See above -- the warning you have to "accept" to try this out. We have had a few users -- not sure where they are but likely in the "global south" -- Africa, Asia, etc -- who say they really need to be able to make small payments in USDT. Our idea was to try it out, and provide lots of "warnings" along the way. To be honest so far it's had very, very minimal usage. Might be something we'll abandon. Was interesting to implement and to learn about the various terrible existing solutions for stablecoins....
Say what you want about Monero. Nothing is as wrong as "Bitcoiners" adding totally controlled and surveiled pseudo CBDCs over "shitcoins" that at least come with some privacy guarantees. Grifters, feds, larpers, hypocrites, pedophiles, "lenders",.. The future for the Bitcoin community has never been more bleak.
Sure. I very much shared/share your perspective, but then I was thinking from the perspective of a low-income, unbanked person in South Asia/Africa/Latin America, who might find a way to earn in BTC, but literally has to spend money on food/rent/whatever in the next few days with a vendor that only accepts USDT.
You are spelling addictive drugs to junkies instead of helping them water the up and downs of life. At least you could have added Monero to provide some privacy that these "informal" societies will miss in a couple of years.
Another excuse.... using the south as excuse is pathetic already. We are not in Bitcoin to be able to pay for food more easily, but to fuck banks. By allowing tether you are just perpetuating the existence of fiat... going into an involution. image I will remind you a scene that describe perfectly why we are in Bitcoin and not in all that crap shitcoinery. Because we are willing to sacrifice everything for it.
You don't get it. You are helping stabilise the USD regime. Which will take the Bitcoin community that much more effort yo overcome. In the Monero community you have people that trade things based on long-term averages. It takes out short term volatoity for normal people. Will enable arbitrage for traders. Explain those people how to use an average price. What should have happened is a rapid adoption of Bitcoin as MoE and then longterm stability. Now we are in noman's land and stabelcoij adoption will lock us in for more years to come.
SoV narrative created the vacuum necessary for pseudo CBDCs to fill the gap. Jeffrey Epstein fooled a lot of Bitcoiners during the blocksize war. Almost ten years later and we could achieve the same node decentralisation with blocks much bigger, but with the narrative of being the internet of money. I know many of us won't like this, but the Bitcoiners that won't sign up for privacy (Monero), will re-evaluate bcash and likely find its tradeoffs less offensive than what Core did or is doing.

Another one bites the dust... (or being paid by shitcoiners) Time to ditch all the traitors. image

LOL that's not the right question ! All tethers are NOT running on any "chain" but on a centralized SQL database. The question is WHY do you support fiat. All tethers are literally fiat, aka scams. Perpetuating their use the fucking idiocy.
Did some experiments. There are a variety of bad options, but the main question was 1) how do we have our user pay very small amounts with very low fees 2) what is going to be compatible with what our user wants ... after some experimentation we came to the same conclusion that Block has ( ) -- basically that Solana is the "best of the worst" if you want to touch stablecoins. Tron's fee structure is an outright scam where they want you to "stake" Tron in order to send with reasonable fees.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 you agree with Jack 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣fuck whatever Jack & block have to say… glad I don’t use either of your platforms 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I shared your perspective for ~ 12 years. (Or at least since stablecoins were invented!) ... But when you are asked by a clearly very low-income user, who wants to be able to simultaneously survive & use Lightning.... I thought about it for a while and said "fuck it, this could be kind of interesting to try to implement, why not do it and show a big nasty warning before anyone tries to use it." Docs are here BTW:
Adding USDT on your platform is just the 1st for later asking users fro full KYC... Because this is what is doing fiat and every time you touch it. So where is that "Rizful... anonymous" ? YOU REALLY FUCK IT UP. Think again before is going worse.
BTW -- you can only "spend" small amounts in USDT on Rizful. You can't deposit, you can't "hold" USDT, etc. Rationale is something like: "if you're going to withdraw, and you're about to have to give money to Binance anyway to convert this Lightning withdrawal to to USDT, then sure, if it's a small amount, you can do it here, instead, after you look at our big fat warning about why USDT sucks." But overall, your comments/concerns definitely have merit. I think we're pretty clear.. and have been clear from the beginning: If you want the perfect self-custodial solution, you should run your own node -- either using our guide -- or running Alby Hub, which, when you run on your own hardware (or in their cloud, really..) , is a very good solution. (And you'll never have to see the word "USDT" anywhere!)
Ideally, I agree. But I'm also a rich resident of the first world who doesn't need to deal with day-to-day survival problems.
Bitcoin started as an experiment - something that those who do not create sometimes forget about. Keep experimenting. It may be that 1000 ideas end up not working, but the one that does, will change the world.
just adding this is giving entry to future financial threats to do what they say. just like they have done, visa, mastercard and paypal.
Is just a lame excuse. The response to those users should be simple: FIAT DELENDA EST Not charts with USD devaluing but how each time somebody is demanding fiat is literally creating more fiat.
Purity tests hurt Bitcoin. Unfortunately many puritans don't have the capacity to self-examine to consider the possibility that they are the ones in the wrong.
Just tell me: - is USDT fiat? - is fiat what we are fighting against for? - is it fiat the origin of all evil? - do you want to live in fiat slavery (every time you demand it you create more) or with bitcoin freedom? - adding USDT on a platform is not encouraging its use? aka use of fiat? image
- If USDT cannot be created at will but requires backing, it's not fiat in the way you mean (something from decree only). - we don't prefer fiat - fiat is not the origin of all evil. This is a misquote of the Bible verse. Man's rebellion against Gid is the origin of all evil. - I accept there is always going to be controls in place over me, even if it is only natural law. In all likelihood, people will always owe money to other people. But no, Ixwould prefer to not be a slave to anyone but Christ. - adding USDT to a platform is going to be useful to people who cannot access USD and need a widely accepted money they can easily use. Obviously I would prefer they use bitcoin, but this will bring them closer to bitcoin when they are ready.
we tested zaps on this note… we made six attempts to⚡zap this note, at darthcoin@stacker.news, over a period of 18 minutes. in each case, we found that your lightning address server did not respond correctly. (the failure point was when we did a get request to your specified callback url: https://stacker.news/api/lnurlp/darthcoin/pay ). your server did not produce an invoice, thus the zap failed. the error we got was "could not generate invoice to customer's attached wallet". if you wanted to fix this... you could try getting a free rizful lightning address -- ... if u get it set up, pls reply here so we can do this ⚡zap test again.
