Scary stuff.
I use muun wallet, but sad to see this if its true.
Jeez, major casualty
Well damn. This was my backup wallet in case my node messed up.
USA is quickly turning into a failed rogue state, how long until official banana republic status?
It’s already official
Wow.. already conceding!
Being removed from the Play Store shouldn't necessitate emptying the existing Android wallets, bc people can still sideload apps via F-Droid, obtanium, or direct apk download. This means that Phoenix users may be in legally grey territory using LSP's. Which is concerning.
It's ALREADY a banana republic lol
Get your app updates from obtainium. Don't rely on centralised stores.
Free and open source on grapheneos.
and its main export is US Treasuries
👀
APK, VPN and Tor
We don't have to be the best, we just have to be right.
Ughhhhhh!!!!
No! That's my favorite
Wtf..
Imagine still using an app store.
Use non-custodial wallets like Mutiny Wallet or Blixt Wallet
Can you really blame them?
Its been a rough week ☹️. This was easily the best lightning mobile wallet to onboard new people to.
@OpenSecret @ZEUS your time to shine is fastly approaching. Keep building.
Americans losing what is probably the best semi custodial LN wallet.
Just emptied my wallet. Sad day for America.
Its fully non custodial
Primal wallet is powered by @strike. They are KYC-compliant, so it shouldn’t affect it.
really sucks 😬
Phoenix wallet is obeying in advance, teaching power what it can do.
True, maybe they were sent a message about compliance and they said "We don't need this. Bye!"
I just don't want to keep going backwards. We will build and grow and continue making things better for the people, unselfishly
Something is going down.
Maybe so
never a dull day in bitcoin land 🥴
i need to recommend a new lightning app now (it is
@OpenSecret by the way)

Isn't the ability to force close channels an essential part of making LN non-trusted.
Well there goes that.
Major oefing, why not just wait for apple to ban yo ass
has anyone talked to Phoenix? why did they do this?
does this affect Canada
Because of the FBI warning yesterday
they want to stay out of jail, apparently.
This guy
@jack mallers
He knows their motives, their trade offs, and why they did it.
Just ask him. He’s got all the answers for everyone.
?

I have to imagine all LSPs will be getting pressured like this. Any routing node operator seems targetable too. (Not FUDing but if non-custodying is no longer a defense, lots of stuff gets redefined)
Doesn't this imply we can still download from github?
This should be an easy legal win, however. If Chevron gets struck down this is blatant executive legislation.
Can't really blame them for not wanting to be extradited and thrown into an American gulag.

Refusing business with USA is a strong feedback. I wish so many companies did it that the citizens would revolt to dismantle the communism they let in.
Good thing I never used an app store. #Obtainium
Phoenix app spontaneously disappeared from my android phone (in Europe) hours before I read this news. Can app store pull apps from your phone? Re-installed. Luckily I had the seed or I would have been rugged?
Not sad, expected. These things will continue. The state does not want you to have any measure of freedom. They will continue pushing to destroy it. This is precisely the reason that things like Nostr, bitcoin, LN and any other number of decentralized tech exists. More people need to get de-Googled phones. Download apps from providers. Own their digital experience, not allow corporations to curate them. Awesome software will need to be created/hosted in a decentralized fashion. There is a way to push back and win. We have the tools, they will be deployed, the people will rise above the state.
Hmmm, could be a game of semantics but I feel as if we here in the USA are already in banana republic status.
