Nostr is about replying. Engaging in conversations. Building your social graph. There is no algo to spoon feed you. Effort is rewarded. image

I hope more of my favorite hobbies become prevalent on Nostr. Sometimes difficult to find people to follow.
I’ve been here for a short time, but my impression is that is much easier to get engagement on nostr than trad social media. It might be because I share interests with the majority here, I don’t know. All I know is that this looks very much alive

Nostr is quiet but I like it. Almost no toxicity. image
I don't join any social media for money or engagement. My use of both Nostr and X are the same, e.g. post, follow, comment, repost, dm... Fuck money, fuck fame. It is about being genuine, seeking truth, and enjoying each other's company as humans. View quoted note β†’
this is probably the best part of #nostr !! No alogs to give that dopamine hit 🎯 I like the calmness around here and the fact that I have more time to take in the information without the overload.
I am todo shy for that. I rather keep stalking the people I follow! πŸ˜…

Exchanging Pure Human Empathy is rewarded. Before Money there was Barter, obviously that was mainly before Money but it was also many thousands of years before people had numerousy. Imagine trying to exchange things without Money and more importantly without any concept of numbers. The real exchange is very hard to imagine as part of a Human Construct. If you try and forget maths and Money too, which is very hard to do, you will realise that the exchange is the pure human empathy of all parties. Money has never been able to perfectly rate that exchange. Bitcoin gets very close to perfectly rating that exchange. Nostr is trying to exchange the same Pure Human Empathy, but without the security and protection of the Bitcoin protocol. This is not a criticism, it's an observation of the process of evolution, well that's my intention and what's in my mind as I type this. The power to say and exchange what you want, is only a power in the long term if you do good. The exchange of pure human empathy by, close to, immutable truth, is a power for good. I doubt whether you can abuse IT, but the power is in you, why would you try. Peace ❀

NOSTR seperates Signal from Noise. I love it.
I do want people to follow me, but just because I’m hilarious. Would hate for anyone to miss out.
I call the Notes to Reply ratio the Reciprocation Ratio. Ideally having more replies than notes is a successful strategy in community building.

To be honest, that graphic is what X is like now, even with algorithms. Engagement and energy is just way down from the old days. And all the fake accounts don't help any. Even a censored place like Bluesky has more energy these days, go see for yourself. But you're right that if you want engagement on Nostr you'll have to try harder than I have so far. But that's ok. Right now it works the way it should -- I get to see the content I want to see, chronologically displayed, not what the algorithm deigns to show me. Completely uncensored chronological feed = underrated Quality of content/discussion is far more important than quantity of followers. This is not X and shouldn't try to be.
Yep. We have been groomed to love the algorithms! YT, IG, and most others the same. No cognitive effort needed. No critical thinking required. Just slide into the bubble of your own making. Yikes!
I did a week without twitter replacement clients. Used Fountain, Wavlake, Hable, Ox, Zap.Cooking, Nostr.Build, Tunestr and etc. Used Nostr through the other stuff.
Nice. So as a content creator I can look at Fountain (not iTunes) Wavlake (not spotify) Habla (not substack) Etc I think one of the reasons I got burnt out on previous platforms is the sense of how futile one’s audience actually is, you don’t own it, & it can be removed at the drop of a hat Plenty to work on!
And plenty more is coming. It’s a veritable torrent around here. I can’t keep up. Not even close. In a way, it’s like we forked the internet from 1994 and are rebuilding all that came after that again. This time without β€œwalled garden building materials”.
NostrApps.com is a solid list to play around with. Keep in mind this projects are still being built for the most part. Nice to jump around from time to time and see development. Here’s a little graphic I made which highlights the vast array within the ecosystem. There are a lot more now since I made that and the list continues to grow. πŸ€™πŸ» image
Thanks for this. I need the reminders to not just passively scroll
I’ll be honest… as much as you are on top of the news and updates via Bitcoin And… There’s no way in hell anyone can keep up with the projects and news of the Nostr ecosystem. And we just know the English projects. Who knows what’s going on in Japan, Thailand, etc. πŸ˜‚πŸ€™πŸ»
woah, TIL! Had never heard of them - jamming now. πŸ™ Thanks for the recommendation!
Yeah except no one here talks about anything interesting no matter how much you try. Only retards like me stay with you fags because we hate ourselves.
I like this concept of rewinding to the 90s & starting again It frames the amount of potential value creation ahead But we’re obviously well aware of the problems ahead if not built right
Nice repost of same content we have seen many time πŸ˜‚ If you really want to contribute then create real world value first and then make it accesible through nostr.
So true. Only been on #nostr a couple weeks and conversations are actually engaging, intelligent, educational, etc. unlike the battlefield of X.
Twitter sucks. It feel like I have been shadow banned on twitter for life.
Exactly, just like how it was on Twitter in the beginning, it was people building a social network. At least it's cool to be part of this early stage πŸ˜…
D&D, Warhammer 40k, Anime to name a few. Sure it's there, but there's certainly more room for growth.
My recommendation as well. You can also spin up a Nostr relay via StartOS
Nice. I want to engage more, although sometimes I feel I am only engaging to take something and not to add something due to my current limited knowledge on the topics that are most discussed and attract me the most.
This look me a while to figure out, but legit makes sense to me and have found Nostr more interesting.
I assume you are talking about Primal? If your feed sort? There are some clients that choose to do this and others that do not.

Best explanation I’ve seen.
Totally ok in my opinion. You have to take more at first when engaging in new topics. On the other hand, you might bring value even if you only ask questions. Maybe you ask a question never ask before, shining a completely new light on a topic?

I don’t miss the algo at all. I’ve tuned my feed to just how I like it.
