Almost guaranteed to underperform over time. Some of best days come immediately after the worst days - which the guy would likely miss if he got out to avoid a drawdown.
Simma down now. I’ve become a bit disillusioned with Swan since their custodians started going bust, but I still think they’re a net positive. Suits gotta put their money somewhere. They’re gonna give up some return for lower volatility. Not the same market FTX was after

How does this specific strategy *blow-up* like FTX shitcoin trading? Missing out on bitcoin appreciation is one thing … but bitcoin / cash to avoid the liquidated long positions doesn’t seem like a terrible strategy if an entity had the tools and calculations to do it. The market eventually will build these tools which *should* smooth the volatility of bitcoin (without dampening bitcoin’s overall success and limiting the profitability of these strategies overall). Not advocating for the common person or common business staying humble and stacking sats but if you have the tools, the exchange, etc. like swan does I do see how this could work. Am I wrong? Would appreciate a legit conversation here…not just the typical maxi response (I consider myself a maxi and don’t trade … I just use swan and have recommended swan for years).
Listened to Cory’s first statement. His guy with 20 years of experience is going to try to time the market. RUN FOR THE HILLS!

When everyone was saluting Cory for slaying shitcoiners, I was calling him a shit coin cannibal. Wake up people he was literally eating his frens
Yes brother, absolutely. I hope the best for them, but to say I have concerns is an understatement. Doesn’t help that every “influencer” is being paid by Swan.
I’ve never had an issue with Swan over the last 4 years with withdrawals and etc. during all the bull shit we’ve seen. This is a completely different product than purchasing Bitcoin and withdrawing to cold storage through Swan. With that being said I love the Bitcoin community for this reason. Continuously challenging and there is simply no free passes based on reputation alone.

Yes, no free lunch with strategies like these. When I was running advisor best advice panels, I'd get plenty of new strategies pitched that I'd turn down. They always sounded great, but all of them did considerably worse over a full market cycle than just holding the plain assets. Half really crashed and burned.
being open and upfront about selling bitcoin when you excpect big price drops and buying back before an expected rise is okay in my book 🤔
I cant stand that guy. I deleted my swan account after they moved from prime trust and his constant fud directed at others. In my opinion he's toxic and a blowhard.
in eastern europe it's standard practise that when someone becomes successful in a business, the government connected monopoly owners muscle in and demand to buy you out, or else people think that is so corrupt and so different to what happens in the USA no it's exactly the same, just the little crappy second world countries don't have such big money or spectacular dramas around it and not so often they resort to hitmen but it's the same View quoted note →

buy from swan and withdraw to cold storage. besides that, who cares.
The use of such an algorithm would amplify the expected price action based on the preceding price signals. Would merely cause additional volatility and would miss out on long term trends that it was not foreseeing, like, hello, the 4 year price cycle!
In 2019 someone contact me for a job in web3, they required 5 years of experience in the field... when I explained that it's impossible, they said: yes it is , we found some other candidates with ten years professional experience.

In clown world this is possible, almost like required.
Buy 6 months before the halving. Sell 18 months after the halving. Charge fees for the “service”. Then start adding leverage to goose returns. There is probably a law that all custodians will take greater risk in the quest for higher revenues until they eventually blow up.

Am I the only one who doesn’t hear this “20 years in Bitcoin trading”-thing? I don’t know the guy nor Swan, but come on guys…
What would prevent Cory / Swan from front-running their order book?
While you were busy trying to get people to like and talk about you, @ODELL was making risky decisions in allcaps.
I'm really sad to watch this happen. I just watched Bitconned (Documentary on Centra Tech during the 2017 ICO bullshit), it's frightening hearing Cory talk like this. I really like Cory but all I hear is shitcoining. I'm hoping for the best though but I may just be throwing good neural energy after bad. I know he used to be good so this talk makes me wonder if something blew TF up inside of Swan and this is all Hail Mary type shit. SHIT!

Corey was a shitcoiner before he was a Bitcoiner. I thought all that was behind him...
Lol! Mr Smarty Pants. Point is that bitcoin, gold etc in retirementt accounts have to be held by custodians while you are contributing according to IRS regulations. I dare say you can withdraw if you are able to & self-custody but be prepared for penalties if the IRS discovers it, & with the new regulations for LLC's having to report to FINCEN (self-directed IRA's require LLC's) every year that is more likely to happen.
Correct. The attacks on private property by a failing empire will increase. The unfortunate part is death throws can last years. But they only persist if people allow them to.

This like looney tunes where the coyote already ran off the cliff but hasnt looked down yet, gg swan
The first tell I got from him that is very SBF too is that he is always doing something else besides just the interview. I’ve seen him eat a meal during multiple interviews. Even if he is just sipping a mug of coffee he is always doing something to signal you don’t deserve his full attention.
Last year I tried to open a Swan acc. They rejected saying my account is "high risk". Despite not opening the account yet and never touched leverage in my life. Good riddance I guess.
