Hey frens... I know a lot of you do the carnivore diet, and I'm considering getting on board. I did Atkins many years ago and got good results by eliminating carbs. From what I understand, carnivore works similarly. I'm trying to get back down to my sexy weight, so a solid diet and gym regimen will be key. The gym is the easy part. So, if you do carnivore, I'd love to hear your experiences, as well as pointers, or recommended resources. Thanks! 🥩 #asknostr

Lots of salt. You should be eating around 5 grams per day. I mix a bit of iodine fortified table salt in with good sea salt, I like Redmond’s.
Eat fatty red meat. Lamb and beef. Eat a lot. Your body will tell you what’s right as you progress and become fat adapted. I eat 2.5-3 lbs of beef daily.
Try to eat within an 8 hour window to give yourself time without food in your stomach daily.
Wow, that much, huh? So, I'm basically eating meat and fat and nothing else? I assume I'll have to take a daily fiber supplement as well as vitamin supplements?
I run a lot and noticed bad cramping and heart palpitations on pure carnivore. I added in fruit and all of that went away. Might not be everyone elses experience but it's what has worked for me
No need for supplements man.
Eggs, meat, salt, butter and maybe some dairy if you really crave something else.
Don't be afraid to consume too much butter/fat. Your body will need it for energy, since you're not having carbs anymore.
And the first few weeks you might experience some liquid poops, but that will go away after a while.
Good luck 💪
Are there any online resources you recommend? I'm always hesitant to rely on a particular online source as a layperson because we all know how easy it is to make websites that look very professional and credible, yet push a lot of disinformation. Getting a recommendation from someone who knows the deal is a lot more productive! I appreciate you taking the time to educate me!
I'm 2 yrs carnivore myself. What do you need to know?
I can't really recommend anything, since I learned everything myself by doing it.
I do listen to some Shawn Baker podcasts but idk if that will really help you..
I was just thinking of diet resources, appropriate food lists, meal prep info, different recipes, and other similar resources. I can probably find all that stuff by employing some of my black belt search-fu, but I just figured I'd ask people like you if there are any that you recommend. Out of curiosity, do you know how the diet has impacted your LDL?
Hodl Harry is dropping gems. I'd agree with the notion of feeling it out, just increasing your protein (meats) intake and then seeing how your body reacts.
Like if you have one egg usually, have three and drop something like toast. Increase your steak size or such things. No need to go fully carnivore and feel miff.
Carnivore + fasting is great, but if you're doing proper missions (3 + hours hikes etc) then you need balance.
Humans are hunter gatherer nomads, so eat as we found rather than grew. Hunting, fruits, fish, nuts etc.
Also, carnivore means you shit less, almost never because protein and fat gets absorbed and used by the body so there's no waste lol 😂
Thanks man! You're also spot on.
Don't need to complicate things.
I've also gone from only meat to adding some dairy, because with full carnivore I wasn't feeling 100%
And yeah, if you're only eating meat and eggs, you'll hardly have to go to the toilet 😁
I find 5:2 works well for me. It fits my lifestyle, and the way my brain works. Find something tat suits you!
No idea about the LDL man.
One of the things that scares me is my intestines. When I did a very-low carb diet in the past, where I was taking in <25g of carbs per day, the weight loss was great, but I got diverticulitis and had to have 7in of my colon removed. That was a uniquely awful experience that I'm fully opposed to repeating, so I'm keeping that in mind as I hone in on the best option for me.
Did you experience any noticeable weight gain when you reintroduced milk or other dairy?
These are great places to start. These are real doctors and smart people who studied carnivore. What they have to say hold weight and is credible. The low carb down under channel has an incredible wealth of information too. Also check out Dr. Ken Berry’s YouTube channel. He has likely done a video on any question you have.
Yes, but I was trying to bulk since I kept losing weight 😅 I workout and do heavy labor job. I still look lean as fuck though 😅
that sounds intense. I can understand that as I worry about it, my dads been in hospital recently with a twisted bowel and so its in back of my mind always too.. im also trying to start it and it is hard to find quality stuff but i watch videos on YouTube and try and stick to doctors not influenceers
been doing it for few weeks and have added in some sauerkraut and some sweet potatoes back in for bit because I experienced the opposite of what everyone says about going through a period of the runs at the start of their journey
but im coming off vegetarian diet so been huge jump for my gut. maybe I need to add way more salt than I am, I've def upped my fat intake because that's supposed to help keep things smooth
all the best with it and your goals💪
Thank you. I’m day 3 of strict carnivore and badly need some more info.
