How have you been dealing with the reply guy and what client do you use? I feel like most people are still suffering with him or just got used to it, which is bad.

I saw them for like a day on Primal and never saw any again after that. I think I muted the original ReplyGuy but that's all I did. That was either enough or the default relays/Primal did more for me.
ip rate limiting kills most of this spam, if you pick a few high quality relays that does bostr filtering and rate limiting you won’t see much of it.
I’ve made suggestions to allow filtering on NIP05 (ie no NIP05 = no notification) but apparently that’s not perfect enough for client devs to give us that option so I’ve had to get used to scrolling further in my notifications to interact with real Nostriches keeping this place alive. Mostly on Damus
I felt that way too, but honestly we need stuff like that to happen before mass adoption because state attacks are coming and shit like that is child's play compared to something like Stuxnet. They could really hurt Nostr as it is with that kind of funding. Every attack will ultimately be good for us in the long term, in my opinion. This one causing so much choas is a wake up call.

On Damus, been muting them but doesn’t work that well. I don’t like the idea of a follow based WoT so won’t be using that filter them out. To be honest, I feel primal and wavlake are bigger problems than the reply guy.
I think it chased off some people who'd just joined. I haven't changed much or muted anything so I could try to see what transpires. I'm seeing less the last few days, but still enough that it's probably cumbersome.
haven't seen him since a few days on Damus and Primal - but maybe I also haven't clicked into many posts to see replies.
Nah, this is necessary. Much better than one that posts porn or phishing scams everywhere. This guy is forcing us to build solutions for a problem we have been procrastinating on.
I don't see it much on Amethyst but I've also added filters to block it. I see it occasionally on my web client (Snort; haven't messed around with my old one, Coracle). If your client allows filtering names, there are terms you can use to block all of those IDs. You can also switch up your relay setup or move over to paid relays only.
he's 80% of my replies here on NoStrudel @hzrd149 any kind of filters are nothing more than censorship. bots need to prove they're human. no bots should be allowed to post and no humans should be prevented from posting. every relay must keep a list of allowed NPUBs that have passed a captcha test. of course in the long run with AI these tests will stop working but if they work TODAY we should be using them.
As soon as i post a reply (like this one) there is still 1 of my relays which seems to let it go through. Maybe i should contact one of the admins (since i know them personally) but it is the last one. Not even sure how other relays have seemingly fixed it, but it seems to work.
i should also note that i am using a lot of relays ( like 11 ) and many of them do not post i wonder if they think i am reply guy. they were more reliable it seems before him.
Na minha realidade, estava até gostando do Amethyst. Criei meu "mundo Nostr" a partir dele.
For some reason my filters will show blank until I add a new one, then they all come back.

I use primal with default relays. I hit mute now and then but doesn’t seem too bad right now.
I haven't had much of an issue on Primal and I think I was away when people first started talking about this thing because I don't even know what the big deal is supposed to be

🥹 I don't want to know, but I argue that filtering is a service

Damus, dropped all my old relays, seems better now.
yea i'm on the camp of "still suffering with him or just got used to it". / on primal I like what Coracle is doing though with their WoT settings and how they're calculating it.

He blew up primal. Searching a #tag will show him occupying 95% of the feed. Haven’t touched my relay settings, not sure what I’m supposed to do
I tried to play around with relay set up, but because i'm a bit thick all i managed to do with almost brick my feed, I still get 'event not loading' a lot lol the thing that actually worked for me was adding the image url to the block list in amethyst when a spambot comes along with no image i'm not sure what i'll do then lol. maybe finally learn how to use relays properly ...lol
Tricky devs don't want you to know this, but relays aren't real, nostr is p2p and all relay settings do under the hood is just break your peer list when you try to exert too much control over your network node

I had him come in one of my notes be posted my note I muted him twice and another one came. This is spam i guess. But what 's it all about?

*be=he 'he posted my note as his own i seemed.
my recommendation is that clients should do a 1-2 line change in their code and reomve all comments from anyone who has replyguy in their name heh
I'm using a list of "spam-safe" relays but apparently I am missing a lot of replies from people whose clients are sending their replies to my inbox relays. When browsing other people's notes, though, this technique doesn't work well or needs more thought because people replying to others are not going to send their replies to my own inbox list of relays.

Pay Hurdles. Have rate thresholds that trigger when X (e.g. 3 posts, 16 reactions) events per minute are done. The hurdle is an ecash token run by the relay, payable by zap. When paid the Relay returns an ecash token of bigger size. This progressively scales the resistance. If no hurdle payment made with 30 days the content is pruned from the relay into cold storage (this keeps integrity). The pay hurdle will immediately ruin spammers, but allows new users to onboard (post and and like) without difficult setup.
#Damus got me. Muted “him” week ago. He stayed muted. Then Reply girl started posting once. Muted “her”. Moved on Reply Family free.
