Does anyone actually accept phone calls anymore? Not over signal or telegram, but on the actual voice line?

Haven't in many, many years.
Yes I do
i’m afraid to answer.
Just my mom calling me so yup. 👍🏾
If they call twice, maybe.
Text only. Unless it’s the doctor’s office.
Very very rarely. Like for appointments or family. Get about 5 scam calls a day regularly
Yes, from <10 people. That number will never increase.
Same policy here. Slightly fewer scam calls. Occasionally the caller ID will say something like “ILLEGAL SCAM” 🤣
Not since 10 years.
Cant trust it
Sometimes is fast to just say it
If I don’t know you I don’t answer
5 was true at a point in time, but closer to 2-3 these days tbh. Would love to understand the root of the issue and why it seemingly can't be stopped. The service of having a phone is measurably worse than it was years ago! Wild. Good old spam wars...
Normally I don't unless I have no choice.
Not really, my phone is usually muted to avoid interruptions. It's 2025. Calling someone feels like going to their door and knocking, like “I want to speak with you right now.” We are not animals. 😀
For doctors & family, yeah. Just today, in fact.
If they're older than 65. I have a tenant that has a flip phone, so any 21st century technology goes out the window
Only spammers and scammers call.
the only reason I bought a cell phone was only because the banks necessarily want you to have a phone number
Going on 30 years no calls
From known callers only. If they leave a message and identify themselves, I'll likely return the call.
This is all do to getting so many scam calls.
All incoming voice calls have been barred on my phone (by me) for years now. No voicemail either. Too many scam, spam or nuisance calls. My friends and family know how to reach me via chat apps.
Data only sim card ftw
Nope
Yeah, still got a land line.. For a LONG time.. It gets used by people in other countries, family members, calling my other half....
Yes, and on the house phone.
Telegram, Signal, and WhatsApp only for voice. I do have a flip phone for TFA codes though. And because my bank requires one.
#voiceverify is still valid 4meE nostr:npub10vlhsqm4qar0g42p8g3plqyktmktd8hnprew45w638xzezgja95qapsp42 [noreply site]
No. It doesn’t even ring if it’s not on my contacts.
only if they are from india
Is that a setting?
Text before calling 👍
Fuck no.
Settings are such that I can still get calls from people in my contacts. Everyone else is straight to VM which I might check once every couple weeks
Yes me 😊
yes, delivery services, city services. almost all personal contacts either signal or telegram calls. I'm not in US
Yep, from people I know. For unknowns mixture tbh spends on how busy I am.

If so is that more of a convince of using apps instead or is there freedom value aspect of such usage?
I’ve occasionally thought that maybe placing a call should require a deposit, which may or may not be returned at the discretion of the recipient. Of course the statist approach would be to drone the crap out of the call centers. Actually surprised that has never come up as a campaign promise.
It a terrible idea. Reminds me of collect calls back in the day from pay phones. The trick was to record something like "mom pick us up" as your name, and then let the robo-operator ask recipient if they'd accept call from "..."
Good times
Not* a terrible idea
Now I’m having collect call flashbacks 🤣🤣🤣
Yes, iPhone setting.
I still have a landline for my business.
Of course, only human not every single individual is in love with a smartphone 😄
No.
Solo de los contactos guardados. Números desconocidos muy altamente probable que sean spam.

99% are scammers, 1% of it is my girlfriend checking on me.
Data-only fttp landline here and never use mobile for calling other than via signal.
My brother (estate agent and on the phone a lot) thought it was weird when I introduced him to the habit of genZ to announce a call with a text first.
Only numbers I recognize 😅
Phone calls and voice notes are still my favourite
I do but I question myself after almost every time
No
my preference. quick and easy. not always convenient though.
Many seem to, though I'm not sure why.
I keep my voicemail box full at all times too, because I can't be asked to go clear out the unsolicited crap periodically. If it's a business that doesn't text, they'll send mail. If it's a person, they'll text.
Text messages have become the equivalent of port knocking to actually open up the phone line in a somewhat meaty, analog way.
