nostr has its issues. but for those who figure it out, it’s the most powerful network that exists today. challenge is helping more people figure it out. likely most of that won’t come from social use cases, but rather the microapps that #[0] originally envisioned and folks like #[1] are focused on building. the power of this thing is the ecosystem part. it’s permission-less, meaning anyone can build whatever they want, and it has a permission-less global payment system readily available through bitcoin. but neither will sell people on joining it. if the apps built on top of nostr do valuable things, like https://highlighter.com does, then every nostr app and use case benefits, including the social clients. this is going to be a long road, but one that fundamentally changes the way people experience the internet. if it doesn’t succeed itself, it will certainly inspire the thing that does.

The killer app is just the same identity across everything. Imagine using letterboxd, twitter, and goodreads, but you only need one account
Is it possible to also integrate other blockchains? Just joined yesterday and have to say nostr looks like what other blockchain communities are missing, too. Where do you start if you're interested in development?

relationships are the key to success in all dev - even if it's difficult.

just like a woman, she (nostr etc) absolutely will need some fancy feathers. she absolutely has no patience for being told what to do - hence permission-less.
Grasping and understanding the little documentation there was for Nostr development felt like the early days of the Internet but once you get it, you get it. Afterward, this made it really easy to spin up my trivia for sats apps I built #[4] #[5]

The revolution will not be televised, the revolution is here on nostr.
So what about bluesky? Is atprotocol a dead end if nostr is the most powerful network that exists today? And what about twitter/Musk? Where do you stand on all these exactly? I know nobody here criticises you because they want your money. But I'm curious, do you ever want to be accountable to yourself at least?

Are these micro apps similar to the mini-programs, WeChat has in its ecosystem? But then of course completely decentralized and permission less ? Or do I understand wrong?
the social graph transcends the social network though, which is absolute magic I can't fathom what's downstream from this and that's kinda the fun in building all this stuff
Hi - I am not a programmer but hope that I understood more or less how it works and would like to know - is it - and if so how - possible to run an own - hows it called instance or server with own domain and if so - how can one manage this and how much does it cost (the script is free but what does it need to run - ) ?? Thanks a lot in advance Btw -- friends with smartphones get error messages when signing up - I used a laptop and had no problems
Developers like you get to have the fun of building it. End users like me just give feedback. But even from my point of view I can see potential beyond legacy social media.
All of it. What I’m saying I’d that the social graph you construct also improves the non-social media use cases 😊
Remember geocities.com? HTML broadened the developer base…this massively helped the internet to grow. I don’t know if there can be an equivalent for nostr apps, but having everyone and their brother able to build something fast is a massive advantage.

That’s an interesting perspective Pablo. If I’m getting this right, the entire finance system on a larger scale can be a different model than those in the market for fiat or smart contracts
Ya Super Testnet and Captain Stacks have been doing it every month in Austin at PlebLab the attendence is growing

Now that I've used it a few weeks I can say thank you..👍
Ok so here is the thing. If you prefix it with "nostr:" it would work. Without the "nostr:" it is hard to tell if this is supposed to be linkified or if it is a part of some url. In this case it's not hard to tell, but in other cases it is. I think we probably went too far when we fixed our breakage of things like <EventCard id=\"note194n247lecqgcskk5rmmfgrapt4jx7ppq64xec0eca3s4ta3hwkrsex7pxa\" /> and https://habla.news/a/naddr1qq2hsjmsgc64sjzk89vyka2pwgu8y6pnt98rjq3qf4zygwf8c0330t3n32c8het2u7vya2fzyj0wf9s0e7mt7lkjgk9sxpqqqp65w6kduhc
Nostr feels like it will replace the internet as we know it. If that is the case nostr feels like ~1995ish to me. Lots to build. Incredibly bullish on nostr.
This is what made Facebook Login so popular. Now, with the emergence of the #DigitalIdentity State, folks are starting to understand what's at stake.
