I joined Nostr at the beginning of the month after having my Facebook account blocked. I've since deleted my Instagram posts, leaving an invitation to join me here. But I haven't had much success yet.

This is such a great idea! As an account that is not about bitcoin and has fewer followers, it can feel like a waste of time posting and getting no response, so this really helps! 🙌
Yea boosting and quoting others' posts is helpful, but we're gonna need to be proactive about sharing people we find valuable.
Its telling that there's a bunch of likes on this post but only 2 people have actually taken the time to share their favorite follows.
Not a great sign for the viability of nostr for young accounts that aren't already big on some other social media. Most of those get pumped by the larger accounts (then those new people eventually disappear after posting and ghosting doesn't get as much engagement as on the algos)
I wonder if that’s a function of simply getting seen in the first place - small accounts of course have fewer followers… so the crossover between someone following them and someone seeing/following your post is smaller still?
Either way I’ve just followed a couple of folks from your list with accounts that seem like they could be interesting, so thanks for the pointers!

I keep seeing posts about recruiting more people from other social media to post about things other than bitcoin on nostr.
The problem with that is there are already so many on here doing that but posting into the void at times.
It reminds me of the company that only hires externally and doesn't promote from within. Or the sales department that only goes after the glengarry leads instead of nurturing the sale that was already made..

What a list! You should definitely post a pic of all the books you are reading 😁 I sometimes read multiple books at once like what you’re doing but not this time around. Psychology of money is a great read and I think am due for a re-read, what is the inheritance cycle about? The book I’m reading is available everywhere from Amazon to Barnes & Noble. Definitely is interesting to say the least and have learnt tons from it

Oh so glad to hear you liked Psych of Money! Only a chapter or so in but already finding it valuable.
The Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini is a fantasy series about a boy who becomes one of the last Dragon Riders. We both read them as teens and seeing if they hold up now that we’re older hehe, am enjoying the dragons 🐉 ✨
I’ll post a reading update and talk a but more about the other books I’m reading soon!

Seems like a perception problem. So many accounts on here don't talk about bitcoin and nostr at all.
One of the main issues I see is always looking outside of nostr for more users when so many are here or came and went with no engagement.
Finding and sharing young accounts is how nostr wins. Word will get out when people realize how different it is to x, bsky, inst, etc
