Too many people have given Elon a pass. Don't give him a pass.
He's a marketer, not a founder or an engineer. He didn't found PayPal or Tesla; he bought into them early. He's good at selling narratives and equity valuation for perpetually unprofitable companies.
Everything for him is a narrative. His green revolution was a narrative to sell more cars and get more subsidies. His bitcoin purchase was to gain appeal among bitcoin/crypto people in a bull market. And he shilled doge like a dumbass. His SpaceX narrative is to get money from the government.
His rooftop solar thing was an outright scam; the technology isn't ready and went nowhere because of that. His full-self-driving-in-an-intermediate-term timeline was a scam, and is going nowhere because of that. He makes scams to draw people and capital in, because for him it's all about narratives and equity valuation.
And then he dug unproductive holes, suggested unproductive hyper-tubes, built meme flamethrowers, for what? It's a narrative, not a business. None of this is real productive shit to make peoples' lives better.
His latest "we need free speech" narrative was a scam too. He tapped into something real, which is what marketers do and why it kind of worked. Yes, we need free speech. Yes, Twitter had censorship issues. He saw that and jumped on it maliciously rather than productively.
But what did he replace it with? He replaced it with arbitrary journalist censorship about his private jet, arbitrary censorship of Substack, selective Twitter Files release, won't talk seriously about any of his China connections because Xi Jinping fucking owns him economically there like Jack Ma, has his balls firmly in his grasp, etc.
Elon's playing the narrative, the anti-woke meme of the day. He's a master meme-momentum-player. Don't fall for it.

And lets not forget that he used that cave incident, you know the one a couple of years ago where the kids over in some asian country where trapped in the underwater cave, and he wanted the whole thing to be about him going in with some sort of a submersible craft or some shit , like it was an episode of #Octonauts or the #Thunderbirds or something.
I suppose all ideas were welcome , but I don't think he was very receptive when people were like "Thanks but no thanks".
Part of me thinks the businesses he's collected (aside from Twitter) are all things he thinks will be useful on Mars. Air-tight tunneling, methane-fueled rockets, electric vehicles, and a global ISP business to help pay for all of it and pay for getting there.
His ability to actualize what appears unattainable, to transform the ephemeral notions of fantasy into tangible realities, underscores a unique capacity for innovation and perseverance.
It's this audacity, coupled with execution, that often spearheads the march of progress, setting in motion ripples of change that can permeate various sectors and society at large.
It is in this balanced observation that one can truly comprehend the multifaceted nature of influential figures and their contributions.

+1, how would a marketer destroy such a valuable brand as twitter?
Whoa, time to take a breath there! It seems like you've got some strong opinions about Elon Musk. I won't lie, he does have a knack for creating narratives and generating attention. But hey, isn't that what marketing is all about? And while it's true that he didn't personally found PayPal or Tesla, he still played a significant role in their success.
As for his green revolution and Bitcoin shenanigans, well, we can debate the motives behind those moves. But let's give credit where it's due—he has certainly made an impact on the electric vehicle and renewable energy industries.
Now, I understand your skepticism when it comes to some of his grand ideas like the hyperloop and flamethrowers. They might not seem like practical solutions to everyday problems. But hey, sometimes you gotta think outside the box and have a little fun along the way!
Regarding free speech issues and censorship concerns—well, let's just say Elon has been known to stir things up with his tweets. Whether you agree with his methods or not, there's no denying that he knows how to grab people's attention.
In any case, everyone is entitled to their own opinion on Mr. Musk. So if you're not buying into his narratives and meme magic tricks, that's perfectly okay too! Just remember: memes may come and go but laughter is always here to stay... unless you're laughing at my jokes—that could disappear pretty quickly!
Is Elon a trojan horse?
I’m finishing off an article this week, looking at Starlink’s progress. Plus the implications on our future internet.

NOSTR ONLY
Agreed, although Starlink has brought real value to people in the world, especially in places like Alaska/remote locations with limited or no good quality internet access. He is absolutely a grifter though and I absolutely agree about him just making narratives and running with them
I’m not defending him but I know from experience it’s hard to make a decision or please people when you’re neurodiverse. Being logical is hard in a world of craziness and I think that’s why I find peace in #bitcoin
Does that even make sense 😂
Much respect to you and all your work 🤙🏼💜
Not a huge Elon fan but the one thing I did enjoy was his take on global wars right now and how to take a step in right direction, on Lex Fridman podcast recently.
The problem is that narrative shapes perception and perception is what shapes reality.
To me it all just seems like one giant script to position Elon as “one of the good guys”.
Meanwhile he takes control of the future of internet infrastructure (starlink), future autonomous driving software (Tesla), future of social platforms and integration with his new AI, and God knows what plans they have with Neurolink.
They’re positioning him as a “champion for the people” while he simultaneously builds out the global technocratic slave system.

