It’s a bit sad that my videos in zambia, Ghana, peru and les developed countries tend to underperform on youtube and socials.
I have a coupe of amazing outliers from Kenya, but I think they truly are exceptional stories.
My videos about bitcoin in western countries perform better on the whole.
Sure, a profit driven, engagement is everything youtube channel would be like.. okay, then stop covering africa and latam, just do bitcoin in the west.
But fuck man.
I wanna tell the “global majority” bitcoin stories.
Advice? Takes? Stfu Joe?

Dunno, I'm not YouTube expert. But I know algorithms hate freedom since they are part of the system.
And personally lately I don't see any eagerness nor motivation nor interest in Bitcoin nor freedom from people. They tend to enjoy complaining about the economy, agree that inflation sucks, some even love it since it drives prices of their mortgaged apartments higher...
I feel like Bitcoin is only for the chosen few. And it'll stay like that.
But please keep doing what you are doing, I love your content bro!
Hope to seeing you in Prague this June! Or any other time you are ever around!
My take in the age of hyperdopamine scrolling and content that catches your eye in a flash, is that anything related to “those parts” of the world or poverty are passed for the more superficial miami crypto bro type content etc. which is total fiat mentality. Your videos are proof that Bitcoin will win, but are nuanced and deeper in thought which means they will get skipped over by the mass.
Am from Kenya 🇰🇪 lemme watch and see ⚡ orange pilling at its best
Keep doing them?
I mean fuck it, advertisers and algorithms like you covering honky stuff but travelling to Africa and all sorts of interesting places sounds pretty cool if you ask me.
You gonna swap that for a few quid? Your choice... Is money the only metric you value your time in?
This one isade in Kenya you can have a look at it .. tagging legend @nobody
I love this type of content!
Don't let the algorithm tell you what to do 😊
I actively lolled at honky stuff 🤣
Ty sir
And no, I feel like it’s very western or American to measure everything in $ of £ and I intentionally try to not do that.
Culture > a few quid
Interesting. Ty.
Thank you for the thoughtful comment. I’ll keep on!
What's your timeframe for labeling a video "underperformer"?
Didn’t had the chance to look at it, but I will today. Inspiring to see how bitcoin actually help in many realities. 🤟
My first take is you're genuinely trying to help the places that need it, not exploiting them, but it's functionally impossible to separate yourself from exploiters, especially when there's ad revenue.
The more you try to focus on "less fortunate" places, the more suspicion your channel risks associating with advertisers for "exploiting them for content."
Again, not fixed by you being sincere, even if you are.
Somehow mitigating this might be the key.
Regardless of the stats, keep making what you see as important. It rounds your credibility and you’re building a sturdy foundation of integrity for the future. Much better than being yet another content creator that just blows around in the winds of hype and trend.
Love your stories…
Make clips or trailers or shorts or whatever they're called referencing the longer videos. Fight the algo.
I think that's "play the algo's game" not "fight the algo"
Valid strategy though from what I hear
Just watched 2 of your videos, and subscribed. Fantastic content! I am so happy and excited for those villages and merchants! I don't have words to express the difference between those growing communities and what we have here in the West.
Yes you can fix this. I have some advice.
Western audiences will never care about Ghana, Zambia etc… but what they do care about are human stories.
Let me show you xyz poor country reads as travel/charity content to the western brain. A single compelling human story though is a real hook people will tune in for. “He escaped a warlord using bitcoin”
Or hyper compelling cultural content like “I negotiated her bride price using bitcoin” this is not your style I know but other streamers do stuff like this and get high engagement.
The point is to find the cultural moments where you are a real fish out of water and the embarrassment/culture shock etc… is highly compelling for the audience.
Westerners also need compare and contrast, here’s a mud hut vs. here’s a mud hut and here’s how we live in the west.
You can build a real moat around this type of content and it should have a long tail in theory where you’ll still be getting clicks 5 years from now, but you have to follow the human stories. Find a great story about someone in Zaire and then go to Zaire. Don’t decide you want to go there first and then film.
i agree. but thats because your peers are not yet from africa.
however, your stories were very inspiring, esp. during the bear market. i loved them.
bitcoin is global! bitcoin is mostly needed in non western countries.
but once we decline into tyranny, the need for freedom will drive bitcoin adoption in the western countries.
keep up your great work
I find the non western videos of yours the most inspiring and informative deliveered in your fun and chaeming style. It shows the real power of Bitcoin and the good it can do to change peoples lives. Keep doing what you love 👍
Thank you for the boost my friend
Honestly you’re right the “global majority” is kinda leading the way. Thanks for the comment
Yes I try this as trailers but they don’t perform as well. Maybe I try publishing the shorts before the long form video comes out as genuine trailers
Insightful. Thanks
I wished @Peter McCormack would be able to continue with short films. I wish I had the capability. For those of you that continue to carry the torch, we appreciate you.
Keep showing and telling the why, the where, and the how. That’s the message people need to hear.
It's because Africa is dangerous and even if the video is good it means we won't be able to travel there. Look at your thumbnail, the road is just a dirt road. Africa is so undeveloped that we can't even travel there safely. So most people skip African videos. I know I don't care much about Africa so I'll skip it compared to western videos.
But you should make the videos anyways because every little thing helps your channel get popular.
Watching it now!
Everything is dangerous if you are a pussy.

