AMAZON TURNED YOUR DOORBELL INTO A POLICE SURVEILLANCE WEAPON Amazon-owned Ring just quietly partnered with Flock - a license plate tracking system already used by police and ICE - meaning footage from your front door can now feed into nationwide surveillance networks. Did anyone actually agree to this?

Yes. It's in the End User License Agreement. Why anyone would trust a multi-national corporation is beyond me.
I have a friend with one. Chimes his damn phone every 5 seconds. Refuse to go to his house after seeing it on the door. That creepy being watched feeling shouldn’t be ignored.
I really wonder if at least 10% people here are surprised by this. We got so accustomed to this level of blatant violation of privacy.
no they didn’t agree. and the Silicon Valley Millennials will keep doing it until the people make them stop doing it. but the people would rather complain on social media, then lay on the couch watching propaganda TV eating chemical food.
tbh, anyone who did not see this coming is naiive. It does not make it less horrible though.
You can turn off the notifications, but the footage is on THEIR servers. you really believe they aren't just doing it as a matter of fact? There's absolutely nothing stopping them from doing as they wish with the data on their servers.
Wouldn't mind it but they're using "find lost pets" as a pre-text to request consent which is just straight up evil.
same folks that bought a google nest thermostat and an amazon alexa and then act surprised they’re being spied on do dumb things win dumb prices
they thought i was silly when i said we should stop buying things with computers in them. or at least computers we dont control
Thanks for pointing this out. We’re sleepwalking into the digital panopticon.
Yeah, every customer likely signed consent for this, because they are cunts.
In my small town I can’t really go anywhere without being seen, starting with my next door neighbour.
Hmmmm. Thats wild! Especially since Ring Cameras are not only used/sold in the USA. Does that mean that the American Government can effectively spy on international Ring Product users? 🤔

Yes, everyone agreed when buying this. Ignorance and comfort are the enemy of a free society and free, sovereign individuals. There comes the Phrase "Naaaah I got nothing to hide (so I dont care)" Only the informed, wake once are able to counteract. The rest is asleep.

I think this is not limited to the US. Germany already shares data with US. I have to assume our regime is also using/sharing this specific data.
Interesting. Then I have to guess that all Ring cameras, moving forward, are compromised & should be seen as active national security threats or the like. Definitely something to ponder over while looking at security of self.

Well, yes, thats how I look at it. But thats also something you cannot influence yourself, unless you know someone and inform them, thats all you can actively do.

Okay there might be another thing you can actually do. Build your own, open-source alternative 😉
Yeah, I hear you 🤓 but I’m not only worrying about my own safety here as that would be air for sure. It’s more about how everyone thinks Ring Cameras are completely safe but here we are with another reality they haven’t even thought of yet. As someone that lives on the other side of the world, this is pretty concerning knowing that visuals are now accessible by another country’s Goverment agencies.

This is unethical by Amazon. It shows what companies will do to turn a profit and when they are coerced by governments.

People are fine with it until they are impacted. You probably wouldn’t like it if they mailed you a ticket based on a minor traffic infraction caught on one of the cameras. What if your location history caught by a series of these cameras was leaked on the internet? A better system is for them to have to gain your consent prior to using the footage on a case by case basis.
Yup everyone did! Do you accept the Terms and Conditions….. Click yes and continue right into your own surveillance state 😂
People should copy and paste the terms of service into a @PayPerQ private session and see what you click YES to - you Do Consent 😂

Then they could just go seize the pentagon cameras when the plane hit, that would be too easy.

Implied consent.. Probably on the terms of agreement that no one reads.

No I didn’t. Did anyone agree to having chemicals for GeoEngineering and who knows what else rained down from above on a daily basis?