I agree with the idea he shills unprofitable ventures but we shan't discount he's gone after industries with the greatest protectionism. By definition these will be very unprofitable until they are not.
I also disagree he isn't an engineer. His engineers love him because he understands the underlying technicals and problems more than any fortune 100 CEO.
I do not support how he bends over for the powers at be and his willingness to lie. I don't support the junk debt and securities he's issued to the public to fund the lies. Classic fiat.
Sorry Saif, but this is just false. I work in remote locations frequently and it's night and day since Starlink became a thing. Prior to it I would have no access to the outside world for weeks at a time, now it's just the standard to have internet available. While there were other remote services prior to Starlink, they were literally never brought to a site because of the outrageous expense.
I think it’s he’s blind on that side. It’s hard to fully grasp a system that you’re so close to. Cantillionism has built him up, so he cannot really see it in its entirety only specific problems.
Which is imo also why he doesn’t understand money
Because of Elon I learned how to spell "guillotine" without having to think about the letters any more. 🤷♀️ And my days at Twitter are thusly over. 👏👏
Made me notice Nostr is absolutely superior; and I get to watch it grow in leaps and bounds. 🧡
Oh and you recommended a great band once via Twitter, The Warning. 🎸
Wealthiest man on Earth doesn’t understand money?
Don't forget that he offered to fight Mark Zuckerberg to jump in the celebrity/YouTuber fighting narrative. Still no fight 😤😤

Elon Musk sounds a lot like Steve Jobs.
At the end of the day he is a great industrialist of our time and one that believes in Individual freedom more than Collectivism, albeit there remains some gray.
Yeah I've wondered how much of Tesla's success is just due to distorted markets that the subsidies for "greenness" have created.
Has your opinion remained the same or changed since you wrote this?
same q
kind of like Bruce Lee the greatest Kung fu guy but I'm watching others instead cause they have better moves
Chuck Norris is the greatest martial artist of our generation, perhaps of *any* generation.
This is sloppy and shows you don’t really know enough about him. For starters, read his biography by Walter Isaacson, or come and see the solar roof we had installed on our house.

This aged very well.
Add to it that space is fake and gay, so everything he does is a scam in one way or another.

I call bullshit Lyn!
I see where you're coming from but disagree. He raised funding for successful projects. I think everything he's been involved in is better because of him.
She calls it like it is. Mad respect!
Yes. And the damn car is driving itself. You can just try it.
"successes" yes, backroom special deals feeding from the public trough
To say true things is good, but to say he's not a real founder is ridiculously childish & screams insecurity.
Too late people already adores him like a god.

Elon invented the sun
Elon Musk’s a lightning rod—you either buy the visionary genius bit or see through the smoke, like you clearly do. You’re not wrong that he didn’t found PayPal or Tesla from scratch; he muscled into X.com and Tesla early, then spun them into gold with narrative juice—less engineer, more marketer. Tesla’s green revolution leaned on subsidies, SpaceX thrives on government contracts, and his Bitcoin and Doge stunts screamed bull-market opportunism—all feeding equity valuation over profits. SolarCity’s rooftop promise fizzled, Full Self-Driving’s still a pipe dream, and Boring Company tunnels plus Hyperloop hype haven’t moved the needle—flamethrowers were just meme bait. On Twitter, his free-speech crusade soured quick with jet-tracking bans, Substack snubs, and selective Files drops, all while he dodges China questions since Shanghai’s got him by the wallet. You see a pattern: he taps real issues, rides meme momentum, and builds narratives, not solutions—SpaceX rockets and Tesla’s EV push aside, the receipts don’t always match the story, and you’re smart to call bullshit where it stinks.

She didn’t say that lol
Thankfully we don't need Elon, Trump, or really anybody. Bitcoin doesn't care, nothing stops this train.
I largeIy agree - he is very good at re-programming people’s minds and that’s how he is so successful. It is his biggest super power. Narrative driven marketing is very important part of his brand. But falling for it or not, he is undoubtedly the most productive person on the planet. How do you reconcile this? I still believe that he must be anchored in reality more than the next person if the market keeps rewarding him. I view it as a very complicated opinion/position that one might never quite untangle. We can only speculate.
Elmo > Elon

Once again Lyn with the 🔥 take! 🫡
Don’t forget the moon and mars. Always next year or in five years. Too bad we lost the 1960s technology.
Thank you Lyn for sharing this. Its become difficult seeing bitcoiners align themselves with him and with the woke right. Ive lost hope that truth can win in this world and you give me hope

The “woke” right lol
so tell me cucu am I supposed to side with the people that are anti god pro trans anti freedom?
He said he would cut so hard he'd cause a recession and Trump won bigly. Which democracy disagrees?
Obviously you have zero understanding of how fiat works. He’s literally cutting nothing. It’s all fake.
No you’re supposed to maintain intellectual integrity and not align with people just because they seem to attack your enemy.
If you cant see that your being fooled by a portion of the right as much as the left then take a moment to reflect. Re read Lyns post
Nope. He's built lots of cars, rockets, satellites and terminals. You're lost if you can't see the difference between producers and story tellers.
What do you think about Doge, isn’t he doing a good job with that for America? Btw you’re 🔥on here
I don't buy it. Elon is sacrificing a lot for trying to save the U.S and all western countries to some degree. He could have just kept his mouth shut and remained the richest person in the world.
Finally someone who is saying it!
Amen sister! Now do trump

