it's half way between europe and usa and at least the flight from the UK was like $200.
it's a little expensive for transport and accommodation but food is cheap and there's loads to see.
only advice is: get fit before you come because the hikes are pretty epic and worth the training.
Will definitely visit Portugal one day 💯
