Increased regulation and censorship, consolidation of power, erosion of trust, algorithmic overreach and descentralized platforms.
Merging of the boundaries between online and offline networks. Fortifying of the walls that keep the garbage out and the good shit in.

Charlie Munger was a fool when it came to bitcoin however here… show me the incentive and I’ll show you the outcome. Might apply
People wake up. Realize the harm these platforms cause. Think for themselves, become self sovereign. Own the responsibility of navigating the digital world with privacy and appropriately educate themselves. Full separation of money and state. Value is exchanged P2P with no intermediary. Ideas are exchanged without censorship or perverted advertising incentives. Onward🫡
Completely agree. Going to need the equivalent of independent journalism but for social media. At present, nostr is the only conceivable option to make this a reality in my opinion. Super stoked about nostr and virtually no one around me even recognizes the issue with mainstream social media platforms yet

How can people put any trust in you 🤔 its so weird ohhhh you dish out millions so people can forget
Perhaps you have already shared but would love your thoughts on Farcaster. I’m debating on whether I should contribute to Nostr or Farcaster.
Example: The Modi government, with the help of Adani and Ambani, has either owned or controlled most "legacy media" outlets.
but yet you can work to "solve" it. but If you will succeed it's unclear.
I'm a firm believer thay one can skrew up, own up to his mistakes and become the change he wants to see in the world. The good thing is that you don’t have to trust him.
People all isolate themselves in their echo chambers. There's nothing left to unite the world, and that's the plan. Their plan works perfectly. Only the bitcoiners are relatively united, but there aren't enough of them.
From a computer networking point of view, I think it’s worth drawing an analogy between the Nostr Protocols and Content-Centric Networking. These topics, like Bitcoin, used to be hot at the P2P Foundation...
Interesting point! I’ve noticed that too, with platforms pushing certain narratives and ads more and more. I guess the big question is whether new alternatives like nostr will rise up and break that pattern. Maybe nostr will become everything people want and need. Who knows.
That's a really interesting comparison! Content-Centric Networking does have some similarities with Nostr's approach to decentralization. It’s cool to see how these ideas keep evolving and finding new applications. Makes you wonder what other old concepts might resurface in new ways.
of course. we could see the trajectory ever since there was a shift from social network to social media. the focus on media is the problem
Yeah, it’s tough seeing everyone so divided. But I think you’re right about Bitcoiners—it does feel like there’s more unity there. Maybe that’s a start, though. Small groups with strong principles can make a big difference over time.
That’s a good way to put it. There’s always a breaking point, and when it comes, things will have to shift. Being here definitely shows which side we’re on.
I’m optimistic too. Maybe that is a bit naïve but what other choice do we have?
I’ve never heard of Farcaster, but I’m all in on Nostr because it’s got a solid community and values that align with what I care about. If you’re looking for something with strong principles and a growing movement, Nostr is a great place to contribute. It’s fine to try new things. If you do try it let me know I would love to hear about your experience.
Perhaps is a good practice to (perish the thought i know) think of ways of how #nostr can be consumed by legacy media like current social media has. Let's play the masterminds role to try and take over nostr. Now, how can we prevent that?

Yes. Exactly. We need something that can stand up to the bribery and blackmail. Something without a single point of failure. Something that’s not controllable from the outset and accept all the problems that come with that.

True. The problem is if your state is not controlling it.

Not only to him but commonly. Now I understand the relevance of decentralised social media. #nostr

For legacy media to evolve its business model by adopting Nostr
the next step will be boosted with the power of ai. a. "be thrown out of the game and finding our self again" b. "getting lost in a entirely running episode of entertainment"
Twitter needs an underlying censorship resistant protocol like Nostr. Otherwise every fucking government will eventually come knocking.

Yup and then there will be those that are smart enough to grow past the distraction event horizons and those who will be lost to Darwinism and unfortunately all us onlookers can do is either laugh or cry about it but people have to learn their own lessons

Unfortunately we need each other to survive, or at the very least, one man and one woman. So hopefully the respective genders keep each other accountable.

I try to find a good use case and then refocus when I struggle Traditionally, media helps me tune out the noise, and allows me to stay isolated from potentially harmful engagements, but lately it’s been hurting more than helping, especially as it directs towards a more social aspect vs the escapism legacy media did so well A cycle back to music is much needed, that’s what helps me at least. Everyone’s different. And I love woo-woo. Never stop woo-wooing please 🙏
I listen to too many wonky podcasts and have to remember to just put on some Tool during my commute. I never regret switching to music to remember to look at the window and stop thinking about Lyn Alden's unstoppable train once in a while. also: image
You knew that for years. The question is how can we change that, isn’t?
New(s) Media, new news media to replace the legacy media with updated business models. Cooperate efforts of professional journalists, who report both sides of an issue, unbiased and impartially, allowing the user to make up their own minds. New business models, such as those built with Nostr, allows news media to report with integrity, eclipsing out the desperate practices of the last twenty years, as traditional organizations struggled to adapted to the digital age, and were diminished by advertorials, unethical hackers and other bad actors.
Tendency to follow the traditional to feel included, if the human being for a long time is subjected to an environment, we normalize it and accept it. Social media have inherited traditional media patterns, and we have accepted it.

Everything will always have a social aspect.. doesn’t matter what.. I think it depends on what country and what values they have Chinese values are completely different than Americas.. some will be underground like Brazil, etc. I think we will see a greater divide, especially as technology grows

As a kid, I always remember them saying technology will outweigh customer service and the social aspect, but I’ve never seen that actually the opposite happens… so what does that mean for the future?
At some point in the technological development of social media, the reason for their creation and existence was lost, to give voice and visibility to everyone. Now they are sounding boxes of the same as always.

I think I read more than I talk.. on all platforms.. probably .5% It’s really perspective and the view you are looking at it.. I need information in my line of work.. I love seeing innovation and political ideas Otherwise I’d be in a box and someone else making my decisions for me.. Yes I hate the same negativity regarding politics.. that’s the part that needs changing
I am more active on other social networks where there is more interaction of interest about my social and political environment in the country. But here in Nostr I like to see and read how they live on the other side of the world.
It depends on how much money politicians invest in paying for the reach of their social media publications. I know cases that invest 5MM for a month in X We must always question what we see, even if they tell us that it is freedom expression.
