I had the same idea as you a couple years ago but never did it because it was a pain (without AI). But now after doing a cross-platform app, why is this flow not better? iOS here, but the same flow exists on Android. Both systems have a built-in password manager. There's even a navigator.credentials API that woks in Chrome.
Cool. But would that private key be accessible to the app? If so wouldn't that be a bit risky? Like for example an evil/buggy app exfiltrating the key, or if used in a web app be susceptible to xss? Remote signers solve that attack vector
Is this storing the "nsec" or an "ncryptsec" in the password manager? If there is a navigator.credentials in the browser id love to find a standard ways to load nsecs out of it. If the app needs the full nsec I would rather it store it in the password manager than localStorage :)
you could do both, up to you the problem with navigator.credentials tho is that the credential would only work for one website, you can't port your nsec
I do think the way you implemented the Google auth is really cool, but removing amber support is just a dealbreaker. So what, the options now will be nsec or google? Because normies?
No, I was just putting my nsec in every app and then I stopped because its a horrible way of doing things lol Youve gotten some pretty significant pushback against this, I hope you reconsider because I really dont want to find yet another client. And nostr certainly doesnt need another Primal
I feel like chiming in. "Working so well" implies a goal. What's the goal in your eyes? I think it works just fine. I'm happy to see normie focused stuff, by my main reasons for using nostr, that my voice is provably me and that I can't be censored, are working as intended. People can try any approaches they like and I wish them well.
That's a broad niche to target marketing at ser :wisp_lol: What are the specific persona you're going after? Age, gender, interest, location, problems they have, etc...

It's very difficult without creating an advertising system.
the beauty of nostr. a client for everyone. In response Amethyst just dropped a complete overkill (love it) and Primal is for the Influencers and people who need a trending algo or seek attention. I love nostr.
Now more than ever, they can quit complaining and build their own client or GFT. I’m building a restaurant app on Nostr and the restaurant owners log in with email / password. At a later time we will add extension support but right now I’m more interested in building a marketplace for restaurants and diners with the right foundation (aka Nostr).

False binary IMHO. It doesn't mean we should try *all* the new approaches. You have an audience of people who think in black and white and any trade-offs that damage sovereignty we'll be squawked about.
That's a whole genre of burger called gratin if a local Colombian burger place is anything to go by. But their burgers are actually appetizing. This comment has nothing to do with wisp btw I just think that cheese looks terrible 😬
"You can't criticize a restaurant unless you own and operate a restaurant." Said no one ever πŸ˜‚
Adding Google might be good idea for people using Facebook that don't get it and don't care (they would just stay there and on Twitter then...) And why remove good feature like external signer which is safer and can work offline ? Weird decisions I'm confused.
I don't understand, dropping Amber is a potentially good new approach? Adding other sign-in methods makes sense but dropping Amber will alienate customers and I don't know for what reason. What's bad about Amber?
Both goals are good. Do whatever the fuck you want. It's not your job to please everyone. I will however speak up when something is inconsistent, like the idea that you have to remove Amber support to reach a broad audience. But maybe it is what you need to do, I just don't know why you assume we know your reasons.
