Parents sent this picture from the homestead in MO.
The windmill in the picture was the main source of power for a water pump on my Great Grandfather's farm in the early 1900s to keep water available for the livestock.
An aluminum smelter moved in and needed the land that my Grandfather was now stewarding. He had the lowest time preference and held out the longest because that was home for him. The company paid for a new house, and 500 additional acres of farmland 30 minutes away to buy his land. The windmill went with him as a reminder of his roots.
My uncles who ran the farm in the 90s wanted to get rid of the windmill so my Mom asked if she could move it to our homestead. It was placed on the piece of land where God spared my Dad's life (a tractor rolled while he was leveling the land and landed on him...he somehow made it into the house before collapsing and my Mom got him to the hospital asap).
It now is a beautiful reminder every time I see it of the gift of life and family. Time is precious and FAMILY IS EVERYTHING. Beauty is everywhere when your heart is open to receive it.
