highly regarded. this is peak central planning vibes. Ignore the market then tell the market what is easier for them despite the conclusion the market already arrived at. Completely retarded.
Their fuckin idea of rebranding bitcoin. Dorsey was pushing for that. Thought he let it go. Looks like they've been doing work in background though.
This is a great idea! We will do the same thing with US dollars. One cent will now be simplified to $1 and One dollar will be simplified to $100. We're cancelling decimals! They're just too confusing. 🧐
I’ve spent a long time among tech trends and users. This isn’t the last little change in the Bitcoin world that will try to ease things for users without jacking up the usability. Get used to it. Something will eventually stick. It barely matters.
Not an opinion given. That’s just the perspective I end up landing with when I see someone with audience make a UX call I don’t agree with. Ignore my post. Just my cope.
Yeah, that was a bold statement. What I meant by it was that the shitty tries often fail and are replaced by the inspired approaches that resonate with users and other vendors or devs. It was me saying that the bad ideas will get replaced by the good ones. Time is on our side with this one.

We're all Matter that don't matter
I feel bad for all those people running small bitcoin businesses that incorporated 'sats' into their business names, who, for years, have been the real face of bitcoin as money, who will now be left explaining twice as much as they already were, lest change all their names and logos and legal filings... Bitcoin might not care, but people can. Sad day.
Didn't know about that. Just checked the settings and it shows that b sign (formerly sats). Just like our government, changing things without a vote, and for no good reason
Not a fan; but this is not one of the hills I'm willing to die on. It feels like @npub1cash...dg5l and the whole Block ecosystem has a better shot at drawing in more normies than any other bitcoin project for the forseeable future. If @jack wants to use “₿”, then so be it. As far as I'm concerned, the sooner the rest of us get onboard, the better for everyone. I surrender. That being said, "₿ is the smallest unit of bitcoin..." doesn't make much sense if you don't tell normies how to pronounce it. Tell them that “₿” is the symbol for "sats" if that's the intent. I fear that's not the intent, though. I suspect they really want to call it "bitcoin", and couldn't bring themselves to say so in this notice - because of how patently silly it would have been to say "Bitcoin is the smallest unit of bitcoin..." That *IS* a hill I am willing to die on.
God willing, one day in the not too distant future, even @npub1cash...dg5l will have to recognize smaller units of Bitcoin such as millisatoshis. I wonder if @jack would just try redine "bitcoins" again? or if he would finally see what an unforced error it is to try to do so in the first place.
Yea it’s odd to me. Essentially the entire Bitcoin ecosystem of users, apps, exchanges, educators, businesses, etc, over the course of 17 years has adopted “sats” as the standard terminology. There are some outliers, but overwhelmingly this is true to the point that this move by cashapp is genuinely confusing and disenfranchising. There isn’t even an option to switch the display BACK to sats if you want to. It’s forced on every user of the app and that is just gross.

I like sats, but ₿ is the only proposal that makes sense to me. Surely better than bits lol

Lol Sats are the standard.. what part dont you get?
The "$5 in bitcoin" was just easier to say instead of 100ksats... Now that 1k is as easy as 1$ I think they just want to make sure people will keep on in fiat..... Sad

You may not like it now, but in time nobody will have a full Bitcoin. Makes sense when you understand it from a long term perspective.
