We're all permanently online. Just in different locations. One is decentralized and censorship resistant. The other is the opposite. You can tell a lot about a person by their actions.
Twitter doesnt even exist anymore yet some desperately cling to the past
It’s like arguing that moving from fiat money to Bitcoin harmed the freedom movement. Now, those who are fighting for freedom are fragmented. 🤷‍♂️
Agree. I wish there would be an easy way to fix this, like exiting the algorithmic deplatforming hellhole that is twitter/X/etc and clicking a button to create an nsec, and shitpost freely. Alas, as it is now it's almost impossible to escape. image

Well, Twitter made some very bad choices about how they ran the place and drove a bunch of people away. It is their fault, not Nostr's. Nostr was founded as a refuge so that we never have to go through social media censorship like what happened between 2017 and 2022 again.
I think that Bitcoin Twitter was doomed from the beginning for a very simple reason: Bitcoin is about decentralization. Twitter is about centralization. Not a good fit.

I'm curious what specifically he is complaining about that he thinks would have changed. To me, it's pure hubris to think that a slightly larger echo chamber would have meaningfully affected adoption or any broader cultural saturation.

I thought Bitcoin was based on math not community.
I disagree. As an event dude that thinks about bitcoiners as my market (as well as my friend group) I see this change as a natural progression. As a group, we are growing in number, which naturally leads to segmenting and specialization. (think village -> town -> city) We are also growing up, having kids, etc. etc. Nostr did not “fragment” us, time did. It was already happening on Twitter when Nostr came about, and a certain subset of us (the better subset…my favorite subset….)naturally gravitated here. The fragmenting does have downsides, but growing up sucks. My life is unequivocally better without Twitter. And I believe the world will be unequivocally a better place with Nostr.

So that's the reason for the bear market without previous bull market?
