason at all, blaming everything for "Your protection" or "National security".
KEEP THE FIGHT. THE MORE THEY FIGHT US, THE CLEARER IT GETS... THEY ARE LOSING.
We always knew its was coming but its still sad to see Canada do this. Wish there was some way we could help 🫂
And Umbrel and Citadel
Wait wait - so could you mount a defense that, in the eyes of the government, bitcoin isn’t money? There is no value being transferred?
Plenty of evidence that they don’t!
Possible
Damn! Good luck!
This is fucking horseshit.
Hey man, what’s your telegram handle? I added nodeless to a couple sites and it’s a shame to see it go
It required you to have an lnurl
Yeah, that's what worries me about el Salvador. It all depends on bukele holding on to power
How does "accepting btc payments" equal money transmitter?
I remember the website saying they can even pay you on-chain. if it required LNURL I don't understand what the service was... just invoicing for e-commerce?
Can't you just move it into another country?
Sorry to hear that, keep up the good fight and protect yourself!
But it doesn’t come as a surprise that this happened in Canada, because it is fully controlled by the families and banksters who control the British Empire (which was only renamed to “Commonwealth” without actually changing what it had been doing for centuries.
I recommend reading or listening to Matthew Ehret in order to understand how destructive and dangerous these families and their empire is.
How was this "fast"? This was predicted since before SegWit was implemented.
Totally expected.
They eventually will.
Canada has fallen.
Any podcast episode you can recommend?
I heard it explained on the Bitcoin Rapid-Fire podcast episode with Jeremy from Escape to El Salvador that there are more than a majority of those in the El Salvadorian government who are orange pilled and that even without Bukele, their country's stance for the foreseeable future echos that of Bukele's El Salvador. Seems like many living there are not concerned with any US meddling.
I’ve been in the payment industry for over a decade. I am 100% certain this sorta shit is coming down on US operators. Stay vigilant friends.
