Is Civilization Rare in the Universe? The Fermi Paradox Part IV > Why don't we see aliens? A number of explanations have been put forward- habitable planets are rare (the Rare Earth Hypothesis), the evolution of intelligent life is improbable (multiple unique events in our evolution suggest there evolutionary big steps are hard steps), or maybe extinctions wipe out complex life on other planets. Here I explore another possibility: maybe intelligence is sufficient, but not necessary [*pretty sure that statement is backwards*] for the emergence of a technologically advanced society- that for various reasons, intelligent species get stuck short of spaceflight, perhaps in the stone age... if they even get that far. Very interesting video. I love this guy's content, especially this series on the Fermi Paradox. https://stacker.news/items/1605511

We welcome back @NEEDcreations to talk about the World Series and MLB more broadly. I'll be eager to hear the portions of the conversation that I missed while fighting with my kid about which bathroom she can use (~family). https://stacker.news/items/1605218

I started basing my podcast zap amounts on how much podcast income I’ve made. The balance lives in my fountain wallet and I zap 1% of it whenever I want to comment on a pod. That’s inherently sustainable and it keeps a nice little emergency stash available should I need it.

I think of the toxic maxis as something like an immune system for bitcoin. Sometimes people, especially newbies, need to see strong reactions against shitcoiners by established bitcoiners to not get sucked into their scams. You also generally want a distribution of views to exist on both/all sides of your own, to help spot errors in your own views.
