Sometimes the decision is made for us. I’m all in on Nostr since you got hacked. If enough of us come to the light we will have a similar platform, group and we hopefully won’t ever have that happen again. Not very helpful I know. I saw this happen with Dawn and her facebook account for her dog rescue nonprofit, angels for animals Puerto Rico. She lost 10s of not 100s of thousands in donations over the next year. The message from Facebook was almost identical language. Pathetic that a technology company isn’t interested in working through their own issues. Maybe you’ll end up getting a human at X to help at some point.
They said all you can do is open a new account. I suggest @LawrenceLepardIsOnNostrNow. Just post your npub weekly.

This is so disappointing, especially as you didn't only want to just "preach to the converted" with your book. Your goal is to wake up and educate everyone who's suffering the effects of fiat currencies and help them understand why.
My suggestion is:

As much as it sucks to get locked out of what you thought was your own account, this experience is teaching others an extremely valuable lesson about data ownership.
Now that you’re building a new presence on Nostr, make sure to back up your nsec in more than one place. I use two different password managers and an offline backup as well. A $10 USB stick in a fireproof lockbox should suffice.
The only person who can lock you out of Nostr is yourself.
keep trying. And be aware that nobody could help you if it would happen to you on nostr.

Same thing happened to me a year ago. I didn’t have the following you have, after a day or 2 I just opened a new account. Just last week I searched for my old name and someone has it. There are a few posts with Asian writing, and then all my old posts. I contacted them again to try to get those old posts attached to my new name and didn’t get much help again
Good idea about the USB stick, I use several clients (is that the right word? Apps) and Damus has remembered it for me, although I’m preferring Primal these days, and I’ve written all those characters down on paper, but USB is easier

Twitter is most definitely a useful tool. It’s also a time suck. Be careful with your time Lawrence it’s the only thing more scare than bitcoin.

Yes! If all your clients and keys are on the same device, you don’t have redundancy. I know several people personally who lost their Nostr profile because their phone got lost or stolen and they had never backed up their nsec. This can be easily avoided by copying and pasting it somewhere safe in a different place, or even writing it down on paper like you did.
Try showing up at headquarters and live video recording it on some other social media site.

Youtube just threw up this link for me. I have never seen any content from this influencer. Nevertheless, I began watching, and it became immediately apparent that his story involved losing access to his twitter account, and he recounted the story of a fake interview set up via Calendly and Zoom from reportedly a reputable news organisation. His experience also led to $10s of k's loss of alts from his hot wallets. All just a few days ago.
Just thought that this could be similar to your experience.