Dr. Anthony Chaffee (YouTube channel - Plant free MD), Dr. Paul Mason, Dr. Ken Berry (@Ken Berry, MD) are all great resources and have content that will cover any questions you have.
I’m on my third day of strict carnivore…desperately for health reason and pain relief!
So far it’s quite an amazing transition.
I found that Kevin Stock guy helpful but I think what others have written in this post is gold and thank you!
🙏
@Nadia these are the basics I’ve learned being on carnivore for 2 years now.
I stumbled across Kevin Stock who provides a good explanation of the adaptation phase…sleep impacted and toilet changes. That has helped a lot so I didn’t get scared off at the start.
Definitely. I’ve heard it can take some people up to 2 years to fat adapt fully, but that’s not necessarily typical. Still it takes awhile.
For me it took at least a year to get all the way there but the changes have been great. I think back to when I was insulin dependent and needed a carb hit every 4 hours and absolutely cringe. I’m so much stronger, more muscular and resilient now. It is so obvious to me that humans are suppose to exist in the “ketogenic” state.
Oh and keep in mind with my numbers on salt and meat intake I’m a 175 lb man who is very active and naturally with a big appetite, adjust for yourself accordingly.
Amazing thank you
Do you have any carbs before training? Are you doing the honey banana etc thing?
No just meat and salt and I use grass fed creamer with my coffee but it’s a small amount. I do eat four or five slices of sharp cheddar a day, that’s like my desert. Usually after dinner me and the dog have a little cheese party.
I personally think honey and fruit isn’t a good way to go. Insulin spikes and no benefits. Fruit is typically rich in either lectins or oxalates and sometimes both. I’ve seen people who are doing meat and fruit / honey who are still holding fat and bloating and having health issues who stop the fruit and honey and make the transformation to a more lean and resilient version of themselves.
I used to occasionally eat a little fruit as a treat, and still will if it’s around. But that’s rare for me now.
Ok thank you.
Yeah me and fruit is a disaster
My advice as somone about 4 years in:
1) Drink plenty of water during the transition. Your body will dump all sorts of weird fluids (mostly out your butt) that it no longer needs because you're not getting carbs any longer.
2) Some people say salt helps with the transition. I started with lots of salt on my meat but don't add salt any longer.
3) Play around with how much fat you're getting. You may need a lot of fat, especially if you're relatively lean. 70/30 ground beef is a good cheap option and fatty steaks (eg ribeye, strip, chuck, picanha) are a more premium option, especially grass-fed.
4) Be careful about processed meats. They can have junk in them. Most will have some degree of added sugar. I'm sensitive to celery which is in many processed meats (as an alternative to nitrates). Even without junk, "fully cooked" meats will denature the vitamin C and you need the little bit of vitamin C that's in fresh meat. Fresh meat is known to *cure* scurvy, but a diet of only canned meat (for example) is known to *cause* scurvy.
5) I started off doing all sorts of organ meats and shellfish and a fair bit of poultry, but over time I've gravitated more and more to ruminant steaks (meaning beef, lamb and bison). If you have a craving for liver probably you have some deficiency and a bit of liver will be good for you, but you absolutely should not force yourself to eat it.
6) You may avoid dairy entirely or you may find some dairy works well for you. For me pasteurized dairy is generally no good (stomach upset and/or keeps me pudgy) while raw or raw-fermented dairy seems fine. Butter or especially ghee is basically pure milk-fat so it should be fine regardless of pasteurization.
7) Eggs are another good option. The yolk is where all the nutrients are at. I usually discard the white and eat the yolk raw. I buy either pasture-raised (so the hens have plenty of opportunity to forage) or the cheap factory farm eggs. The in-between (eg cage free) I don't think offer any nutritional benefit over the cheapest eggs and only dubious animal welfare benefits.
What was happening was you were exceeding your guys capacity for fat processing. If you dial back the fat / muscle meat ratio your diarrhea will likely resolve.
Steatorrhea, commonly referred to as ‘street’orrhea in the medical field. Street food is usually off the charts for its ultra processed fat content, and your body just can’t digest it. This seems to be a common trend in carnivore, as folks try to figure out the balance of (healthy) fat - protein ratio.
Oh god the toilet thing has started 😂😂
It’s somewhat satisfying though now I know it’s all part of the process.
How's everything going?
