Getting people to try out Nostr isn't as much of a problem as getting them to stay.
How do we fix this?

The onboarding flow is so key
Stay? I can’t leave! Long live Nostr.
GM
A client that you can log in with your Facebook, Instagram, twitter or whatever and copy your legacy social media to Nostr all at once.
Do any of the media hosters on nostr have the capability? Or would this be too much?
You'd need permission from all those legacy platforms to do this and I don't think they share that data
Nostr is forever 🫡
Smashing it out the park guys!
If it was only so easy… or is it 🤔

It might be unsolvable. People say opposite of what they do. They SAY they are tired of doom scrolling but they go back to it every time because they’re addicted. We have global scale addiction and most don’t recognize this. I haven’t even heard anyone on nostr mention this.
Hell, you even have people on nostr moaning about lack of algorithms. It’s truly bizarre.
Pretty easy:
- produce content of interest (not just Bitcoin, privacy, and Nostr)
- keep searching and engage with others beyond your group.
- patience. People will come and stay if you do those things.
Groups I miss from other platforms:
1) DJs and music producers
2) local meets that happened IRL after finding each other on <insert social>.
People come and go.
Some will stay.
for the moment the little I could do is just let them know about the existence of this place.

As a recent convert from X I think it’s about content variety and discoverability.
I hate the X algorithm but you do need something that gives people something interesting to read every time they open Nostr. Some sort of middle ground
And it can’t all be Bitcoin, pictures and memes
Cold start problem. People do not post content to where their audience is not. Why would they? Content follows audience, not the other way around.
Not only churn, but the whole network is shirking, now smaller than 3 years ago. People come, see a bunch of (in their minds) bitcoin crap, leave.
People who are okay with bitcoin stuff stay, but then get bored of the relative nature of it, leave also
Bitcoin is killing nostr.
Bitcoin price action just kills Bitcoin engagement in general and that is killing Nostr engagement rn
Completely agree
