Its disappointing how boomers let the US leave gold standard but here we are
I’ve worked with addicts most can’t let go of what’s familiar, even when it hurts them. Disappointing, yeah, but even if one Bitcoiner switches to Nostr, it’s worth it.

I’ve removed X from my Home Screen and replaced it with Nostr
For what it’s worth, I never got into twitter/X since it seemed to optimize for echo chambers and kept reverting from chronological feeds to try to feed me crap. I check nostr for no more than15 minutes every few hours, I get caught up on stuff and respond to posts, and I feel like I actually have positive relationships with strangers thx to zaps. Pretty good deal

I only use Grok from X. I'm a real Nostrich bitcoiner 😎💪
They're into Bitcoin for different reasons than they're portraying. I think it's that simple. In it for the tech? They'd use Nostr. In it for the revolution? They'd use Nostr. In it for NgU? There's no reason to use Nostr.
preferring to support a one server centralized app over a distributed protocol built by bitcoiners, especially with the backdrop of the last 5 years, is one of the more bizarre things to witness
Most are MSTR experts and say Bitcoin is for holding and enjoy custodial wallets. Saylor is also their hero.

Probably they are not true bitcoiners, I don't know.
Front run them, build real connections here! look at any social media platform before the top users are usually the ones that were first and got rewarded for it
Also, and this is something I see relatively regularly, but I think people are too focused on engagement. For whatever reason people don't enjoy posting into the void. The idea that there's no algorithm and they're not being constantly feed Either derisive or positive content is something most social media users aren't really ready to wrap their heads around.
I agree. I'm left scratching my head at the number of 'maxis' who still don't use Nostr. The two things are so philosophically compatible.
Yeah, it is a bit disappointing—but maybe NOSTR is something that speaks more to the new generation. After all, Bitcoin itself started over a decade ago with early adopters who saw the future. Maybe it’s just NOSTR’s turn now.
Can they really call themselves bitcoiners if they are not on and using nostr? “But muH reach” and “I make money on X”… yeah they make fiat… yes I can understand using it to make a profit, but why not do both equally and at least making real money on Nostr doesn’t require a middleman
Reason might be instant gratification pandemic. Nostr isn't that. Here you gotta have just a little bit more patience and will to learn new stuff. Most, doesn't have that itch.

There is a cool kids table on nostr that is hard to get into. Not everyone feels welcome.

This app does not work. I hear you guys promoting it on podcasts but when people come here and try it and find you can’t even add followers it’s not a good look. If the devs want it to compete with x make sure its basic functions work…. Implement the same features and algos that twitter is using and ppl will come over here if it truely is censorship resistant.

I used to use 'X' (or Twitter, before it became 'X') until I discovered I had been "shadow-banned" for months without having any prior idea (except for a lingering suspicion). Nevertheless, it's easy to sign-up for 'X' and there are no weird connection issues to struggle with; although we now know that Twitter was infested by Bots. Otherwise, for those looking to use 'X' from any platform, it just works, and is stable. With Nostr, we have a wonder-work that sure looks like it is chock full of potential. But for new Users there exists an assault coarse of obstacles to overcome that have next to no explanation (such as which Relays to connect to), and this "secret knowledge" is therefore opaque to all those who don't yet have a friend who's a Nostr Developer / Expert. On top of which, there's too many unfinished Nostr projects floating around that have been left free (without adequate explanation) to cause a nuisance. And if you are like me (I don't own a so-called 'Smart' phone out of choice) and use a Desktop to access Nostr, then you'll soon find you are being penalized for not squinting at a tiny screen being held in one's palm, and and building an over-muscularized thumb. Primal sits at Nostr's leading edge, but its focus is dedicated to the Mobile Community. Many features that you take for granted, we PC Users simply don't get to use because the two forms of access are following very separate development streams ... with Nostr Agents for PC Users at least 1 year behind. Zapping is easy to implement on Mobile Phones but far more difficult to do the same when building for PCs. I am not picking on Primal here. Far from it. Because this is a uniform reality that currently effects the entire Nostr space.
Never trust anyone who uses "ppl" ( sic ) because it means he types with two thumbs and hasn't really learned about technology other than it's something you pay for.
X is way better than Nostr, that's why. And there is no demand here for any wide variety of content and barely any engagement.
The only thing X has on nostr is the network effect if you ask me. That's why a lot of the people are still there. They have cultivated giant followings. Otherwise it's a hell hole.
The X algorithms are designed to find content that generates an emotional response in you. On X when you say something retarded everyone jumps in to call you out. On Nostr we curate our own feed. If you say something retarded, we tend to just ignore it. There's no problem with Nostr engagement.
Definitely a lack of the celebrities, tiktok dances, and insta girls / of girls selling sexual thirst. This is a quiet period before the arrival of all that. It'll be inevitable.
That which centralized platforms giveth, centealized platforms can taketh away. Bitcoiners still using X, probably still have a bank account and buy and keep their coins on exchanges too. Getting permanently suspended from X forced Nostr only. More than that, it made me look at ALL centealized platforms—YouTube, Substack, etc—with caution. Looking for alternatives. They’ll find out. One way or another.

The Bitcoin Breakdown newsletter always curates a few njump links in all its issues. Sometimes the majority of links in a particular section might just be njump links. It will also have coverage about Nostr-native tools and projects and opinion articles published on Nostr.

It's critical that we continue to do so, because if the goal is adoption than just chatting with the existing crowd here on Nostr is not going to do anything to help bring more people in. It may be based on the profiles that I am following in my feed, but the VAST majority of content I see here is directly developer or Bitcoin related. It's a tiny sub-set of the content that we could see if 8 Billion people were constantly posting their entire lives on it. We know that is the goal, so we need to focus on steps and milestones needed to reach that goal.
