Dude, the amount of Kamala ads on YouTube now is fucking vomit inducing. And they don’t let you skip them! So I have to hear that bitch’s nonsense for like 20 seconds. And it’s literally event before stuff that my 2 year son wants to watch.😡 God I hate election season. I really should’ve put a pi-hole in my network a long time ago. This might make me finally do it.

Newpipe. Ideally run your own private newpipe server.
What? Ads on YT? I haven’t seen ads on YT for almost a decade. I don’t use their app. Just use Brave Browser and get rid of ads and being tracked.
Didn’t know you where talking about YT on TV, my fault. I don’t use my TV with Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi is always turned off. In very rare cases when I want to watch a YT-Video on TV I use my laptop for it.
Was thinking about this the other day... It is so generally unpleasant to go about routine, day to day, life and activities at this point in the election cycle. Everyone is angry. Everyone is looking to defend and perpetuate their ideas and beliefs. Litterally like an abused animal backed into a corner, snarling and ready to attack. Compare that to two years from now when we are at the midpoint of the incumbent. Amazing what happens when the propaganda machine winds up.

Ya my kids watch it on TV. I don’t watch TV. Most of what I watch is usually on my phone.
This election is getting more suspicious by the day. I’m waiting for the double speak while they attempt to explain how she won, the results magically come in, in her favour. Will be time to batten down the hatches and make sure you’ve not only stacked sats but also stacked ammo. 😳
Big fucking whoop, go get an adblocker if you’re that concerned or bitch some more to the other bitcoin losers around you - it’s not like you got anything else to do.
Still some, but it’s only as long as youtube allows embedded videos to play without ads.

Use Brave browser and you will have NO ads by default.
Yeah totally. Or you just can’t accept life doesn’t go your way and that’s just what it is. Then you make a billion excuses and blame everything ever for it.
I report every political ad that YouTube forces me to watch as a “scam”. I really should just only watch stuff on Rumble or Odysee since they aren’t nearly as bad at this point. I think YouTube has just become habit. 🤦‍♂️

You seem like a pleasure to be around.
I've tried a few different things just to see what happens. Generally just breaks all functionality.
I hardline our Apple TVs and I despise “smart TVs,” but it’s all you can get these days really. I’ve considered buying computer monitors for TV screens more recently because everything has some awful, slow-as-piss, obnoxiously convoluted interface with less than the bare minimum hardware necessary to actually run it built into the TV now. It’s incredible to me how poorly built and designed they are, and yet alternatives are basically nowhere to be found. I still have some older flat screens with physical buttons on the back during the last era where you were able to still buy them without “Roku” installed.
You can use a pi to run AdGuard or Pihole, can block ads on network level, but is a pain in the ass to keep the blocked urls up to date.
That’s not a bad idea either. Depending on my home media setup after we finish the basement that might be a potential option.
Caveats: > Known limitations > Here are some examples of what cannot be blocked by a DNS-level blocker: > YouTube, Twitch ads; > Facebook, Twitter, Instagram sponsored posts. > Essentially, any advertising that shares a domain with content cannot be blocked by a DNS-level blocker.
Nah dude, I love the Apple TV to be honest. After going through like 20 of the various “internet TV devices” over decades (from when they were literally brand new), the latest Apple TV kills all of them. And I also use my computers for way too much, I’d have to devote one to the TV at all times, which goes right back to just having an Apple TV basically but with a mouse/keyboard interface, which is just awkward. But I probably will come up with a different option for YouTube unless I grab premium. Considering it’s iOS though, there might be a cool pear based app option to run with PearDrive. Might be an opportunity to explore how to get this in the Apple TV environment too. 🤔🤔
Yeah. We have it set for our kids (8,6,4,2) to only be able to watch approved shows. Really makes a difference as when they occasionally watch something on the tv at least we have some parameters.

Use uBlock Origin's advanced user mode to block the advertising JavaScript. It works and I haven't seen ads for years.

Use your tv as a desktop display then. Idk if it would work on apple TVs but i do it
Simplest option is to pay for Premium (it’s worth it for me as I use YouTube music) but goes against the grain..
I recommend to install the Duckduckgo browser. In there, you can watch any YouTube video without interruption and completely ad free. Highly recommended!
😂 I’ve responded to a bunch of people with this same shock, this is only on the Apple TV. Basically have to use the YT app as far as I know.
You must think you're very important to tell someone else what not to buy, what their objective is, and which web browser they should use. I hate ads as much as the next guy and certainly agree with preventing cross site tracking (Firefox Containers, for example), but YouTube isn't free to run. They offer me a way to avoid ads so I take it. I'm not going to be a thief while still using their product. People bitch and moan about ads yet aren't willing to pay either.
If youre watching on PC, use uBlock Origin. If on phone/TV, watch youtube via browser like Brave or Firefox+uBlock. If on TV, you can sideload SmartTube. Or just buy Premium if you watch it a lot, its worth it.
If you're using Apple or Android TV check out SwizzVPN app it blocks YouTube ads even for the YouTube app Other alternative is using a VPN and setting it Albania lol. YouTube doesn't have any ads in Albania.
Open source alternative front-ends for YT so you can just download the video, save it, then watch it instead of Adverts and tracking.
The SwizzVPN uses AdGuard to block video ads. Albania just doesn't have any advertisers and YouTube isn't allowed to show Albanian users non-relevant ads.
