Wrong way too look at it. Matt says he likes the MK4. I prefer the Q, and use it like a traditional checking account, but serious sats should be kept on multi-vendor, multi-sig. Don't trust, verify.

Maybe they’re on a redemption arc with their new thingy we’ll see
I'm not one of those people. I make an exception for a couple bitcoin companies to pay my monthly bills because I trust them more than the Too Big To Fail banks.
there isn't anything to worry about when you have your sats in cold storage on a Trezor, right? 😅
That feature is basically the same as 2-of-2 or passphrases, and the problems with 2-of-2 have been pretty well documented by now. I did my own research and architecturally it is significantly flawed. There are many weak points where you could be getting a backdoored device. The used secure elements are weak and outdated. “Don’t trust, verify” goes much deeper than reading some marketing claims about “ultra secure” from the vendor and I see too many people falling for it. New Trezor for example is “quantum ready” but any device within the last 15 years is as well. Personally I’d recommend something like a SeedSigner with a proper multisig and a BitBox maybe.
If you are wondering almost all the large influencers have financial interest in Coinkite or another HWW company so they would shill you something even when it is lies or misleading.

Some of the influencers Trezor brought in just don’t fit the vibe. It makes the whole thing feel less authentic. I’d rather see them stick with people who actually care about self-custody and open-source values.
I use a geographically distributed 3-of-5 multisig + seed XOR and Smanir Secret Sharing as a secondary backup in case the banks get shut down again. During lockdown, I couldn't access my Trezor for 3 months and that made me re-evaluate everything. I agree that seed XOR together is a bad idea. I'm currently playing with time locks using Miniscript, but only with small amounts so far because I'm not 100% confortable with it yet.
The MK4 has the benefit of HCM mode, which I assume someone in Matt's position may have use for. I imagine most individuals that aren't running a business may not find it so handy. The keyboard, on the other hand, is a quality of life improvement.

Open mouth syndrome
They prefer to write articles about why airgaps aren't as useful as we think. Stinks of "filters don't do anything." Airgaps aren't a be all and end all. But they are one element of a solid security strategy, and writing it off is exactly why I'm not a Bitbox customer.
Agree. Left Ledger YEARS ago. But (AI geneated) they have done a great job sellling it. The most widely used and popular Bitcoin hardware wallet is the Ledger Nano X, which is considered the best cryptocurrency wallet on the market in October 2025. Ledger, the company behind the Nano X, holds the largest market share in the hardware wallet industry.

It literally isn't though. Data flow control is not some "nice to have" feature. You, as a human, literally don't know what information is being sent over NFC, Bluetooth, and USB. Unless you use a highly sophisticated hub that is essentially a clone for data passthrough. I am still waiting on Semisol to give the non "trust me bro" explanation on why these devices are insecure WITHIN their use parameters. Secure elements without a broadcast mechanism, without code that (absent authorization from the owner) diseminates the secret, or a cryptographic flaw making it trivial to brute force, WHAT exactly is @semisol referring to?
Sounds like it’s about time to jump into your desired reality! With dozens of instructional books on the subject, my bro DC will make the trip smooth and easy, like a quantum qolonoscopy. #quantum image

Will you be getting the new wallet
They offered free flights and hotel along with a bunch of experiences which they kept vague. Pretty crazy marketing budget to do something this big. Had to cost $5k/head at least, and it looks like they had 400-500 people there, so $2M?

That’s how you know it’s secure. By the reviews. 👌
They gonna start hammering new devices out every year like smartphones or what? I feel like the safe 5 was just released.
If you ask Darth he'll just recommend tailsOS on a USB. HWW are gimmicks
Problem with selling hardware wallets is that you get one sale. Thereafter your options for income are to release a new version, or to try sell subscription services

I'm curious. What is your preference?
It shouldn't take all the things that Coldcard has in order to secure your bitcoin. It seems like they create features, then tubers all say it's the best. That device is the super advanced version for people that want to be cool. There's gotta be a better way for beginners.
They didn't fly me 🥺 The wallet is nice though, open source secure element. The fact that it has battery is a bit annoying.

What wallet should I be putting my .0000001 corn on now?
In terms of DX, I do not like it. In terms of security, it's pretty good. I cannot comment on any specific applets like Satochip but the underlying JCOS is solid.
It’s not easy being an inflooenzer, you have to make that face all the time, it actually gets quite painful after a while.

Ledger is Leaky Cold Card & Jade are hard to use(don't get me started about tech bros saying, "It's easy!"). Trezor is better than no hardware wallet at all. As Andreas used to say, "Too much, or too complicated security & you wiil lose your bitcoin..."
