Absolutely. Trader Joes dumpsters were better than many stores. I think they donate more now but not sure. Winters were the best; we'd even get steaks and smoked salmon.
I too dumpster dove when in my early 20s, or would just steal from the grocery store. At one point I realized I was basically acting like a Charles Dickens character and I wanted a better life for myself
Nah, they'd chuck stuff often a day before sell by anyway. Packaged, and with New England winter weather, refrigerated. The only time I've had food poisoning was eating sushi I BOUGHT from a Shaw's at night. Would not buy again.