stay away from surfing, it's dangerous and provides no reward, waste of time and it's not cool
Glad you're keeping on 🙌
It could easily blow up later, and even those videos have a smaller reach initially, the viewers of that type of content and going to be of higher quality than slopsumers
May God grant you even more success
Gradually then suddenly, you're laying the groundwork for what comes years later, but no one can see the castle while the foundation is being constructed.
Verified blink addresses worked

💯
however, 'funny twist'.
they are not even aware of it yet. in my opinion, for 'them' the upside is even more beneficial. they hold most of the stuff everybody needs.
and hard money, i.e. bitcoin, would preserve their efforts best.
i think that there is some momentum. from fiat to stable coins, which, in the end, are just digital fiat money. And now bitcoin settlements are happening.
very interesting times.
Just watched videos of people driving to isolated regions in Northern Quebec (Radison and the James Bay Route). That's kinda niche... And had 51k views... Amongst the very large adventurer community. You're vids would target two inches: bitcoiners and third world countries. Without a major outlet/channel promoting the story it's just not going to get the views. That's just math.
BUT does it mean the stories shouldn't be told? Nah. Your journey is for you. The stories you tell? Some will hit and fund the next adventure (like the other traveller vids) and some will miss. Never count the individuals but the zoom out to the whole.
Popularity or truth. That is your question?
@Kingbee and I love your videos. Stand by your resolve. Gradually, then suddenly.
I think "stfu", but in a good way. West is for gaining cosmo points, marketing, gaining traction, gaining more eyes and subscribers. South is for doing what is important and that's where you spent your cosmo points...
From my view young people no longer worry about economy, global issues, privacy or tech ... Young people worry that there is no place for them in this world. They won't get a job. They won't do good, because it's not even clear what good is anymore.
So with that... videos speaking to these folks could gain some interest. Check out PewDiePie and his shift over the last year.
Keep at it. Don't change anything.
But maybe I'm biased. I actually tend to watch more of your non-Western content!
Thanks for coming to Zambia
Without any concrete data, I would say that at least in Africa, TikTok is the main video content platform. YouTube is not consumed as much.
Keep going on this path Joe
telling Bitcoin stories from developing countries is incredibly valuable. It might not always get the most attention now, but over time it compounds and the impact becomes massive. What you’re building really matters 👊🧡🫵🏽
Bro… keep on keeping on. Might be worth doing a promo of shorts for MaMa Afrik and LatAm separately pushing them as a curated series. Might also wanna try tapping up the high signal black and latino YouTubers to jointly intro your work
Common people just don't see the bigger picture. "Digital money in a mud hutt - what so great about that? " the few people that showed me interest in bitcoin only showed interest in it when it was gaining in $ value. Just to seconds later chasing other big winners like "insert any other shitcoin"
I find it extremely hard to get the message across about the true wonder of bitcoin it's always about how much $ it's worth at the moment. I really don't care about how much $ it's worth and I can't seem to get that thought across. I love your videos, ceep em coming. ❤️
People dont care about the 99% being lifted up. They want to see stories of the 1% becoming the .001%
Meanwhile bitcoin is for the destitute
Yes, use the global south to make money…
Nothing has changed
🧡🐇
Feels like your ego is hurt. I would suggest that you stop judging yourself by likes/views on YouTube, etc. Instead, prepare videos and live your life for the love of it -- unconditionally.
When your work reflects your true self, authentically, you will gain satisfaction and fulfillment -- no matter what. Then, you will have happiness. You will be alive. Not a slave to others, or whether they "like or subscribe" or not.
Not sure that’s what’s being said. Bitcoin provides a very different context
yea tell him to come and interview Turiz. lol.
Sounds like you are financially free! Nice
Excellent point!!!
At Proof of Work Magazine we love learning about Bitcoin around the globe! Let's all support @Joe Nakamoto by reposting his videos from regions that underperform on socials.
Let's go!
