I know a lot about bitcoin and investing and economics, but at one time I knew nothing about any of these things. 20 years ago I knew nothing about investing. 11 years ago I knew nothing about bitcoin. 7 years ago I knew nothing about economics. So what changed? Well I was curious and then I followed that curiosity where it took me. I became obsessed with the things I was obsessed with. Some people look at how expensive a house is and think they’ll never afford one, other people think “I wonder how I can make it cheaper?” And then they learn to build a house. Time is going to pass. Your time is going to pass. It’s been 10 years since I’ve been in bitcoin. That time passed and I know plenty of people who have nothing to show for it. In fact that’s the norm. I’m the exception. You know why? Because they weren’t curious about anything and I am. I care. I care about my life, I want things. I believe if others have it so can I. Somebody out there has the life you want. You can have it too, but you have to give a shit about yourself. You have to talk differently to yourself. You have to focus your energy. You have to break free and very often you will have to go it alone. But the time is going to pass regardless and do you really want to have nothing to show for it? Don’t do it because you need to prove something to other people. Do it because you’re not living up to your potential otherwise. Do you want all of the best things about you to remain hidden and buried and to one day rest alongside you in the graveyard? Or do you want to be who you were meant to be? It’s your call. I made my decision some time ago.

Hodl always dropping heat 🤝. The average person seems to have little to no curiosity these days. Sad to see.

i got interested in economics around that time, too. tried discussing what i was learning with friends. i was either shrugged off or told i dont know what im talking about because i dont have a degree in economics. it sucks because a lot’s changed for me since then, but them not so much. as it goes i guess - you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make em drink.

15 months ago I got this npub and my first Sats from Nostriches. 13 months ago I bought my first Sats. Slowly, we're getting in the same direction.
Btc is the one opportunity to free humanity from slavery. Gold had its opportunity but it got captured. Any other reason to Bitcoin is wrong.

Things I got curious about after learning about bitcoin (in no specific order): nutrition-raw milk/seed oils/meat; economics; espresso (wtf); fasting; dahlia farming; guns; homeschooling I was a curious normie before Bitcoin but it broke me out of my she'll. I've read over 50 books on many random topics in the last 3 years.

We do these things not because they are easy, but because we thought they were going to be easy

One of my favourite words is why? One of my least favourite is free. (In financial terms) We gotta be curious and sceptical. (Don't trust, verify..) ☘️

I'm currently struggling between being the most attentive dad ever and developing professionally. Any tips? I know what my priority is though 😊

I crossed this bridge myself and chose dad, that said I think you owe it to your family to do both. I once heard that kids really just need 15 mins of focused attention each day to feel truly loved and supported. I do more than that, but I always make sure to give them their 15 minutes minimum each day.

I’ve heard similar, the quality of the time is more important than the quantity. Before my boy was born I might not get home until after 8, rarely before 7. When he was born I made the decision to always be home for family dinner. And do you know what, my work didn’t suffer because I wasn’t putting in those extra hours. Knowing I had a hard out every day helped me focus on getting the most important tasks done and letting the busywork ride.
“Do you want all of the best things about you to remain hidden and buried and to one day rest alongside you in the graveyard?” That hits. Jazz that up with some ai gen image and you’ve created the dankest of memes.

Absolutely, don’t let being called lucky pass as if it is a thing. Be curious, put in the hours, get better, then keep learning and keep improving (continuous improvement cannot occur without continuous learning Garvon 1993). It’s not easy, it’s not quick, but it will get you somewhere if you keep going. 6 years ago I was restarting investing, with zero knowledge, now I save in a better asset, sounds simple but it took a lot. If the person who calls you lucky says it sounds like hard work, say fuck yeah, faint heart never won fair maiden. Also;

Being a dad is certainly top priority though I struggle with the balance myself.

life is so much better when you just get comfortable being curious and not knowing anything knowledge compounds like wealth does and if it starts with a dumb question then shit, ask away

Jesus agrees with you 😉 “It’s also like a man going off on an extended trip. He called his servants together and delegated responsibilities. To one he gave five thousand dollars, to another two thousand, to a third one thousand, depending on their abilities. Then he left. Right off, the first servant went to work and doubled his master’s investment. The second did the same. But the man with the single thousand dug a hole and carefully buried his master’s money. “After a long absence, the master of those three servants came back and settled up with them. The one given five thousand dollars showed him how he had doubled his investment. His master commended him: ‘Good work! You did your job well. From now on be my partner.’ “The servant with the two thousand showed how he also had doubled his master’s investment. His master commended him: ‘Good work! You did your job well. From now on be my partner.’ “The servant given one thousand said, ‘Master, I know you have high standards and hate careless ways, that you demand the best and make no allowances for error. I was afraid I might disappoint you, so I found a good hiding place and secured your money. Here it is, safe and sound down to the last cent.’ “The master was furious. ‘That’s a terrible way to live! It’s criminal to live cautiously like that! If you knew I was after the best, why did you do less than the least? The least you could have done would have been to invest the sum with the bankers, where at least I would have gotten a little interest. “‘Take the thousand and give it to the one who risked the most. And get rid of this “play-it-safe” who won’t go out on a limb. Throw him out into utter darkness.’

About the same timeline here. We're 10 years behind @npub1rtlq...jtfs regarding Bitcoin but it only shows everyone is on his own stage of development.

It costs nothing to be curious. Bitcoin taught me how few people are curious. It was shocking at first. Curiosity is freedom. Freedom is risk. Most people do not want freedom. They want safety and comfort. They want to be sheep.
