GM Some days I wake up and I see that a YT video I’ve published has got 6 views It might as well be zero Or at least it feels like that Lots of time, energy, and startup capital going into my podcast, and you get traction like that Fuck So depressing But then I realise: it’s not YT that is the problem, it’s me… My content just isn’t good enough This is the market talking back to me So Figure it out Find a way Hone your craft Never give up Onwards friends! Ps - I put way more time into Nostr personally, and I can feel everyday it improving as an experience, with all the feedback I get from the notes I publish (it’s still small scale, but I believe very high signal)

Just my personal opinion…you are incredibly early discussing and releasing content on a topic that a majority of the world has not identified as a solution to the current state of things. Remember, gradually then suddenly. You will be one of the pioneers that people turn to one day. Keep going. 🫂
@Jake Woodhouse the YouTube game is brutal. Your content is quality, don’t ever doubt that. Bram and I always talk about this part to making content. when you have information asymmetry like with Bitcoin it means 99% of people have no idea about their need for the content you’re making…YET. When they do realise, the proof of work will be there and you are definitely putting in the hard yards. Onwards🫡
I appreciate that. Amazing insight and piece of feedback, thank you And yes, on point. Ie the bedrock of knowledge is there for all to see, the proof-of-work. And one thing YT is good at, is resurfacing older content, unlike X etc, as it’s a search engine for video, so I am betting there will be compounded value in the future library of content Ps - amazing work you guys are doing. Well done
Perhaps make it more personal, we don't need a another generic Bitcoin podcast, but maybe talk about your personal experiences or the conditions in Oz, or what your plans are. Or what's happening in your community. Find your own unique path, don't follow the same road everybody else does. Just my 2 Sats worth 🫂
Thanks so much for the support Kyle, I really appreciate it And it’s a good point, if adoption is as early as we think it is, sub 5% of global population for sure, then the audience size is also very small at this stage That at some point flips Great reason to carry on in of itself, ie you’re building in a market that’s guaranteed to grow, which in a startup sense is far more important than the product itself, ie a fast growing and large market gives you plenty of room to trial and error to product market fit 🙏🏻
I know a few Aussie Bitcoiners on NOSTR, but I don't know much about the Bitcoin scene down there. I for one would be interested in the Bitcoin culture, the political landscape, the use cases, the availability of exchanges, banks, meetups. All that kind of stuff. I think you'd have a bigger audience that just Aussies, because we are all curious about Bitcoin conditions around the world, you can report on the ground locally for Australia.

Some videos just don't hit even if we liked them. Often times it's worth cutting and changing and reuploading it

Gm! Never give up, i feel the same about that, but never give up my friend, just walk to the future! Your true fans will support you always ✨😎🫂🌞
Thanks so much for the support. Means a lot I want to focus on what I find interesting, which right now has taken me to that level I guess I have to make peace with that One day maybe there’ll be a wider audience for it
Never. Say. Die. Just do what you know, deep down, is what YOU want to do. Remain authentic to your own voice and - with time - the audience will come. It sucks when you are in building mode. Trust me. I know all too well.
YouTube is the modern man’s boobtube - it forces you to adhere to algorithms so they can monetize the eyeballs. If your content appeals to anyone beyond an 8th grade education it probably won’t get much traction. Focusing here will probably pay off more in the future than any views on a platform designed for idiots. image
I think there’s definitely something to be said for building on Nostr long-term And there’s no way I want to create content on things I am not interested in I guess this is the trade off: are you creating for yourself, or for someone else
Through pain we grow. Growth is positive so is that your pain you are feeling. You’re just getting better&stronger keep going nobody can stop you. 🧡🫂💜 is the way 🤙🏼
Thanks for the encouragement! Yeah it’s something I am learning, the pain IS the growth Go where the resistance is strongest in a sense. Bash through it. What’s on the other side is what your vision is drawing your towards
It's kind of why you have to do this sort of stuff for yourself. It's often thankless work & the value you get from it is hard to justify the effort to keep going sometimes. Few remember those who gave up. Gotta have a strong "Why".

I've done it sporadically on some that don't really get any views. Sometimes all I've done is edit the title and that can get it back into the algorithm. Other times its changing the title and thumbnail. This seems to work best if you delete the video and reupload with the new details.
Packaging is such a huge part of it, as I’m sure you know. Jay Clouse of Creator Science has a couple good videos about this and writes about it. Basically you come up with both the idea AND the packaging before your shoot. So you might make your thumbnail before your shoot. If the goal is to get people who are interested in the intersection of bitcoin and finance into the “Jake ecosystem” I wonder if X would be the best way to grow: - Post comments - Host spaces But YouTube is great when someone likes Jake and wants to binge content. I make a decent number of sales from people - all men - who dive into one video and then watch 5 more. As my middle schooler would say, “You got this!” 👊
Never give up! Builders develop their original craft that find a method for connecting with the world. Bitcoin strengthens you. If we ever want to achieve a Bitcoin Freedom Society, then each of us have to go through this painful process of building concepts that work for the next generation to solidify Bitcoin. Onward and upward my friend! 🧡🚀
Bootstraping in the current attention economy is hard AF so do not give up. I have just never heard about your work, it looks solid. So reach might be a problem. I will listen more and give you an honest feedback! Improve, iterate, keep the good stuff coming.

Don't give up! I know exactly what you feel, but I'also sure that you're doing the right thing.. Those six people may seem like a small number to you, but if you had touched the strings of just one of them, you would have achieved a great goal and time will prove it to you.. even the first chypherpunks were just a few guys.. look now 💪 I listened to one of your episodes, your content is great... keep it up!

The market is a brutal but honest teacher. That self-awareness and drive to improve is what separates the builders from the dreamers
Here’s my two sats: I know nothing about Youtube SEO. But I do know that SEO is VERY important when you are trying to get views. No matter if it’s Youtube, Google, Facebook, or whatever. So, I am not sure that “the problem” is the actual content. For example, you look like a normal human being in your Youtube video thumbnails. Vast majority of the successful Youtubers look totally retarded. Take a look at the Ivan on Tech Youtube channel thumbnails: https://www.youtube.com/@IvanOnTech/streams In every thumbnail Ivan looks like somebody just inserted a candle into his rectum. Without his permission. When it comes to thumbnails and Youtube SEO, I think this tactic clearly works. I am not saying that you should copy his thumbnail tactic. Perhaps you simply don’t want to look like that. Or perhaps you want to choose a platform that, unlike Youtube, does not reward madness like that.
Good attitude! Also YT promotion is unfortunately really bad for long videos but fairly decent for YT shorts.
Thanks! Good insight. Truth is, I need to invest some more time into the strategy to answer some of those questions Not heard of Jay Clouse so will have a look at that Appreciate the help
Thanks so much for sharing. I’d been considering the crazy faced thumbnails, but it doesn’t fell right. It’s like click bait central, which is what YT is tbh So it’s a fine line between holding to your own interests but also wanting to see more traction It’s likely that thebiggiesy thing is tk just keep going for a long time, and the audicne compounds over time I’ll have a play around with it
Unfortunately I have no idea on how to build an audience, bht what I can say is that I end up listening to same podcasts. Time is scarce and you end up with the ones you know you like. It is not often I give someone else a shot. Might be the case your target audience is just sticking with their default. You gotta find a way to break that.
