I agree with you Fren and was just having this very conversation with a Fren of mine during lunch today. No where in the above paragraph did I insult my parents. What i’m expressing is that, like many of us, I had to unlearn and undo patterns, baggage, and unhealthy dynamics that were passed down. I have a good relationship with my parents and do my best to honor them, but I still take note of reality -- the disservices they inflicted on me. I don't hold it against them.
