Don't have one. Not really important who Satoshi is, just that he left.
I personally don't care about his identity. Its moot, the tech is out there. End of story.
“I have nothing to do with bitcoin. I never worked for the company…”
always loved that line 😆
i think its hal finney
I wonder if a connection between the late computer scientist, Hal Finney, and Dorian Nakamoto could hold the answer to the creator of Bitcoin’s identity. 🤔 🤔

Hal Finney using his neighbors name 🤔
Or Satoshi had a prior relationship, uses Hal Finney's neighbors name to throw everyone off 🤔
Hal is Satoshi
Wow they mention it below again … wtf
I'm more interested in the identity of the mysterious creator of Nostr 🤣
I think its bogus and believe the name was chosen by a group for the interpreted meaning.
Was* RIP Hal 💜
Hal plus british spellings 🤔
They have sweet matching glasses.
Hal is a cryonically frozen transhumanist who had whacky ideas about Bitcoin backed banks
🌎👩🚀🔫👨🚀
🤫
Convincing
How unique is it tho?

Very interesting!
I'd say freezing yourself upon death to come back when tech allows, is prolly the best way to hodl Ive ever herd...
Hal is satoshi.
aaron swartz is satoshi nakamoto
I've always tried to avoid speculating on that, but the more time goes by the more likely it seems
I remember reading this article in 2016 and it just made so much sense.
Hal is Satoshi, and he probably never imagined the experiment he created would end up being so successful at the time he assumed the name.
He probably met the guy on a run, learned his story, and decided to pay tribute to him this way.
I love mysteries like this.

With all due respect, he’s not
?
?
Have we officially written off Ted Nelson’s guess, Shinichi Mochizuki?
I think some combination of Hal and Len.
Rip
Decent chance it is. But imo stronger chance that Hal worked with Len and knew it was his pseudonym and they collaborated on the nym for Len. Hal knew but it wasn't him.
Best to be low key though. Let it remain the mystery is ought to be.
And anyways, Toshi used, borrowed and converged a tonne of previous work anyways. Going back decades.
We are all a bit of Satoshi now. ⚡️
🤔
🤐🙊
I mean, it's literally called cold storage
Woah...interesting.
Points for mentioning Wayn and Google plus. Lol.
There’s barely anything on the internet about Michael Weber.
this has always been my favourite theory because noone mentions him and he was involved in setting up satoshis domain and email. If hes not satoshi he might be the only one alive who could know.
also the sakura house thing is a weird coincidence
Satoshi is John Nash, but most of the usual suspects aided him in one way or another

Yuh fr
Why is it important to you that he left?
not a fuckin clue. 🤘🏻🎈🧛🏻♂️🤙🏻
So that the network doesn't have a King that reigns over the decisions made on the network like Vitalik does with Ethereum
Why do you think he left..?
Tough to say. Some think he was worried the CIA would find him and either kill him or lock him up? Maybe he knew the network was in good hands at that point & could only thrive without a leader? Maybe he was interested in pursuing other interests?
Beg pardon my buttinsky. If I were Satoshi, I would GTFO and enjoy my anonymity. Anyone that noble needs no acclaim and detests the fawning accolades of fame. No amount of “reward” can buy one’s peace of mind back. I regard him/her/them as messianic. Could I be wrong? Sure, but it gives me hope. ₿ hold!
It bothers me when Dorian Nakamoto’s likeness is used for Satoshi.
Absolutely, that could be another reason as well 🤙
How do you think people would react if Satoshi was ever identified?
I'd imagine it would be a big news headline but he's been gone for so long that the network would just keep chugging along like nothing ever happened.
Tick tock, next block.
Do you think after he was identified and the excitement wore off he’d be able to just be seen as a dev among devs? Or would he have the weird quasi celebrity status and his statements about bitcoin could sway the market?
Do you think Hal is Satoshi because if Satoshi were alive he would have found a way to speak out about CSW and the court cases?
This would explain a withdrawal from the general populace.
He’s still here but anon
What exactly do you mean when you say messianic?
Not meaning to be sacrilegious. I offer that one who brought redemption for many who were perhaps lost, misled, or reviled, must be a sort of savior to lead them out of the wilderness so-to-speak.
Prophetic perhaps?
That seems like a lot to put on a man. Do you think you would feel that way if his identity wasn’t a mystery?
Doesn’t matter tbh.
Definitely the latter.
Perhaps too fantastical, I admit. But, it is pleasant to ascribe noble designations to the creator of my new religion.
Can you be certain he is a he, not them, or her?
I was defaulting to he for simplicity sake.
Just to clarify are you using creator of my new religion literally or a bit tongue in cheek?
Sounds good 🤐
Perhaps I am far too tongue-in-cheek, for lack of any better explanation, I speak metaphorically.
Not likely. There are communications between them. Are you suggesting he was conversing with his own sock puppet to fool all of us?
Nope. Finney wouldn't intentionally direct the swarm towards his old friendly neighbor.
I admire one who can build a global whatsit that pull others out of poverty and degradation and then walk away in such an apparently unselfish, modest manner. I suppose he/she/them/it could have been killed. It is endlessly fascinating that such a one could exist, similar to Jesus and his miracles and sacrifice. We have no hard proof of either men/entities; only hard proof of their legacies.
I'm really convinced Hal is Satoshi, but am not much interested in investigating it in any way and the main reason is that I don’t like to see the family of the man who gave the world hope be put on the spotlight and get pressured.
One of the motivations for Hal to hide behind the Satoshi mask was the legal trouble they got into with PGP. With that experience, the fact that he and Phil Zimmerman went through so much trouble and that for something that didn’t even undermine the Goliath of the central banking, Hal knew better to put his real identity on the line.
I’ve read the Satoshi-Hal emails, but I’m not a computer scientist. Is there anything in that small PDF that Hal is indeed a different person from Satoshi? I don’t think so, but am open to being proven wrong and learn something new.
Unless I’m presented with some objective proof that Hal is a different person from Satoshi, I am not prepared to think otherwise.
Jack must know like no one else.
Totally agree. Seems unlikely to go through all those lengths to obscure your true identity but then use the name of someone who lived down the road from you.
Finney being Satoshi or being part of a “conspiracy” with others never made sense to me. Why go to such great lengths to hide his involvement in v0.1 only to doxx himself shortly after as the second bitcoin user?
I mean - it is a really, really high probability he is.
Finney clearly was Satoshi.
But he is Satoshi.
It’s also got to be frustrating for Hal Finney’s family
I don't care
It seems plausible that Hal Fenney is Satoshi, but it is speculative. Thanks anyway for sharing.
I think I might know who Satoshi is but I agree he should stay a mystery forever because it’s better that way.
I think Satoshi was previously Valiant Thor but I know that doesn't help 🙃
I'm just glad we seem to be moving past the 'it was NSA' theory circa 2014
so all that he mined is gone forever? i hope he came with a succession plan
