I am thinking of blocking all TOR exit nodes from free uploads. Not decided yet, but a constant CSAM (daily) from random exit nodes is very disturbing and has negative mental health impact on moderators ๐Ÿ˜ญ

WDYM. This will break a ton of clients, and that we cannot do. We can block TOR exit nodes for free uploads, thatโ€™ll probably eliminate 99% of the problem without inconsistency for normies
Perhaps if it has a temperature for detection maybe turn it up? Or perhaps use another model to block all NSFW images if you are only using one which detects CSAM? Not sure
This has been my biggest fear with Nostr. I'd love to run relays for people, but don't want to open myself up to litigation, nor become responsible for moderation. I really admire what you're doing. There's no wrong answer. You're doing the Lord's work.
damn that sucks. in that case i think blocking free uploads only on tor is a decent compromise. its not like its all free uploads
Understandable. Sad. I wish I had an alternative solution to suggest, but by the looks of the thread you've already considered it all (paid uploads, PoW, automated detection, etc.)
maybe in a few months i will have an algorithm together that totally wipes the floor with WoT for actually analysing text, at least, and identifying bots and spammers and trolls. in fact that is easy stuff in the larger picture of what the underlying technique i have discovered can do.
The firehose of any popular relay will unfortunately subject you to people spamming Telegram groups promising all kinds of filth. I'm not sure how it works, but I presume they're selling content? I imagine they'll upload it wherever they can host it.
not so. newcomers can use the house PoV (nostr.build in this case) or anyone else's. a nostr client could offer a PoV that new users would be able to use effortlessly until they develop their own. there is no cold start problem
