Russia's demands for "peace" were that Ukraine would nearly eliminate its military, and they wanted veto power on anyone else helping defend Ukraine. Even from Russia themselves. Obviously, Russia was just trying to make Ukraine defenseless for yet another invasion. Ukraine already tried negotiating peace with Russia multiple times; Russia has broken those agreements each time. Peace agreements with Russia are worthless.

There is a view from North America where people have to pay taxes for the war in some remote place when Russian is actually not a threat until things escalate and ICBMs start flying. There are different views in Ukraine and I am sure not everyone finds this war the same way.
