It amazes me how few people comment on anything but you know theyโ€™re doom scrolling for new content
My approach was to follow literally everyone I came across at first. Once I hit where I was following like 1000 people I started unfollowing some who had either become inactive or weren't posting the kind of stuff I was interested in seeing all the time. Then I've done that same thing a few timesโ€”follow more people, go back and unfollow inactive or uninteresting accounts later on.
Unfortunately for me, though I do zap and like posts a lot, I find limited joy in the strategy of initiating lots of superficial interactions vs. fewer but more meaningful interactions (which for me occur by actually talking to real people). Probably because I don't have lots of time, and partly because of my age/generation, and also because I don't inherently possess the skills of shmoozing and shitposting online. I wish I did have those skills LOL. Also, I'm a slow writer - this post took me like 8-10 minutes to write and edit, etc. That's too long if I need to be spraying comments everywhere on here. But in the end I understand that because of my lack of ability and time I'll only have very little engagement on here. And that's OK by me ๐Ÿ˜ in the end this took me 12 min. LOL
One of my favourite templates Love this meme. Hilarious ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

What is this relationship you speak of? Iโ€™m just here to pontificate on my moral superiority and receive validation for my banal repetition of catch phrases!

Just because I live in a house, doesnโ€™t mean Iโ€™m a house cat. ๐Ÿฆ
i think its because everyone on nostr (20 of em) isnt liking your posts and you didnt post in all caps

Reinforces the echo chamber.
๐Ÿ’ฏ I wish that data vending machines for discovery of content/people were more prevalent and integrated in clients. Search, onboarding, etc., would be improved so much.
The danger is that nostr could recapitulate too many aspects of legacy social media, in exactly the way you mention. Actively rewarding people bc they are influencers = punishing those who are not influencers. Lots of people donโ€™t want us to recreate that world.
If you are on nostr, why go back to "X" ? There more people ? there more algo ? you have more followers ? or maybe all of those, plus are you after fame and number ad ? (background and clothing pay attention)
Sometimes replies do not get traction. I would check up daily on my friends, however the day I stopped, conversation ended. Same cycle each season. That is why I love lonely places. People think I am a lesbian, while there are no handsome or durable characters in University
I alternate between both. There are still much more content I like to read on Twitter than nostr (unfortunately). Nostr is grassroots and genuine, but feels like an echo chamber after a while. Twitter is mostly fake and full of BS (scam ads, impersonators), but if you doesnโ€™t use the โ€œfor youโ€ feed, you can still read mostly interesting stuff that you donโ€™t find on nostr.
frankly X has worst traction .. Reddit is the best .. Nostr is a community of bitcoiners and bots :-) You get traction only if you do something real with btc or lightning.. or make bunch of tools to improve nostr .. and there is nothing wrong with it ..
This is a struggle for those who are new to the nostr ecosystem. Stickiness of mainstream media is a thing that prevents cross over but at the same time, a lot of people just consume and don't engage. I <3 nostr for the detailed conversations that aren't elsewhere. But there is also the fact that some of us are not continuously consuming social media all the time.... I usually shut social media off to enhance productivity, not sure how bad this ends up for engagement but I'm never here to farm engagement, only here for the memes ๐Ÿ˜‰
That's one of the things I love most about Nostr, is that you're not punished by an algorithm for not being active. On other platforms, if you're not consistently active then the algorithm actually will punish you and make you work even harder to get engagement when you come back online.
