Somber and emotional morning in Hiroshima, Japan that unlocked the door to a very powerful conversation with my son. The emotion, fear and gravity of a situation where we’ve always lived in a world where horrific things happen in order to divide and control people had him convinced that there was no way out….and that it would happen again. Because that must be a part of us and we wouldn’t change. We then talked about how it is happening right now in parts of the world with most people turning a blind eye or making it stronger by believing that there was a side to win inside a system that relied on manipulation, coercion and control for its survival. As I brought up how #bitcoin is imposing the opposite system - one of truth, hope and abundance, and inscribing the best of us into a protocol that changed the system we have always known - he pushed back - not believing that “we” could or would change fast enough to avoid the worst. I asked him: What about you? Where is your energy going? Is your fear of what others will do keeping you from realizing what you can do? With that……he saw that we were each the change. The light in the darkness. And that no one had the power to take that from us. That every mind changed contributed to more minds changing and further understanding that we’re never going back. Yes - the system change will be chaotic, Yes - there will be many things keeping you in a perpetual state of fear to keep you locked in. Yes - There is a high probability that the world goes to war again. But how can you contribute to the world you want to see? Hope > fear Love > hate Freedom > control Abundance > scarcity

A very difficult but equally beautiful reality to face is that our "round" might not be the one that does it - but if we don't carry a flame, we guarantee the future is dark. Whether we get to personally set the blaze ourselves or "merely" pass the torch to the next bearer, maintaining, growing and sharing the light is the answer for every individual.

I visited Hiroshima many years ago and found it an incredibly moving experience. My memory is of the kindness and welcoming offered by the locals, particularly in presuming I was American. How they had translated the horrific events into a collective desire for peace was powerful and not always the outcome of lost wars. I have greatly respected the Japanese for this. Beautiful parenting moment, the power and importance of imagining better

What a moving and powerful lesson for your son. Thanks for sharing it with us Jeff 🤩
What a lucky kid to have such questions posed, and a strong steady thoughtful father to guide with good heart and strong conviction. Your outlook always uplifts. Thank you.

How beautifully written, you beautifully experienced! Be the change you want to see in the world. Don't depend on other people's transformation. Simply be the transformation. We don't walk alone.

Thanks Jeff, my children start to see they individually are the permissionless change, that paradoxically is the way for the collective’s improvement of conditions, but they are still too much in « Humans bad » mindset. I will share this conversation with them 🙏 🧡

Been falling into a bit of depression recently over the thought that many of us work so hard and everything we build can be snatched away so easily by war. Needed to read this reminder to stay positive.
I've been thinking of revisiting some Krishnamurti. You are inspiring me to do so. 🙏
Powerful. This caused me to flash back to a September 2001 conversation with my 8 year old daughter. She was watching the World Trade Center collapse and we had been staying there 3 weeks prior. She asked, “Dad, what would we have done had we been in the observatory when it happened?” I had prepared my whole life for why is the sky blue and where do babies come from. It was a surreal moment and I wasn’t sure how to answer her. Bitcoin is hope.
I visited the Killing fields in Cambodja, the tunnels in Vietnam, had parents that survived as kids WW2….it all feels so unreal to how people can do such terrible things to each other over and over again? yet…”we” do terrible things to each other since human existence, one can only hope that on a Bitcoin standard things will get better for humanity

One of my favourite things about you, Jeff, is your willingness to be vulnerable and present. You are beacon for this in the Bitcoin space and it is so needed. It’s a great reminder for all of us just how compelling these qualities are and that if we can be brave enough to engage with others this way it will, actually, brings people towards us in a positive way. How lucky your children are to have such an emotionally available father. 🙏 #loveandbelonging
The Ray Dalio’s book , “changing the world order” explains how the big and small cycle inner mechanics work. In the existing system, conflict, revolution, war, unfortunately, is inevitable…
I promote @Richard Greaser 's track 'use your brain' as anthem of @Jeff Booth's valuable situation with his son. h/t @FL Justin for tagging #dadstr which made me discover @Jeff Booth's note above. h/t @Wavlake for being an interface between creators and consumers.

Beautiful. 🧡 Many Gen Z including my own feel terrified of the future despite me trying to emphasise a more hopeful purpose. I strongly believe our children will find their own path but it helps to have positive influences around them. I’m working on slowly shifting their reality but as I remain not only part of but also embolden the system I criticise, my approach is wrapped in cognitive dissonance and thus holds less legitimacy. The forces against are very strong but I’m hopeful we’ll get there. ☀️

Powerful statement. 'Is your fear of what others will do keeping you from realising what you can do?' I expect many parents are going to experience variations of your apprehensive moment with your son. I hope I can instil the love and care you shared when both of you were so vulnerable . Thank you for sharing such an emotional moment.

Thank you. I've bookmarked it - like many others who have offered the same service . I have so much to learn on Nostr. Your moment with your son resonated. My son seems to think BTC is a rug pull. Thinks I should stick with gold. His concern is the Genius Act and KYC. I believe the BTC community is creative enough to work their way around this obstacle . Watching with interest. 'Is your fear of what others can do, keeping you from realizing what you can do' - applies to me too.
Yes, very difficult to wage a profitable war since you cant take private keys from dead people. Bitcoin is a peace technology
As I said before: “Don’t pay any taxes and that’s is real defund . You should own nothing , use nothing from “civilized world” and live isolated in the woods / mountains. In other words , is almost impossible with any tools we have including bitcoin do not fund them .. Bitcoin and “defund gov” is just a story for kids . “

This is predictive programming Jeff. First off and moralistic insight would have to involve the truth and by that I mean about nucs—there is very real evidence around those cities being carpet bombed to death and then the usual Vatican inspired government spin of a new psyop of fear… I understand by explaining it it makes me look like the conspiracy theorist but factor facts you’re not considering those at all. You’re just taking authority for granted while saying you’re fighting it.?
