such a good sign of the times if polling was done soundly
As a "Bitcoin Policy Institute", this is kind of the exact outcome you would hope for such a study. I'd like to know more how it was conducted. Did they ask 100 bitcoiners on bluesky, 100 on nostr and 100 at a libertarian convention or something? image
Small print says this is from polling in the United States (only) Getting really tired of US Americans representing themselves as the whole world (as the title at the top of the chart suggests, through omission) More specifically, tired of US American bitcoiners pushing their insular politics onto Bitcoin

It's the way it should be. Politics is like the polar opposite of what Bitcoin strives to achieve.
I somehow read that as "bitcoiners are those that have a coinbase UTXO", probably because you wrote coinbase instead of Coinbase. ;)

Phew, glad they finally found me! Been around since the GPU mining days. Didn't realize I was such a rare bird. Guess that makes me one of the fabled 35 liberals they managed to track down. Hahaha!
Conservative side are definitely way more loud on social. Is this self identifying? Or did the survey place them on the spectrum according to views on issues.
How can they "know" that ? Most of bitcoiners are anonymous, how can they know their political affiliation, by a phone survey ?
Testing for this note… we made six attempts to⚡zap this note, using your lightning address starting with "ericpp", over a period of about 7 hours. All six attempts were successful. Please check on your end to be sure you received. Average zap time was 7324ms (7.3 seconds). We consider this zap time slow... generally, zaps should complete in under two seconds. (Other Nostr users might think your zaps are broken, might not zap you again.) If you wanted to speed up your zap confirmations, you could try receiving zaps with a well-connected, cloud-based Lightning node.
Interesting how 95% of the political spectrum is considered neutral. We literally got anarchists, fascists, communists, every different group that calls themselves socialist or libertarian etc. All considered neutral, while conservatism and liberalism which are just different variants of capitalism are somehow considered the two sides.
Ohhh that makes sense now. Why they think that liberals and conservatives are the opposite ends of the political spectrum when they are essentially the same thing
They are considered "neutral" along with the monarchists communists fascists etc. All considered neutral for some reason
Outside of social media every single person I know that uses Bitcoin are full blown leftists. Anarchists mostly, plenty of libertarians as well. But yeah the only right wingers interested in Bitcoin seem to be Americans.
Neutral is a bit generic. Because that would represent having a foot in both camps. I 100% don't believe in absolutes, so 'individual' is better.
