I am thinking of blocking all TOR exit nodes from free uploads. Not decided yet, but a constant CSAM (daily) from random exit nodes is very disturbing and has negative mental health impact on moderators ๐ญ

block accounts, not protocols and networks
My dear god I wouldnt want to be in your skin...๐คฎ๐คข๐คฎ๐คข...
Yeah, right. Nostr npub is a random bits string that can be generated at will 1M times a second.
Have you considered blocking free uploads?
Perhaps try running one of those image detection models which detects CSAM and it blocks it, perhaps that could work?
I would, if you wanna be a big boy with tor then you gotta pay
WDYM. This will break a ton of clients, and that we cannot do. We can block TOR exit nodes for free uploads, thatโll probably eliminate 99% of the problem without inconsistency for normies
We already do, and it is far from perfect
Perhaps if it has a temperature for detection maybe turn it up? Or perhaps use another model to block all NSFW images if you are only using one which detects CSAM? Not sure
Do it
We tried it all, not an easy problem. In the end human has to verify and report
Will do it today, no more free TOR
This.
No one should have to witness all the CSAM ๐ฉ
This has been my biggest fear with Nostr. I'd love to run relays for people, but don't want to open myself up to litigation, nor become responsible for moderation. I really admire what you're doing. There's no wrong answer. You're doing the Lord's work.
Iโm very fortunate to have never seen any of that shit on nostr
Weโve been removing it as fast as humanly possible, but we are not the only ones hosting media and some may take longer or be faster ๐ซก
then only allow WoT accounts to upload
You are lucky... i cant even and dont wanna think of the time ,it flashed in front of my eyes... my brain ereased it... but that shit is traumatising... it truly is ... words cant describe what I would do to those people... scum of Earth... ๐ก๐คฌ๐ข๐ฟ๐ ๐ค๐ก๐ก๐คฌ
Unreliable and gameable
There was a big wave a year, or two ago.
It was really bad but I think most of the clients have essentially caught on for the most part.
I'd tag Verita to have him see this if he didn't block the Mostr bridge from his instance entirely after leaving Nostr.
Actually fuck it, I'll do it anyway.
@Vivi Nella Verita
proper WoT (like GrapeRank) is not gameable. And you can tune the strictness if you need it more "reliable"
Doesnโt solve cold start issue, and practically useless for newcomers
damn that sucks. in that case i think blocking free uploads only on tor is a decent compromise. its not like its all free uploads
Understandable. Sad. I wish I had an alternative solution to suggest, but by the looks of the thread you've already considered it all (paid uploads, PoW, automated detection, etc.)
nip-42 *runs away*
You are absolutely right! ๐๐คฃ๐
I always mix them up, because I am a moron ๐๐ญ๐
maybe in a few months i will have an algorithm together that totally wipes the floor with WoT for actually analysing text, at least, and identifying bots and spammers and trolls. in fact that is easy stuff in the larger picture of what the underlying technique i have discovered can do.
This sucks.
Curious, do you think this is people trying to actually distribute CSAM, or an attack on your servers?
Both, I think. One can be feds testing services, one some sick mofos that try to find save heaven
The firehose of any popular relay will unfortunately subject you to people spamming Telegram groups promising all kinds of filth. I'm not sure how it works, but I presume they're selling content? I imagine they'll upload it wherever they can host it.
Sorry to hear that you have to deal with this shit.
I havenโt even run into those either lmao Iโm very fortunate
not so. newcomers can use the house PoV (nostr.build in this case) or anyone else's. a nostr client could offer a PoV that new users would be able to use effortlessly until they develop their own. there is no cold start problem
Wait, so you have human moderators to check content? ?
Your mind is not a trash can.