How's it going?
great.
when you gonna stop your dinking around entirely typical entitled western nigger female bitch shit and answer the legitimate question I asked you on what you would prefer to hear the west being called - in the context of not seeing it utterly destroyed, since you cant defend what you cannot define - Christendom ?
Lots of languages call their own culture and place something super generic like "the people" and "the land".
I don't think you need a special name unless you want to subjugate the real people to an imaginary ideology.
But broadly speaking European culture, white culture, English culture are all worth defending (and more to the point European peoples, whites and the English).
Amazing thank you! All my little and big issues are gone. Even strength training at the gym feels better with no aches and pains
Insane huh? I had so many small issues resolve once I went strict carnivore.
Everyone in my family rolls their eyes when they’re complaining about health issues and I tell them it’s their shitty diet. It’s so obvious in hindsight but the fake-nutrition propaganda runs to the bone.
Oh yeah I’m already that person in my family. Their lack of self discipline gives me the shits 😂
And they protect their intellectual and dietary laziness by pretending that I’m the crazy one. Even though they’re all on anti-depressants and have multiple legitimate health issues and I am on no medications and by far the fittest and most accomplished person in my family. Their dissonance is next level pathetic.
for instance, the terms "the people" and "the land" are subject to arguments that are difficult, if not impossible, to defend against the "evil colonialist" position.
They have no "higher" argument in other words, whereas Christendom has the metaphysical justification - i.e. "cannibalism bad, gardening good", etc....
saying you dont need a "special name" is disigenuous as the battle, if not won with words, will be kinetic and ugly.
Yes, it's going to be kinetic and ugly
i guess we will see...
It can be quite heartbreaking can’t it…such a strange psychological stubbornness
couldnt help but wonder yesterday whether or not you have let the words of this book grave your eyes?
its just over 100 pages and, from the little I know about you, I doubt you will walk away without gaining something...
I would be very interested in hearing your thoughts about it if you ever wanna take a gander - HIGHLY recommended!
Believe it or not, the author Guènon with his writings, and including the rest of the "Traditionalist" "school" writers and thinkers, completely informed the energies opposing "modernity", "globalism" , etc... that have awakened the contemporary reactionary movements in the West...
And he wasn't a Christian... fw(ever)iw.

I've seen this but not read the whole thing.
I'll take another look.
I agree with the title but little else.
This much more nearly summarizes my views:
This does in fact summarize my views (because I wrote it):

give me some of the examples of the "little else" if you wouldn't mind?
I don't agree that Eastern civilizations are fundamentally pro-tradition while the West since the Greeks is fundamentally anti-tradition
I don't agree that Catholicism represents the best chance of restoring vitality to the West
I don't agree that the West both prizes action over contemplation and is simultaneously overly rational
I don't agree that the West's core flaw is a lack of religiosity or attunement to spiritual matters
I DO agree that Western science is somewhat fragmented and often misses key things because "experts" specialize in a narrow area without understanding how that narrow area interacts with the broader whole
so then, if a return to Tradition is not in the cards for you as a solution, what then are you after for the masses?
... they are not going to be thinking about the subtleties - so whats the solution for the majority of people who are unable to think for themselves?
THIS is one of the reasons TRADITION is so valuable as it offers both the esoteric and the exoteric, at varying degrees, for an entire spectrum of people with varying degrees of intelligence, understanding, spiritual inclinations, even responsibilities...
As you seem to reject this tack, what are you going to replace it with?
You, apparently, leave no room for something like Divine Providence or Revelation, to guide "humanity" to something new that offers the same depth and breadth of utility for both civilization and the internal lives of its members...
So what then?
To a very rough approximation, I think the West needs paganism rather than Christianity.
you familiar with Evola's writings? another "Traditionalist" whose profound writings often conflict with Guenon's...
seems to me you have some false dichotomies regarding the school of Traditionalism and the Ancient World vs. Modern...
Why? because Evola and Guenon are both well-known and respected by folks on both sides of this, including myself....
anyway, your original presumption about my goals and intentions is a bit limited as I am open to much more than your comment seemed to indicate.
whichever way, return to Revelatory Tradition, or the Strong Gods of Old, seems to offer something much better than whats going on now.... I just don't forsee the masses gravitating to paganism, or for that matter, IT being a benefit and adhering to intended outcomes (prevention of the destruction of whites and their civilization-type) simply because they are not sophisticated enough. My general impression is that it would breed just a different (perhaps though better) chaos like we have today...
