I'm laughing at myself really hard right now. I assumed my chassis fan died years ago and just never got around to fixing it, but as I've had some random abrupt power failures, decided to get to investigating and looked into replacing the dead fan. So I opened up the case to look at what I needed. Well, it turns out, one of the really helpful things to do, with any fan, whether it's new or 14 years old, is to PLUG THE GODDAMN THING IN. Must have neglected to plug it in when I replaced the motherboard 7 years ago or so. Still not sure why the chassis fan speed shows as 0 rpm though when it's visibly moving now that it's plugged in...guess I've got some digging to do.

@npub10uth...xdlq I was just thinking earlier today how y'all always said you'd be here even if Bitcoin went to zero, (though probably that would be the last episode), and as much as I'm not one to demand anyone work for me for free, it put a smile on my face to see the episode drop today.

@Johnathan Corgan Has there been any thought or roadmapping around #FIPS bridges to things like #cjdns? I went and showed some folks over on ##slackware on liberachat and they definitely noticed the similarity -- seems like the big differences are around DHT and the re-encryption between hops, which make cjdns better for scaling in some ways while FIPS is better at handling low resource connections like BLE and (hopefully soon) #LoRA. Spitballing here, but they got me looking at stuff I hadn't really examined and I do always like finding ways to put together complementary tools in this sort of fashion so they "cover each others' back" so to speak. I tried to find if there's been anything brought up about this with a bit of searching but not seen anything yet. I'm not the most well versed in mesh networking though; apologies if this is well trodden territory.

Laughing at myself for how long I spent troubleshooting my fips connection. Looks like the test-us01 server just was (semi-?) down. Found a list of npubs for other test servers, and all seems to be back to as it should be. I noticed it while I was out last night and started ripping through configs thinking maybe it had only somehow worked because I was on the same NAT yesterday (which doesn't even really make sense because it's routing through a mesh that isn't, but when the things that make sense stop working I come up with some really creative ways that things MIGHT work because I think I've just watched weird shit happen with computers too much over the years). It didn't help that the test-us01 server url was resolving and able to be pinged too, which was the only real test the docs had, and given that I'm doing some non-standard stuff here, I definitely jumped to "I must have set something up wrong." Oh well, now I know my way around the system a little more.

GM The scratch off tickets were a total winning of $25, so no big deal there (though, it was on $40 worth of raffle tickets that also paid off a $200 gift card to a steakhouse and a keurig and candy coffee "lovers" basket -- something I find to be a disgustingly sick joke, but probably will help my wife get brownie points at work when she brings it there (I literally never even let that monstrosity in my house -- ESPECIALLY on national coffee day). Can't be too excited though; the whole thing was an all you can eat pizza event, and we were there for hours, and there wasn't really anything to do and the no food on the menu worth ordering -- I ate WAY too much pizza and may as well be fully hung over at this point. Gonna make sure to take the dogs for a walk, eat plenty of meat, and swing the kettlebell around today to try to exorcise the carbs...

Did you just call Coinbase one of the best in the industry? You know FTX isn't in it anymore, right? I don't think I could name anyone worse at this point.

GM Okay, I know last night I got excited about pinging an npub. But I just connected from my phone to my desktop's npub.fips and it just fucking worked. Can I really FINALLY be done with the monthly noip dyndns renewal process? After what, 20 years of being too cheap to just pay for a domain name? @Johnathan Corgan I think I might cry.
