You don't have to pay to use twitter. I don't.
But that's not to say twitter doesn't have major problems. But it still has a pretty decent user base and you can make a good feed of interesting and varied stuff.
it is simply disqualified in my mind by the fact that what is "interesting" is defined by who uses it to promote their debt-fiat-driven extraction system.
nostr has its own algorithms driven by its most popular entry points but in the deep substrata lie people who are actually surfacing novel things. yes, twitter surfaces some of that too but the bias is much more obviously extractive. with nostr at least some of it is genuine human interaction.
i rate youtube as a better source for this kind of interaction, it has less of the influencoor mechanics and more of the AI driven randomness which is still better than X. that's my opinion anyway. for me, X is a less contentious but similar platform/forum with the same rotted culture warped by advertising promotional dynamics as Reddit, and honestly whenever i have filters or ip addresses that cause me to be blocked by reddit search results. i am happy. because fuck reddit. and by extension every social network that functions on similarly distorted incentives.

It's not really supposed to have better content though. A platform that preaches lack of censorship will attract dissidents, but not everyone who got censored was a dissident. Some (most) are just incredibly unbearable blowhards
No no, it's just confusing cos nostr is mostly a twitter clone, but really it's a dev chatroom.
So there's actually no point inviting people here in a way.
The sales pitch could have been 'follow me here for the takes that are a little too spicy for trad social media' back when it was a platform issue. Now that online speech is much more of a legal issue, inviting someone with a face and name to post controversial takes is like guiding them into a bear trap

Everyone bitching about nostr as social media doesn't understand the true power of what this protocol does. Grasp is by far the most powerful part of this protocol. I would say streaming is 2nd. I think some would argue demu is 2nd. The marketplace, calendars, vpns, etc are all epic too. If fips becomes more widely adopted, it will be arguably the most powerful development in a decade in terms of networking.
When I want hardboiled Bitcoin content, Delving, or the Bitcoin-devs mailing list scratch the itch.
If I want to see people flinging slop around about BIP-110 or some other bullshit, Twitter never fails to deliver. It's a platform for fighting.
Not saying that doesn't have its place, but it does scarcely ever actually resolve much of anything.

I'm not "bitcointwitter slop", I only hold a little bit of Bitcoin (and Monero) myself. I also regularly discuss the issue of a lack of content variety here. Even so, I would have to strongly disagree with this note.
Nostr content is (mostly) organic. It's not fed by algorithms, it's just people talking about things they care about. X/Twitter is literally just the same 15 posts over and over again until your algorithm changes and starts feeding you a new supply of drama and arguments that are literally designed to keep you anxious and feeling defeated.
I have an X account to keep in contact with some friends there but every day, I hate using the platform more and more for anything other than messaging. It all feels so artificial... because IT IS.
Even with Nostr's content variety issues, it's still a MUCH better experience with MUCH more wholesome and worthwhile content.

It's really not. I don't look at the For You feed, I follow a bunch of interesting people. Some have left, some post less but it is still incredibly varied. You have folklore experts, philosophers, linguists, theologians etc etc. I suspect you are looking at trending feeds. I really don't know. There are still lots and lots of very good people despite the exodus.

When someone is scrolling primal or wisp or yakihonne or any oth client will people see the video or only divine users.
I follow lots of interesting people and stick solely with the Following feed. The experience I described is based on that and it is terrible. The only time I actually see content I want to see is by enabling notifications for my favorite accounts and even then, that's not a great experience by any means.
