I wonder if you could somehow automate off-the-radar recommendations or users and posts? This is sort of what I was thinking of for an improved 'trending' posts. Currently trending posts are showing the most followed accounts, even their boring posts because of read-receipts. Trending could take follower count into consideration. So a small account with 15 likes is considered more than a huge account with 15 likes.
I am not sure that the effort and the pleasure of discovering small gems, and sharing them could be substituted with an algorithm. I like the idea of growing my network on Nostr in a slow, personal way. Following suggestions from people I already trust, or randomly wandering from one npub to the next. 😉
Really? I see very recent posts from all of them. Yes, some are not very prolific, but I hope they will continue posting quality stuff.
I understand. I was sorting of thinking tied in with a way for clients to show new people something beyond bitcoin. I think that is a lot of people's impression of Nostr (perhaps not all that inaccurate, it is predominantly this maybe). Personal discovery will always be there imo cos algos won't pick up on everything. (Hashtags and topic-focused clients help somewhat too for discovery.)
What I would really like are clients with an "advanced search" feature. It could make the scouting of the Nostr universe more efficient and effective. E.g. search profile description only, search post with videos, ...
Yes, that would be very useful. I think eg searching for people with a substack as their website link could bring up interesting people, potentially at least. But yeah, there are many possibilities this could be useful for

Bushido is bullshit; a fabrication
What I did myself was to make a client which searches ALL communities and shows me their creators. So if I like the Community title, then I follow the people in a special list. With the time, I move them to my real follow list or I remove them if I don't like the messages.
Another interesting way of finding new people is Listing all nostr communities and adding the owners of the ones you like. I listed 300 of them and added around 20 people to my list in this way, including @Essencial. If there's interest I can put the site online.. it's very simple
No, you dont have to be interested in bitcoin. There's a lot of lists of accounts out there that focus on other stuff. Try out different hashtags based on your interests This is just an example:
