trigger warning: shitcoins winning in payments one of my sites recently got banned by stripe (classic). Was able to get a new processor going quickly though. I've always had bitcoin/lightning payments, but only 1-2% of sales went through it. So as an experiment, I added ETH, SOL and fiatcoins. Crypto sales went up about 400% and now account for about 10% of my total sales additionally, only bitcoin users are sending in complaints to my support desk asking "why is my payment not going through?" (because it's still stuck in mempool but they don't understand that when they pay from coinbase/binance) Make of this as you will. image

Interesting. I assume most people would rather save than spend #bitcoin right now. Go to show how narratives might be shaping behavior.
Wait you mean that fiat didn't print a bunch of money to make our decentralized UX sexy? 🤔
shitcoins on a proof of stake network have dozens of servers with near instant settlement. it’s visa 2.0. that’s a lot different that a globally decentralized permission-less network with tens of thousands of nodes coordinating with zero trust.
Reality is harsh. We need to do better. And generally businesses like stripe need to stop using on-chain Bitcoin for payment rails.
agreed. i guess my point is im not surprised to hear shitcoins can do fast and consistent payments. visa does too. i think the hard part is specifically pow/trustless/permissionless. but i’m just a guy drinking coffee in an armchair. i dont really know shit about fuck 🙃
What about Monero?

I'd be curious if this correlates with overall discretionary spending by those groups. It's hard to imagine gambling crypto degens spending less than long term bitcoin savers. The ultimate NGU attack on the shitcoins would be to accept all of them, and instantly trade into btc

That's very interesting. What type of business is it? Do you accept other crypto via Square or if not how do you do it?
just depends when. if you'd exchanged all your sats 10 years ago for ETH, as of today you'd have 15x more money than if you didn't do that. so you'd have won.
Everyone wants easy fast cheap payments without security concerns or responsibilities. Bitcoin can never do this on its own. The closest is third party lightning setups without liquidity problems.
