Let's mute each other!

I want my muted list to be public and it should show on everyone's public list so we know who the most muted people are, the annoying people should know they are annoying
Thank you for respecting Nostr Users, and their privacy, Vitor ππ.

Then just report them. Reports are public, mutes are private.
Muted, you gross summamabitch.
Why would I report them? they haven't done anything to be reported, they are just annoying, that's why the mute list is for
The problem is that not all clients use private mute lists, so if you use one of those, your mutes are ignored.
I can make an annoying category for reports. Either way this is not changing.
True, all clients should use private mute lists given thatβs the default on original Twitter.
do you have me muted vitor
Only on Wednesdays.
reasonable
that's not good enough, everything should be open and transparent, I want my block list, muted list and reports to all be public, even when I unfollow someone that person should get a notification that I unfollowed them.
The more drama the better
Nah. Next version will help you manage private follows. Nobody will see who follows who.
How do I make my private amethyst mutes public????
π€£
why do we need that? you're just helping people hide things,
you just want to follow zap queens and not have you girlfriend know about it, you should be more faithful or open about it, not hide it

Public muted are dumb. I hope all clients update to private. Unnecessary drama
This ππΎ
100% agree.
I cannot genuinely thank you enough for this! u r legend for thinking this through π«πͺ
But what would i use for free entertainment if random npubs werent getting butthurt?
Until they do, thereβs Mutable.
Wait, is mute the same as block? I only see a block option for npubs.
Not gunna happen because Nostr is a platform for data harvesters. All these devs care about is making everything as public & transparent as possible for data harvesting to sell to the highest bidder. Everything except admin actions they perform on you & operator actions. Yeah it's a consumer publicity & admin private protection. So I doubt..
Yeah good tool!
Karnage why you got me muted? I'm always nice to you.
Shared blocklists are a good thing that can be powered by public mutes, for the absolute filth.
You can't block people from seeing your posts on Nostr, you can only block yourself from seeing their comments.
Unless ... you run your own relays, and only post to them, at which point your could modify the voice to prevent your mutes from reading anything from your relays.
I like being able to see the clowns that muted me
Yep, we call mutes -> blocks.
Same. It's funny asf.
Really
@Jordan S, out of all the things to Zap you Zap this? Being able to see who other people follow is how I was able to build my account (and Iβm not alone here). Thatβs successful social media 101.
Im pro public
Ok, and it's because Vitor builds a good client that I personally use, and enjoy.
I think it's a good client, and allowing people to have secret follows would be a good feature.
So I tipped a $1 to use market signals that I as an end consumer of his FOSS product that I want a feature like that.
Sometimes people have interests, hobbies, and pages that they don't want others to know about.
Working on this now
What is difference?
block & hide
vs.
block & report
My point is the more people that use that particular client, the worse NOSTR will get as a functional social media and it already has an uphill battle.
Mutable has this.
> Shared blocklists
Not to say this isn't a good idea per se, but isn't this akin to "fediblock" that ActivityPub has?
Amethyst is the only client that actually works, and has a decent UI.
Nostr is an open protocol, you're free to use a client where all follows are publicly broadcast while I will use a client that gives me optional transparency.
And even if that feature is, or isn't imemented I will continue to use Amethyst since Vitor listens to user feedback.
Not saying other devs don't but Vitor has taken some of my feedback into consideration in the past, or so it seems.
And I will gladly continue to use as long as it's a good client, if it stopped being good then I would use another client that works better.
Playstore language. Blocks are for you. Reports for everyone to see
No clue what that is, I just want to share someones mutes of stuff like reply guys, I think it could be a great and easy way for spam prevention, CP and stuff most users dont want to see.
Reports are a better tool with more information to correctly assess why the person is being muted.
Ah ok, so like the follow lists, but for mute lists. Would be cool if there was a way to merge the various type of mute lists into one that's managed. Fediblock is similar, where you can make your mastodon/lemmy instance defederate with another. In most cases, it's just blocking right-wing instances out of thinking everything is a nazi. So, the only concern with shared mute lists might be cases where someone is added indiscriminately because someone "feels" that person is some kind of bad, when objectively they might not be.
Hmmm, maybe create a mute list out of peoples reports or something, that could work as well.
It would be mostly for βlogged outβ users. We could also make it optional to apply to your relay feeds.
Private mutes are for cowards
Amethyst acts like I muted myself yet I'm not in the mute list so I can't undo it. I get frustrated seeing every single notification "hidden" because it's about a post "from a muted account" π.
Open your mute list inside Mutable and see if you find yourself on it.
You should also check if you reported yourself.
See if following yourself clears this. The following someone overrides any mute list.
Also, new version incoming to manage your mute lists better
niceπ
Wait, it could be your hidden words. You added ICE and thus anything that has the sequence of chars ice in it will be hidden, like price.
Is that really how it works? It canβt distinguish words from parts of words?
Damus has or had this same issue with muted words.
@elsat Is this true? Shouldnβt there be logic to only isolate and mute full words?
Yes, because most of the use against scammers focuses in specific hash numbers they use to annoy people, like blossom images.