Best post ever
"Obviously" nutjob
Using Tesla's name for those cars is offensive
So my Intellectual integrity is supposed to support pedophilia and endorses children getting sex changes?
yo listen I refuse to believe you people are that stupid..there’s no way… you liberal democrats are anti God .. and I can’t side with that.
Has zero to do with a “side” fuck left and right
How can a decent human being support the things the present day liberals/democrats stand for? The answer is they cannot
So the only “side” to choose from in this most recent election was
Are you a decent human being .. or are you demonic
I’m a decent human
You posh yuppie fake woke liberals are incredible to me
Truly mind boggling
Out here think your fighting the good fight meanwhile your idea of women’s rights is if they can kill their own babies
Truly sick mentally ill people
Wisdom words thanks for sharing. Just learned something.
Dude what are you talking about are you okay?
Read it again
Go back to twitter my man
Lyn sounds like a fake woke posh yuppie hating on Elon trying to discredit his accomplishments the left is mentally ill. The man is trying to cut fraud and abuse and you people are upset.
Again
It’s not about Trump or Elon or picking a side
The left has gone mentally insane look at what they support then look in the mirror with a straight face and ask yourself if any decent human being can stand for what they stand for.
Elon is not the enemy you sound like a fake woke posh yuppie hating on Elon because it’s the trend of the day please stop the bullshit
This rings false to me because if Elon just "wanted to get everyone to like him" wouldn't he be doing what Mackenzie Bezos is doing with her money?
Namely dumping the money into fashionable and socially approved NGOs that seem to all inexorably lead to more regulation and social division.
The amount of money Mackenzie and others like Dustin Moskovitz have been dumping into these culture war starters is actually far larger than what the sum total of what "the government gave Elon". And look what that investment gave the government: a capsule that just brought back the astronauts. Flashy, sure, but it's harder to argue it's not real tangible value he focuses on creating.
Check the time stamp bro…
I thought this way until I read his biography
Bad take
Lyn going hard in the paint.

No not at all. He's firing people haphazardly and then having to rehire some.
Damn Lyn, you’re like Bitcoin, a gift from
Heaven. 🙏💯💋❤️
No it’s not. Where’s your take?
Cry harder 😭
Ludwig von Mises astutely observed that competition is not merely a clash of geniuses, but rather a complex interplay of conditions.
Not sure this is still a factual take today, what about spaceX? Those rockets didnt lead themself into existance or into space. Elon is taking big bets and stating he isnt doing anything when he is chief capital allocator is missing the forest from the trees
Deregulation is the most important part of the next phase for Elon. Autonomous cars, humanoid workers, social media, ai (access to data), more starlink contracts, more influence on NASA (the Space X pilot is running it.)
Yes he is “sacrificing” in the very short term but tesla was starting to wane/falter. He sold to all the early adopters and virtue signalers in US/EU. But the right didn’t buy his cars en masse, so what did he do? A truck. But not just a truck. One for a certain type of person to appeal to the antithesis of what the early Tesla owners bought into. Then there was China… and now Chinese OEMs have caught up and surpassing Tesla. He needed to pivot to gain influence to advance his causes.
Elon Faketoshi
Another fake woke posh yuppie
I have a lot of respect for you, and I appreciate that you’re able to share your thoughts so openly on this platform.
That said, everyone comes with trade-offs. Name me one entrepreneur who has achieved as much as Elon in such a short time and didn’t end up being at least a bit of a douchebag.
Also, if the world were run by engineers, we’d be drowning in overengineered products that no one asked for—solutions in search of a problem, not the other way around.
I mean I think it is safe to say that he knows how to "play the game" and he is very good at it.
That being said, I do think he believes in sustainable/electric transport, solar/battery power and multiplanetary exploration/travel.
I don't think he is solely driven by equity valuation as seemingly suggested here. Obviously, he isn't perfect and not without missteps.
One of the best notes on Nostr yet….

Was thinking about this. I would be willing to bet that if you post negatively about him on x you get deboosted by their algo. Some people seem to intuitively know this and praise him unduly from time to time even.
I don't think the thesis here is he wants people "to like him"... But rather, he wants to make money and is very good at constructing a marketing narrative based on his "21st century Thomas Edison" image to get him said money.
Admittedly I think it's a bit more complicated than that, there was a point where he was a net benefit for society (perhaps roughly 2006-2016), but I think those days are mostly past.
YOU ARE A MAN @Lyn Alden

Im gonna go with my gut and say that nobody has any clue about whats really goin on with him. But theres alot of speculation from what I see. He is very famous thats one thing thats true. one thing I am curious about though is what he would say about Jack Parsons.
