Who out there is spearheading producing good food (think regenerative agriculture) and ideally part of a local economy and selling valuable product and/or food for sats? I’m really interested in this, specifically on the small business scale. Would love to connect, learn from and talk to anyone who’s doing this already. Feels like there is huge opportunity for us with nostr, btc and small makers/producers BUT need to figure out how to connect to/find the end customers. Bridge the gap. Anyway been a bit since I posted, so here we go😅 Also thoughts on leveraging something like maple ai for your small business endeavors. @Marty Bent has talked a lot about this in his recent publications and on RHR. I’m definitely intrigued and looking to hear more from others and their experiences using ai and btc for their small business. Cheers

The benefits of Maple AI over an LLM like ChatGPT being the privacy? I haven’t heard of Maple but we are about to leverage an LLM (or at least attempt to) to streamline our photography business much more than we have been - how to operate more efficiently and streamline our operations etc. To do that we need to provide an accurate picture of what we do, and some privacy would be nice. Maybe Maple is the solution here? -Tom
First you need a physical good or in person service to offer. So much developer worship here and not enough blue collar builder support. As a community I think we need to decide to engage with and especially zap that content more. After that, local meetups are the way. I don't do nostr at all for our small business because I don't want address tied to npub by any customers. Margins are small enough that shipping doesn't make much sense anyway. Now if only I could find a way to stop having schedule conflicts when my local meetup happens.
Yes, this is happening, trade routes are forming, a parallel Bitcoin economy centered around small scale production of high quality food is growing.
Do you have any follow recommendations? I’m always looking for more blue collar folks on here. I haven’t found a whole lot but I’ve only been here about 8 months. I hope Nostr grows and becomes less of a tech nerd/dev circle jerk
@AC @rev.hodl @soapminer @leathermint off the top of my head. I try to make a point of posting more of my DIY where I remember also but I post a lot more anti government stuff than hands on.

Great point. I may be starting one if I can’t find one. How do you all handle opsec and anonymity with meetups if you don’t mind me asking? I’m assuming different people do different things. Nym on nostr and meetups? I haven’t really ever navigated that and am figuring out what I want to do/how to do it. Because I see value in it for protecting your personal life and identity and family. No person is obligated to reveal everything about themselves. Privacy is intricately linked to freedom imo. But I also think when you talk about local economies and communities at small scale there is something to a handshake, a helping hand, a face to a name kind of thing. Any advice or thoughts on that?
It's up to the individual ultimately, but the biggest thing as a group is no pictures or video is permitted unless announced and allowing people to remove themselves or mask up.
Checking the follow lists of these people will also get you more. There's some pre built list service somewhere as well with a bunch of farmers as other trades too.

I agree 100%. Been trying to find more blue collar folks and artisans etc here. Honestly that stuff is what gets me the most pumped on nostr. 1000x more than shitposting and constant btc/dev/politics/doom porn. I mean I love btc…but more local craftsmen and trades, artists, businesses. All that stuff.

Tom, It’s pretty neat from what I’ve seen. I tried using it recently to scrape and search our county appraisal district website for land parcels that meet certain parameters for us to lease for a nascent regenerative ranching business idea we are working on over here. It worked fairly well and was easily 100x faster than my combing the site myself like I was, but not all of the information was as accurate as I’d like. Ie some of the property data was old ownership before those parcels were subdivided and sold off later. Still tinkering with it. I do think having your searches and use of it under e2e encryption is a big plus and you can apparently pay for their services in btc-also a big plus. @Maple AI
I've make handcrafted small batch jerky for sats. All made from local ground beef in unique flavors using clean ingredients - I have happy customers all over the world, but if I could partner with regenerative meat producers who accept btc and want to work with me, that would be a win for all. Currently, I have a great butcher down the street from me, a cash-only operation, and while I'm OK with it, they are fiat-based, so it's not ideal forever. Anyone interested should reach out to me at bjw@ketolish.us image is my website

Same. I’m hoping to be a proving example to them in my locale that it can be done AND is worth trying, etc. going to take time and some bootstrapping I’m sure. super bullish on this though.

This is amazing! Gah I’m not near your area otherwise I’d jump on this. I’m not sure if shipping meat across state lines would work well or be cost prohibitive/have other challenges. Something to look into. My plan is to do business in sats every time that I can.
Yeah, I’m following all those guys already. I pretty much do the same. Any time I do something worth posting I usually don’t realize it until after I’m done. Then I go “shit, I should have documented this”

Yeah, i followed you back. Lets see what we can build 👍🏻
There's also things like Vanarchy Express, an agorist over-the-road voluntary package transport, run entirely by private people who share space in their car or truck that has the ability to take things to people or places that are on their route. I wish I had some other link besides their telegram chat (which is dead). Anyway, it's an excellent model to think about replicating for people like us who have gray market products to transport.

That’s really cool. I’ve never heard of Vanarchy Express. Definitely interested though
Freeborn Farm is working on this! We haven't found a coat effective way to ship ourngrass fed and finished beef, goat and lamb orpastured pork but we're getting ready to share a line of non perishable products that are more friendly for shipping!
