We can understand things waaaay faster than people can talk, 2x speed is The Way. Speed reading is also a cheat code.

Knowing "everything" is knowledge. Kind of knowledge is knowing that tomato is a fruit but intelligence is not putting it in a fruit salad.

funny. I used to do it all the time for years... and it seems like I have been leaving everything at normal speed lately. don't even know why. like I totally forgot I could actually speed things up.
Is this because most people try to speak slowly so they sound more intelligent & poised? Not going to lie, it does sound more & more appealing nowadays to increased the playback speed. Might try later 🫡
I have the opposite situation. I used to listen to everything at 1.5-2x speed, but now I listen to everything at the original speed. I can’t quite explain it clearly yet, but it feels like my brain processes information more effectively when it thinks slowly. At higher speeds, it’s more like “listening just to listen” rather than “listening to remember.”
I’ve been listening to everything at 2x speed. The brain has a natural ability to quickly gather information and then summarize it. Because most content only has 10-20% that we need to learn and remember.
What made you change your mind? I always felt like our brains are optimized to absorb at 1x speed. I have tried some podcasts at a higher speed but it really feels like i cannot keep up. This probably has to do with the material being discussed and maybe even english not being my main language. I've never listened to an audiobook though. Books are always more verbose so maybe it works better for those.
2.5x and sometimes even 3x. TFW Alexander Mercouris' 1.5h show only lasts 30-40 minutes. 😇

I guess you did say ‘ability to’ so maybe you don’t mean it’s smart to always actually do it

What changed your mind? I struggle to listen to anything slower than 1.75, usually at 2 depending on the speaker. It’s not even a hack, my brain simply doesn’t engage 😔

There’s much truth in this statement. I’d include a pinch of intuition along with a light sprinkling of creativity

I really struggle with 1.5 x and definitely can’t do the 2 x. I’m a read every word of every line kinda guy

1.25x still sounds natural-ish to me. I can’t do faster than that
I can’t listen to a podcast at 1x speed. I wonder if knowing that most people speed it up, podcasters now slow their recording down? 1x Sounds so slow now, slower than real life conversations.

Feel like the flash when you switch back to 1x and wonder “does everyone speak this slowly?” lol
Maybe that’s why Jack sounds so dull? All this time he’s been playing at the wrong speed…
Many people noticed that listening to podcasts at higher speeds has caused issues with relating to others, including their kids. When you get used to information at a fast pace it can create a mental framing where you expect information faster. When dealing with others who are doing things at "normal speed" this can lead to more anxiousness or irritation with them. What are your thoughts?
Depends on the speaker. I listen to people with heavy accents at slower speeds. I listen to Roastbeef at 1x.🤣

I’m convinced that a lot of YT videos slow their videos down to stretch them out for more ad revenue.
it does for me! I occasionally use the option to slow it down, like .75 or something. Whatever that one lower option is.

but how you can proceed the information then? i think still with 1x speed you need breakes between paragraphs to reflect.

So, do you reduce the time dedicated to feelings based on what you hear? Or do you believe that when listening, only knowledge influences and no other factors are involved?

Mmmm, i think that with this type of mindset you could become a person who is never fully satisfied with their knowledge and always wants more. Sometimes you need to know when to stop and say you don’t know, and the rest will come naturally
It's very difficult for me. It reminds me of the videos of influencers who mount them without leaving silences and stress me out.

Things like this have been irking me a lot , it's this diff of visable effects of my word being seen from past signaling (21' me I think ) and present me bereft of the support or meaningful .. stuff , as a litmus test of what humanity can offer(show me whatchu got) just see stupid echoes of others desires, every profound wisdom I've educated distorted and placed like darr smeared penny paper on a projector while I'm reaching to the feng1 and reviled by all which so desperately an callously clings to two d cutouts of what they want me to be while spitting on the space time cross sections floating through their cubicles.
