Presenting Nostru - a Chrome extension that maps your Nostr key to a Bitcoin Silent Payment address. Your npub becomes your sp1 address. Your nsec scans for incoming payments - locally, via a native host. The scan key never touches a remote server.
In NSP, scan_priv is root-equivalent to nsec. That's what @`Tim Bouma`'s brief makes explicit, and it's the constraint the whole architecture is built around.
Nostru started as an experiment, not a product. The idea was simple: Nostr keys are secp256k1 - the same curve Bitcoin uses. Silent Payments run on the same curve. The derivation writes itself.
What came out is a working proof of concept. Someone receives a payment to their npub. Their nsec scans for it locally. They sweep it. That loop closes.
I'm not claiming it's finished or that I have all the answers. The point is that the direction is valid. @`Tim Bouma` raised a real problem and got pushback instead of engagement. I'd rather build something that shows the problem is solvable than join the chorus that calls it unsolvable and moves on.
The ecosystem will take it from here - or it won't. Either way, the concept has been tested.

MIRCEA POPESCU - the most wow bitcoinist Romania ever gave 🐉
A kid from Cluj managed to hold, by his own accounts and not only, one million bitcoin. Today that would be tens of billions of dollars. And almost certainly lost forever.
This is just the ending. The beginning is even crazier 👇
📝 2008 - opens his Trilema blog, in Romanian. In 2012 he switches to Bitcoin and English. They say only ~10,000 people ever read him - but each of them then opened a Bitcoin Twitter account.
He shaped the thinking of an entire world from the shadows.
🏛️ Founder of MPEx, Bitcoin's "stock exchange". Did you want an account? You paid ~30 BTC just to walk through the door.
There he listed SatoshiDice, which he sold in 2013 for over 125,000 BTC (~11.5 mil $ back then) - the first major acquisition in Bitcoin history.
🔥 When the SEC comes after him, he laughs in their face. Quoting Roger Ver: "he trolled the SEC harder than anyone in history".
💾 2014 - OpenBSD was about to close due to lack of funds. He funds it. Wired calls him "Bitcoin Baron".
🐲 Maximalist before the word existed: only code mattered. No hard forks, no compromises.
But to be honest, he was also a dark figure. Nicknamed "the father of Bitcoin toxicity", he wrote violent things and put a bounty on the head of a Core developer. Genius and toxic in equal measure.
🌊 June 2021: he drowns on a beach in Costa Rica, at 41 years old. Authorities mistakenly list him as "of Polish origin".
The keys to the fortune - taken with him into the waves? Who knows? In this case it would be a gift to us all, from beyond the Styx, the river of hatred and invulnerability.
An impossible-to-ignore character. "Bitcoin is destiny", he used to say. His was written to the end.
