Would you welcome shircoiners on nostr? Imagine they'd do Solana zaps here. Serious q.

That woul be a burdain for devs to implement the shitshow of compatibility for all the shitcoins. I'm not going to become a shitcoiner, but I welcome shitcoiners on here to see how good bitcoin is for tips.
I'd prefer if they'd not but its an open protocol so wygd. Luckily the people who like the centralized blockchains also seem to be happy with their centralized bird site
I would not use a client like that. But no one could stop them, even though LN network effects are already too big in nostr for others to succeed in adoption.
Shitcoiners are not welcome anywhere. They may be free to roam, but I'm not rolling out a carpet.

Absolutely welcome (one and all). One should constantly challenge one's beliefs and paradigms (and that goes both ways). Complacency and arrogance are for many their largest demons to overcome.
Yes, nobody can stop them since the protocol is permissionless. The majority of cryptocurrency users are not Bitcoin maxis or aren't even using Bitcoin.

For sure, we need more people in the land of freedom. Only who are not sure about there opinions are scared with different opinions.
Shitcoiners are here. Why haven't we seen any of them create shitcoin zaps though? Is it because there are not enough of them interested in actually using their coins of choice as currency in that way? Something else?
That question coming from you ... Yes, absolutely. And I suspect you are thinking about how Cashu could make these chains interoperable. Nothing special about having a Solana mint and with auto-swap activated, shitcoiners zapping me with their shitcoins would get converted to sats instantly and seamlessly. Let them zap fiat if they want to.

I would. It is interesting to think about why solana does have an equivalent concept. You could also filter out posts or only follow certain relays if you didn’t want to see that content.
Clients currently request a LN invoice to pay. If it's an LN invoice it's LN, if the client requests something else I don't use it unless I'm missing something.
LN is a great interoperability layer even without cashu in the mix. There is really nothing preventing lightning to be cross chain or even totally trust-based on some edges of the payment. So as long as the shitcoiner finds a route to you, he pays in shitcoin and you receive Bitcoin. I think, Calle is working on integrating Cashu in nostr clients and Cashu already supports LN payments and a Cashu balance could be in shitcoin. Now the transition between shitcoin and Bitcoin happens at nodes that offer an exchange rate, so as your LN invoice might be 100sat, the sending node would search to pay as little shitcoin for that as possible but those nodes would earn a fee by enabling this interaction.

Creating stuff requires proof of work
Got it. If LN is the interop protocol it's fine, i don't care and will not even know what the other party holds as long as I get sats. The same applies to fiat, people use strike and cash app to send sats while they hold basically fiat.
Hmm. Building Cashu to allow interoperability with Shitcoins is different. That would be giving them the tools to continue to Shitcoin. Now if they built it instead, then that's on them, and we can't stop them.
I think doing so will be a big step in growing #Nostr. They’re an adjacent group of people that already use and understand public-key cryptography, and getting them on the protocol could be the way to finally orange-pill them.
As long as they aren't demanding the zap button be changed to include their shitcoin somehow. - I just don't see them wanting to come here though when they can just copy the community and add their coin to it.
💯 I feel like most of the “crypto” community aligns with the values of the Bitcoin maxis, they just have convoluted and misguided ways of getting there.
Simply put, maybe it's impossible. Do other chains have a lightning-equivalent? My understanding is bitcoin is pretty special with its instant settlement via lightning
took the words right out of my mouth. "Welcome" is the wrong word for me, but I certainly wouldn't chase them away.

Welcome shitcoiners. Build your clients, power on your relays. May the best experience win 🤝
Most don't care about decentralization. They don't build anything without VC money. They don't have a real community or any real culture. Even if something shows up I doubt it'll last long.
I think everyone is welcome here. Let them build their clients and let the open market decide. But I doubt they would actually start building here if there is no token sale money involved..
I would welcome them as any other pleb. I wouldn't put a solana wallet until someone like you would have built an automatic bot to swap the solana shitcoines in sats or nuts without me having to touch them at all 🤣
everyone is welcome to use nostr. I wouldn't personally make friends or use their shitcoin but isn't the whole point of protocols for everyone to be able to use them.
Welcome is too strong a word but it would be cathartic to have some salty retards to dunk on. over here This business of being all kind to each other does not go well with my personality.
It depends I think.. If they're rude, arrogant, impolite and go around shilling their fucking shit then I'd naturally be inclined to mute them all. IF however they were kind, nice, helpful, wanted to help the Nostr ecosystem grow as a whole and didn't go around talking BULLSHIT about Solana then I would probably accept them. The onus is on THEM to be kind I feel.
I wouldn't follow them, and that wouldn't be zaps. Other than that, its a free nostr.
But of course! More people on #nostr means more people on #nostr! (And then, just maybe... I will get The Wife to like my posts! 🥲) 😂😂😂

Out of experience I can assure you that shitcoiners mainly are driven by tech challenges and don’t care about the rotten core of our society: broken money. I say that not out of disrespect! They are in it for the tech, the astronomical gains. Their vision of the future differs from the one Bitcoiners hope for. They trust elites and the banks.
its an open protocol, but there would have to be a way to efficiently filter that crap out of my feed. I mention that coz i've been having trouble removing shitcoin stuff while keeping bitcoin stuff in my RSS feed - client dependent of course.
If you don't accept "shitcoiners", nostr is not different from twitter or facebook, if nostr is just for "bitcoiners", nostr is "elitist" and a piece of shit. Is it not for the people by the people ? I mean for ALL the people ?

The only generalization I made was using "mainly". Of course this isnt' representative from a statistical point of view but it's also far away from a generalization.
