When will you guys learn? Apple is a bully and will keep blocking software which encourages freedom. Its literally in their business model of building an Apple ecosystem: apps which allow 'freedom' allow people to escape the 'ecosystem'. Please, for the love of god, throw your iPhones away and get a GrapheneOS phone. You'll miss nothing. You'll come to love being free. Apple is a shitcoin.
It saddens me seeing how you have to waste your time and talent trying to satisfy the wishes of the tyrant. Do you really have to go through them to be successful in your mission?

I know this is frustrating. Don’t let it get to you.
I don't believe that it will ever be a way to keep zaps after Apple noticed the app. Even Brave Browser had to remove their ads rewards program from the iOS version. I know, people love Apple, but it is time to think about #freedom in your mobile, in your desktop, in your router...
I’m looking at how bitcoin ‘tips’ are integrated into Twitter iOS - I see that when someone has it setup in their profile, I can tap and copy their bitcoin address, but no app linking to wallets. Looking for other instances or types of tipping but this is what I see. Change to the same? Tap and copy profile lnurl or address in Damus?
I already called they weren't going to accept it.. it was kind of obvious..
Sadly I am not surprised. Apple still sees the modified zap flow as the same thing since you can still initiate it from a note. I still can believe Apple let zaps slip through in the first place. There will be no winning this ☹️
I dont know how to buy digital content with the damus app. Can you explain how this works? I only see the ability to make donations and tips.
The only way they will allow this to work , is if every Lightning tip, 30% went to apple. And that wouldn't work either. Better just get on board with android.
At least there's lots of web based versions of Nostr such as snort. So If you don't have the funds to get an android, you can just use a browser version. Also you can get androids with great battery and camera on Amazon. Brands such as Blu, umidigi, etc.
You should contact them, apparently they have already marked #[2] on a list and they are not reviewing the changes that have already been corrected.

Return the app to how it was before that update and let apple go
Would hope you wouldn’t need to, but it really seems like either they have an agenda and are trying to find rules to apply, or they just simply don’t understand how this works. Could be a bit of both.

Ok. Bye Apple
You can continue to try comply with the overlords to find out you can't over and over again, or you can start working on alternative more open solutions where overlords have no power. Brutal reality unfortunately. Time to thave low time preference also on your shiny phones. View quoted note →
Why? Why continue to buy and use the products of a company that obviously hates you? Don't forget PWA's on iOS are locked to Safari 😂 who says they don't fuck with that in the future...
Probably a naive/stupid idea but how about: - Add in-app purchase for 1000/$1, 2500/$2 and 5000/$4 "tipping tokens" (sats), respectively. - Enable the function only if LNURL is configured. - Auto-generate withdrawal url + invoice as post-purchase hook - Damus gets to profit on diff on the exchange rate (minus apple cut) - Apple gets their cut - Apple requirements formally fulfilled

Brb going to swap phones and install grapheneOS. Fuck apple.
I thought about that. Just need a way to integrate with a bitcoin exchange? Then other guidelines comes into play i think

Or azteco, that's exactly what they're offering. Could be easier with azteco, because you're just redeeming a voucher, you're not touching any exchange.
Maybe can hire the Wagner Group to land in the middle of Infinity Loop and overthrow Cook? 🤣🥸 Okay, maybe getting an Android phone is easier and cheaper.

Every dirty trick will be used to cut people off from better alternatives, no matter how innocuous.
I don’t believe that. The reviewers would just think its from damus users.

Yea, the best way to change their tune is to harm their income. Give your attention and money to better alternatives 👍 Depending on where you live the Librem 5, Fairphone 3+, PinePhone, or any de-googled phone that can accept GrapheneOs or LineageOs would help move away from walled gardens.
I don’t they would even accept that. Their request is for me to remove zaps altogether. Which is already different than my call with them previously.

Belgium and Ireland just made Bitcoin exchanges / wallets illegal it seems. So you’re doing something right. Also Apple trying to launch their Apple Pay card in India…
You think Damus is best because you don't have an Android with Amethyst? Or you've tried both extensively? I think the closed, gatekeeping, systems Apple loves is gonna bite them in the ass in the long run. Open systems win, IMO.
I use chrome. I’m I don’t think apple hates me, but it would give me more options. I’m a libertarian and a capitalist.
For most at this point even a Google enabled Android phone is a better option. You can always sideload apk and reinstall with something less Googlefied down the road. A step in the right direction is better than boot licking.

I tried Amethyst in my mothers phone an user experience isn’t the same, but it’s good too, and I agree with you open systems wins, that’s why I sell my iPhone last week and I’m waiting for pixel to run a open system software. But for now I’m using my old iPhone until pixel arrive.

Depends on the phone. Most major manufacturers make it close to impossible to change the OS in many countries. Samsung is fully locked down here in Canada for instance. But as you said, I can load an apk and block their tracking at least.

Fuck #Apple, go open source!
What about a company app like Square? They have the accept tips feature??? 🙄
Removing the ability to call a wallet (other app) that does a zap as you had in the initial release didn’t seem to be an issue 🤔💭 As much as I’d personally hate to see #[4] away from the iOS/iPadOS side of things, a revert to that initial/prior state seems to be the route. The other part here, what I don’t think is coming thru Apple’s notes to you, is that Apple has conflict of regulation with both being a storehouse of value itself and managing apps which pass value… the solution will not be a dissolution of the iOS AppStore as much as it will be something closer to the older-method of harsh curated app collections… AppClips on iOS points to this
People don't understand the value of free software until the proprietary software owners decide to prevent them from doing things

THERE IS ZERO CORRELATIVE AND PROVABLE CONNECTION OR ASSOCIATION WITH RECEIVING DIGITAL CONTENT AFTER ZAPS image
So how about when you use a browser? They also facilitate these things. Maybe the way forward is to reposition this as "Nostr Browser"
Clearly Damus is in accordance with 3.1.1 even before the change. developer.apple.com/app-store/review/guidelines/#payments However, it's still not great for the App Store (or Google Play) with the existing guidelines. It's an opportunity for competition like F-Driod on mobile, and it'll be great to have even more with Lightning payments integrated. View quoted note →
Damus and Nostr in general is a Threat to Apple and Google. Once a client starts to become very popular - “They” don’t even need a good excuse to remove you. The only long term solution is working off the Apple and Google platforms - IMHO….
This is after removing zaps on notes? Absolute BS! I'll be staying far away from Apple's cucked ecosystem from here on out. Anyone have a recommendation for a tablet to replace my iPad Pro? Needs to support a pressure sensitive stylus like the Pencil.
IMHO buy an older model, and unlocked phone on ebay. In this case it is possible that the IMEI does not belong your country. But choose carefully, before buy, se the supported phones on the desired custom rom disgributions website. And if you a newcomer in custom roms, buy a cheaper one. So if you make a brick from the phone you easily throw it :-)
Integration itself shouldn’t be an issue. Many exchanges provide apis. The issues are likely about the exchanging process itself though. Depending on the jurisdiction you’re in, all sorts of regulation could kick in to the point where you might need some license. It’s all rather ludicrous, imho. If Damus was one of those pay-to-level-up type of games you could simply sell tokens or gold stars through the app store and nobody would bat an eye.
I was going to appeal the specific guideline they dinged me on but apparently thats not even the thing that I’m getting removed for. I don’t know how to appeal a hidden guideline.
Apple went after Brave browser a while back due to the bat tokens. They remove them, but they’ve kinda just picked on them ever since. Idk man. This situation sounds very familiar. Maybe the App Store isn’t the best place for Damus, or really Nostr in general. Posted from Apple iOS lol
